Likbez: where are screenshots saved? How to quickly take a screenshot (screenshot). We take a screenshot without special programs How to save screenshots from a computer

In all Windows operating systems, up to the recently introduced Windows 8, the screenshot was saved only to the clipboard. The clipboard is RAM. Usually you use the clipboard when you copy something and paste it somewhere else. For example, by selecting text and pressing Ctrl+C, you place the selected text on the clipboard. Later, you can paste this text anywhere you like.

The same thing happens when you press the Print Screen key. The Windows operating system takes a screenshot (a picture of everything that is happening on your screen). After a screenshot is taken, the operating system places it on the clipboard.

The screenshot is then available to the user. It can be inserted into any program that can work with images. In order to paste the resulting screenshot, it is enough to use the usual key combination Ctrl + V or the “Paste” command from the context menu.

Most often, the Paint program is used to save screenshots. It is installed with the operating system and is available in the Start - All Programs menu. It can also be launched using the search or the Run menu, which is launched using the Windows + R key combination.

At the same time, it should be recalled that, in addition to simply pressing the Print Screen key, you can use the Print Screen + Alt key combination. If you use this key combination, you will get a snapshot of only one active window, that is, the window that is at the very top and with which you are working. Naturally, screenshots taken using the Print Screen + Alt combination are saved in exactly the same way. After taking a screenshot, it is placed on the clipboard, after which it can be pasted anywhere.

How Print Screen is saved in the Windows 8 operating system

Everything works exactly the same. But there is one feature here, in addition to the old Print Screen and Print Screen + Alt key combinations, Windows 8 has another one - Windows + Print Screen.

The keyboard shortcut Windows+Print Screen automatically saves a screenshot to Libraries\Pictures\Screenshots. Thus, you immediately get the finished file, and you do not have to launch Paint to save the resulting screenshot.

Screenshot (screenshot). On the web, you can often see screenshots of the entire desktop, individual windows, or even arbitrary areas of the screen. This short article will tell you how to take a screenshot or the so-called screenshot quickly and without any hassle.

Taking a screenshot (screenshot, ) of the entire desktop at once is quite simple. For this it is necessary press the Print Screen (Prt Scrn) key. Typically, this key is located in the upper right side of the keyboard, next to such keys as Scroll Lock and Pause Break. After pressing the Print Screen key, a screenshot of the screen will be taken and placed on the clipboard.

In order to get a screenshot in the form of a finished picture, it must be saved. Any graphic editor is suitable for this. However, the easiest way is to use regular Paint. Open Paint and paste the screenshot from the clipboard using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-V. After that, the picture can be saved as a file. For saving it is better to use the PNG format. This will allow you to get the highest quality images with the minimum file size.

How to take a screenshot of a separate window

If many people know how to take a screenshot of the screen, then many users do not even know about the next way to get screenshots. To take a screenshot of an individual window, you can use the key combination Alt + Print Screen. By pressing the Alt and Print Screen keys, you get a snapshot of only one active window, that is, the window that is open and currently in use. This method of taking screenshots is especially useful when you need to take a screenshot of only one program, and the rest of the running programs should not be included in the picture.

After using this combination, a screenshot of the active window will be saved to the clipboard. Further, as in the previous case, the screenshot must be inserted into a graphics editor and saved as a picture.

Let's first take a look at how a screenshot of a page with the Print Screen key is taken, namely, without any additional programs.

Stage 1: put the screen in the clipboard

To do this, if you have a large keyboard (with a numeric keypad), then simply press the PrtScr key.
In this case, a screenshot of the entire screen will be taken and placed in the .

If the key combination Alt + PrtScr does not work for you, then find the Fn key (near Alt) and read Fn + PrtScr.
This often happens on a laptop, where the keyboard is small and does not have a number pad on the right.

At this time, you can be on any site, or just in Word or another program, or play a game and press a combination of these keys to take a screenshot.

At the same time, we want to note that you will not see any information that the keys worked. In order to understand that the screen is made, you need to go to step 2.

Stage 2: paste the picture taken into the graphic editor

After we have completed the first stage, we launch the standard Paint program that is available on any Windows OS:

The screenshot will be pasted into the program from the clipboard. Now you just need to select "Save" in the top menu, or press the key combination "Ctrl + S" and select a location on your computer to save in any of the available formats: jpg, png, gif.

If you wish, you can stretch or compress it.

If you have a Windows 7 operating system, then you can do without the keys described in the previous section, and without all kinds of inserts.

You just need to run a standard and very convenient program called "Scissors" (Snipping Tool).

You can find it in the Start menu. If it is not visible there, then use the search, just as we searched for Paint.

Immediately upon starting the program, the cursor will change to a cross. By holding the right mouse button, you can select the desired area of the screen, release the button and the screen will automatically be made.

