The search button in Yandex does not work. Why Yandex browser does not open pages but the Internet works

The browser from Yandex has many advantages and unique features, such as Turbo mode, Zen, detailed interface settings and quick access to your favorite sites. You can download it from the official website (https://browser.yandex.ru/desktop/main/?ncrnd=6924) and, after going through the installation process, proceed to editing the appearance and adding useful sites to bookmarks. But after a while, due to some errors in the system, it may stop opening on the computer. Why do such problems happen and what can be done to solve the problem?

Why does Yandex.Browser not open or work incorrectly?

There are several reasons why the web surfer may have stopped launching. Perhaps the program components were damaged by a virus, or you tried to configure something yourself, but in the end you accidentally lost the settings responsible for launching the browser. Another option that is possible on weak, old or overly loaded computers is a lack of RAM to open a new application. Also, before opening Yandex.Browser, you should make sure that you are connected to the Internet. And the last thing that can cause this problem is a conflict between applications, or a malfunctioning antivirus.

Solution

Before proceeding with more complex and time-consuming methods, you need to try to fix the problem using simple methods.

Restarting the browser

The first thing to do with any program that refuses to work or launch correctly is to restart it.

Restarting the computer

The second thing to do when the application does not work as it should is to restart the device itself, since in this case all processes and programs will automatically end and then open, which may lead to them starting to work fully by themselves.

Terminating other processes

This option is relevant for users with weak computers or those who work in many programs at the same time.

  1. Launch the task manager.
  2. Go to the "Performance" section.
  3. If CPU utilization is approaching 90-100%, follow these steps.
  4. Go to the "Processes" section.
  5. Shut down all processes that are not related to ensuring the health of the system. For example, select any third-party program and click the “End task” button.
  6. Go to the “Startup” section.
  7. We disable autorun of the maximum number of programs so that problems with the browser do not arise in the future.

Browser update

There are two options for updating Yandex Browser. The first, more convenient one, can only be used by those who have the opportunity to get into the browser menu. This method is more convenient because you will save all your bookmarks and previously entered passwords.

  1. Expand the browser menu.
  2. Expand the “Advanced” section.
  3. Select the “About Browser” section.
  4. In the window that opens, click the “Update” button.
  5. We wait for the process to complete and restart the browser.

The second method is suitable for those who do not have access to the menu and browser settings. But in this case, you will need another browser to download the installation file.

  1. Open the Windows Control Panel application.
  2. Go to the “Programs” section.
  3. Go to the “Uninstall programs” subsection.
  4. Select Yandex Browser and click on the “Delete” button.
  5. We confirm the action.
  6. Open any other browser and follow the link (https://browser.yandex.ru/desktop/main/?ncrnd=6924).
  7. Download the latest version of the installation file.
  8. We go through the installation process and try to launch the browser.

Troubleshooting

If none of the previous methods of fixing the problem helped you, then you should take more serious steps.

Reinstalling the browser

To completely reinstall your browser, follow steps 1–8 from the previous “Updating your browser” instructions. This may solve the problem, since all files will be recreated and, accordingly, will not have errors in their code. If this does not help, it means that the error was not in the components of the browser, or some kind of virus corrupted them again. Follow the instructions in the following sections so that Yandex Browser will open again and perform the required tasks.

Removing viruses

There is a very high chance that a virus has penetrated your computer without your knowledge, blocking your browser’s access to the Internet or corrupting some files in it that are responsible for launching. In this case, you should find and remove the malicious program, and then reinstall the browser.

  1. Open the antivirus installed on your computer.
  2. Go to the “Antivirus” section.
  3. We launch a full scan.
  4. We wait for the end of the scanning process and remove the found viruses.
  5. Let's try to launch the browser. If it still does not open, this means that the virus has damaged the files and requires a complete reinstallation of the browser.

Video tutorial: what to do if the browser does not start

Checking the network connection is working properly

The browser may stop opening if it cannot download the information needed to launch from the Internet. So before opening it, try following a link in another browser or starting downloading any file to make sure that the Internet downloads information to and from the device consistently and without loss of speed. Or go to the website

http://www.speedtest.net/ru/ and run an Internet speed test.

Resolve conflicts with other applications

The browser may conflict with malicious and other programs. It may refuse to launch or start working incorrectly, for example, if some application limits its capabilities or prevents it from performing assigned tasks. To see which applications are conflicting with your browser, go to browser://conflicts. In the window that opens, you will be presented with a list of programs and processes that interfere with the operation of Yandex Browser. Close them through the task manager and restart the browser.

Firewall issues

Many modern antiviruses have a built-in add-on - a firewall. It allows you to monitor Internet traffic costs and block Internet access to various applications. Perhaps this application mistakenly added the browser to the blacklist, which means that it needs to be removed from there.

  1. We launch the antivirus installed on your computer.
  2. Go to the “Tools” section.
  3. Click on the Firewall tool icon.
  4. In the window that opens, go to the Firewall section.
  5. Uncheck the box or the fire icon opposite the Yandex browser.

What to do if nothing helps

If none of the previous methods for resolving the problem helped you, then write to Yandex support. Follow the link http://tinyurl.com/zywjjbj and fill out the form. In the “Description” column, explain the problem and what you have already done to fix it as accurately and clearly as possible. Attach a screenshot if you get an error when starting the browser. If the error appears only when you click on a specific link, then in the “Link” column, indicate the specific page on which you are experiencing the problem. Specify the email to which you will receive a response from the support service, click the “Submit” button and wait for a response within several business days.

If Yandex Browser stops launching or starts working incorrectly, then first try restarting it, then restart the device. Make sure you have the latest available browser version. If all else fails, reinstall your browser, check your computer for viruses and the network connection. Check whether the browser is conflicting with other applications, and whether your antivirus firewall is blocking it. If your problem is unique, and none of the above helped, send a letter describing your situation to the support service.

Although Yandex Browser is a fairly reliable and fast solution for surfing the Internet, sometimes problems can arise with it. What to do if, for example, Yandex Browser does not open? Let's look at what to do step by step in such a situation. We will also immediately indicate the reasons for the failures.

Problems with network access

If the connection is weak or absent altogether, Yandex Browser, like, in principle, any other browser, will not load pages. This could be a single system failure, a line failure, a damaged adapter cable, or a broken router.

Try opening any resources in a different browser first. If they open, then the problem is in Yandex. If not, then the reason may lie in the lack of a network.

If nothing has changed, call your provider's service and find out what is causing the poor connection, as problems that arise can only be resolved with the help of an IT specialist.

We complete processes related to Yandex

We continue to correct the situation using simpler methods. Processes called browser.exe may accumulate on your computer. In this case, you need to close them.

1.Launch Task Manager.

2.Switch to the “Details” block.

3.You will see that there are many processes related to Yandex Browser in the list. Complete them all using the End Task button.

Browser update

As a rule, Yandex Browser updates itself automatically in the background, that is, even without the user’s knowledge. However, failure may also occur. If you can access the browser menu, use the following method.

1.Click on the icon with three stripes.

2.Go to the “Advanced” section.

3.Open the “About Browser” item.

4.If there is an “Update” button, click on it.

5.Wait for the updates to install and then restart your browser.

System hangs

Yandex Browser