This mode is called Rectangle. It is by default. But you can choose other options from the menu, from the drop-down list: “arbitrary shape”, “window”, “full screen”.

After the screenshot is taken, save it to your computer with the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl + S".

Hello, friends! Today we will learn how to take screenshots, or in Russian - take screenshots of a computer screen. This topic is in demand, because many people post on social networks and sometimes you need to quickly insert a photo (or other desired image) into a comment right from the screen.

It's not difficult, let's look at the fastest ways to take pictures in various ways. Today there will be an extensive article.

The word "screenshot" means "screen" and "shot" in English. It is understood that we will shoot with screens, or rather with a screen or at the screen.. 😛 . Anyway. Today there are special programs that not only take screenshots, but also allow these images to be supplemented and further processed. Today we will not analyze them in detail, these are topics for separate articles. Let's get acquainted with the solutions that are probably already on your devices.

How are screenshots taken on a computer or laptop and where are they saved?

Let's start with the computer. You are reading these lines and right now you can save a screenshot from your laptop simply by pressing one button on the keyboard. The image is stored in the device's RAM until you take the next picture or put other information into the RAM (we copy files, folders, text, after all). A screenshot after copying can immediately be inserted into the desired document (or as we said in a message, or a comment).

On computers or laptops there are special keys to take pictures. In different situations, you can use different methods to take a screenshot, you can save them to your hard drive, or you can not save them.

To write instructions and manuals, you can simply use the keys and insert, for example, everything into a Word document. For online reviews, you can use the Microsoft Edge browser. If you run your website or blog, you can use a special program to create and edit screenshots.

If you use mobile devices, then the smartphone application is suitable for you, with which you can take, edit and share pictures. In a word, today technical progress has gone far from the Print Screen button, which was once the only way to print an image from the monitor screen. How it's done?

We get a screenshot of the screen on the computer with the Print Screen button

The Print screen button has been on the IBM PC keyboard since time immemorial. Translated into Russian means "Print screen". So this function has been in demand for a long time, but for various reasons, for some reason, a lot of people do not know about its existence:

If you need to take a screenshot, then by clicking this button we will load the screenshot into memory. And visually nothing will happen. Then you need to save it. For example, in a Word document.

Saving occurs by pasting content from the clipboard. You need to right-click the context menu (or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V).

This keyboard shortcut is a common, basic command for most programs, you can use it to paste something in any program, not just for screenshots.

So, we have taken a screenshot in the simplest way. But this simple method has a significant drawback. The resulting image may need to be cropped, for example, (or supplemented), and this requires an additional program. Next, let's see if there are more universal ways to get screenshots.

Paste screenshots from Microsoft Edge browser

The developers of Windows 10 presented their proprietary browser that can take pictures and supplement the resulting images. He is one of the top ten, let's see how he can do it.

There is such a function in the browser, "Add notes". By clicking on this button, we get the opportunity to edit the open web page. You can draw on it, leave notes, insert comments, save and share the drawing with other people. Watch a video on how to edit screenshots in Microsoft Edge:

Taking screenshots using Yandex Disk

An excellent opportunity to take screenshots and share them is provided by the Yandex-Disk cloud storage program. If you have mail on Yandex, you can type "Yandex disk download" and install this program on your computer or laptop:

After downloading, we go to the Yandex-Disk settings and check the settings regarding screenshots. If necessary, change the keyboard shortcuts to more familiar ones.

I like that Yandex has the ability to take screenshots of a separate area, a separate window, and not just the entire screen. Let's see how a screenshot is taken on a Yandex disk, and what you can do with it next:

Yandex-disk is a worthy option, which is equipped with fairly wide functionality for further image processing. This program is used by many bloggers and authors to post their publications.

How to take screenshots with Bandicam?

Bandicam is mainly used for capturing video from the screen. It is paid, but you can try and find a portable version, which, among other things, can take screenshots. The essence is the same, we install the program, in the settings we assign the keys that we will use.

Watch a short video of the program below:

The program allows you to click many screenshots and saves them in a separate folder. But for further processing, one more program is needed, and this is inconvenient. But its undoubted advantage is the ability to take high quality and high resolution pictures.

How is a screenshot taken on an Android mobile phone (smartphone)?

You can also take pictures with smartphones. Depending on the model, you can use keyboard shortcuts on your phone, or you can use special applications that are a dime a dozen on Google Play. I've settled on one for now, called Screenshot Touch. This program can take screenshots and shake the phone, which is convenient.

The settings of the program are very simple, after playing around a bit, I realized that for me the best thing is to take a screenshot by shaking. After opening the program, you can make settings:

After finishing work, do not forget to press the red button "Stop screenshot", otherwise you will take pictures from accidental touches or shaking.

In my new version of Android, I did not find a working keyboard shortcut to take a picture, but other phone models have such a combination. Older models take screenshots by pressing Volume Down + Power button.

Getting screenshots on a Windows Phone 10 smartphone

On Windows Phone with "Ten" everything is done very simply. At the right time, the volume up button and the phone's power button are pressed simultaneously:

At the same time, a characteristic click is heard. The images are saved in the "Photos" folder. Having opened the picture, you can share it, delete it, and so on.

How to take a screenshot on iPhone?

The flagship of the American telephone industry also knows how to take screenshots. You can use various applications from the AppStore. But there is also a proprietary keyboard shortcut:

By pressing the button on the front panel at the bottom (similar to the Home button) plus the phone's screen lock button, we get a screenshot. In the future, you can ennoble it with an application like ScreenShot Maker Pro and successfully share and post it. As you can see, nothing complicated. And that's all for today, until we meet again.

Almost all computer users sooner or later need to save the screen image to a file. Such a screenshot is called a screenshot, from the English Screen Shot - a screenshot. In this article, I will show you how to take a screenshot of the screen on a computer in standard ways and with the help of cool programs, and below you can watch the video.

Basically, this is necessary to communicate with the technical support service or to help someone yourself by showing how the window of some program looks like. Sometimes they do it just to make themselves a new desktop screensaver or for a wide variety of other uses.

The easiest way to get a screenshot

Carambis Screenshooter allows you to save screenshots with a minimum of steps. After the standard installation, use the buttons:

  • Alt+Shift+1: Screenshot the entire monitor
  • Alt+Shift+2: selected part of the screen
  • Alt+Shift+3: Snapshot of the selected window

If you chose the 2nd option, then to finish the selection of the area, press Enter, cancel - Esc. A simple editor will open:

Here you can draw arrows, various shapes, add text with adjustable transparency, crop the image. Click on the "Save" button and the screenshot is uploaded to the Carambis cloud by default. The link is automatically copied to the clipboard:

You can click on the program icon in the system tray near the clock and work from there:

The same options for screenshots, you can also choose where to save images:

We see the standard autorun options and you can also disable the editor window after taking a screenshot. In this case, we immediately get a ready-made link. On the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, you can override the default buttons:

I think that such combinations were initially chosen for those cases when there is NO PrtScrn button on the keyboard.

Screenshot using Windows tools without programs

In the simplest case, the tools of the Windows 7/10 operating system will be enough for us. To take a screenshot of the screen, press the "Print Screen" key. It is located in the upper right part of the keyboard.

Please note that on some laptops, the "Prt Scr" key is combined with some other button. In this case, you need to press the combination "Fn + Prt Scr". But by itself, pressing this button does not save a screenshot, but simply copies the picture from the screen to the clipboard, just like you copy any text using the Ctrl + C buttons and paste it later with the Ctrl + V buttons.

To save a picture from the clipboard to a file, we need the standard Paint image editor. It can be launched from "Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint" or simply write the word "paint" in the search bar of the "Start" button and select the program from the drop-down list.

This is exactly what I do, because it turns out faster than looking for a program in the rubble of the Start menu 🙂

Now in the Paint program, just click "Paste" or the buttons "Ctrl + V" to.

As you can see, I took a screenshot of my desktop. It remains only to save the image to a file. To do this, click on the "diskette" and choose where to save the file. I recommend choosing the file format "JPEG", because. it takes up the least space, but you can leave nothing and leave "PNG" as the default.

You can only take a screenshot of the active program. To do this, press the key combination "Alt + Print Screen". And you can paste a picture from the clipboard not only in Paint, but also, for example, directly into a Word document or an Outlook email.

So, the simplest algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Press "Print Screen" or "Alt + Print Screen"
  2. Launching the Paint program
  3. Paste the contents of the clipboard
  4. Saving the file

You can also easily screenshot the screen using the standard Windows 7/8/10 Scissors utility. With it, you can copy an arbitrary part of the screen. It is located in the menu "Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Scissors".

Click on the arrow on the "Create" button and choose what we want to copy: an arbitrary shape, a rectangle, a window, or the entire screen. If you just need to copy a rectangular area, then select "rectangle", and if you want to circle the shape with the mouse, then select "arbitrary shape". When you have chosen what you want, click the "Create" button itself. When the screen changes color, you can select the area. By the way, when you start the program, it is immediately in the area selection mode.

There are simple drawing tools "Pen" and "Marker". You can erase your creativity with an eraser. You can save the result using a floppy disk. The Scissors utility does not know how to create transparent PNG files, so it is better to save as JPEG. What are transparent pictures I will show a little lower. By the way, you can always later.

Screenshot - just click the button 🙂

So, go to the site https://screenshoter.rf/ and download the Screenshoter program, there is one big button “Download for free” on the floor of the screen, incl. you won't miss 😉 The program is from a domestic developer, therefore it is completely in Russian and, of course, free 🙂 Besides, I checked it for viruses - everything is clean.

During installation, you can disable the loading of Yandex elements:

Immediately after installation, a window opens with the program settings, click "Save", I will talk about them a little later.

Now, to send a link to a screenshot to a friend, just press the Ctrl + PrtScr buttons (if anyone doesn’t know, the PrtScr button is on the standard keyboard to the right of F12. A characteristic click and a second blackout of the screen will mean that your clipboard already has a link to the image !Check it by pasting it into your browser's address bar:

Everything is so simple! And if you need to take a screenshot of a certain part of the screen, then just press the PrtScr button and select the area. When you release the mouse, the link to the picture will be in your clipboard!

The screenshoter has a couple more trump cards in his pocket that other competitors do not have. If the keyboard reaches "far" or laziness, then you can simply click on the program icon in the system tray, which is equivalent to pressing the PrtScr button:

And it will be more convenient for someone to right-click on any empty space on the desktop and select the appropriate action in the context menu:

And everything is so simple, because programmers began to make a program purely for themselves in order to get the functionality that is on the "macs" - the quick creation of screenshots. And, I want to say, it turned out perfectly.

A little about the settings

Each time you start the program, a window with settings appears:

By default, buttons for creating a screenshot of the entire screen: Ctrl+PrtScr, for an arbitrary area: PrtScr. In the settings, you can specify your own buttons if, for example, these are already used for other software.

Next, we can determine where to save screenshots. By default, pictures are saved to the hard drive and uploaded to the screenshoter's own server (so you can get and send the link). Can be limited to hard drive only (locally) or server only. Note that there are no restrictions on the number of files sent to the server.

The folder where the files will be saved on the computer can be specified just below. By the way, there is already a shortcut to it on your desktop.

And the last few settings:

  • Show cursor on screenshot - leaves the mouse arrow on the picture, otherwise the arrow will not remain
  • Show notifications - to display messages about successful actions above the screenshot icon
  • Play sound - I think it's clear why 😉

In general, that's all, in fact, even the teapot will figure it out, everything is simplified to the point of absurdity. After installation, the program enters autorun and starts every time you turn on your computer or laptop (fortunately, the settings window does not appear). If you do not need it, then see the article. By the way, we could enable this option in the settings, as most developers do.

How to take a transparent screenshot

Another interesting program is "PrtScr", which can take transparent screenshots, although it is in English, but I'll show everything now.

Program page (eng): https://www.fiastarta.com/PrtScr/
Platform: Windows XP/Vista/7/8
Language: English
Spreading: for free

What are transparent pictures? Let me show you with an example. I took two screenshots in different formats and overlaid them on another image in any graphics editor:

On the right is an opaque JPEG. As you can see, I've selected an arbitrary area, but it's framed by a rectangle (which is usually just white, but this program adds a slightly visible background to it).

And on the left is a fragment that was saved as a transparent PNG file. It is superimposed in the form in which I outlined it, without a rectangular frame. It is very convenient and beautiful to overlay such files on other images, and in such a way that it will be imperceptible.

The PrtScr program “hangs” at the bottom in the form of an icon, by right-clicking on it, select “Capture screen now”.

after which the screen will change color, and the following hint will appear on the right:

This means that: the left mouse button selects an arbitrary area of the screen (hot buttons "Alt + Print Screen"), when Ctrl is pressed, a rectangle will be selected, and with the right button you can simply draw on the screen and then select the desired area. If you just click anywhere, you get a screenshot of the entire screen.

Hot buttons "Ctrl+Print Screen" include a magnifying glass with a very large increase, where you can use Ctrl to select an area of the screen with pixel accuracy.

So, after we did what we wanted, our screenshot appears in the form of a beautiful flying object and a window for saving the results.

Here's what's interesting here:

  • Save as... - save to a file. If you used arbitrary selection, then in order for the picture to turn out to be transparent, you need to save it in PNG format, not JPEG. At the same time, on the “Settings” tab, there should be a checkbox “Transparent PNG” (it is there by default). Otherwise use "JPEG".
  • Email… - send by mail using the default mail program
  • Edit ... - edit in the program "Paint"
  • Print ... - print on the printer
  • To clipboard - copy to clipboard
  • Discard - delete screenshot

Conclusion

As you can see, everything is very simple. There are both standard Windows features and various applications with their own merits. It's up to you which method to use. I also think it will be very interesting for you to read. If you liked the article, then share it with your friends on social networks!

And now a video with a visual "debriefing" 🙂
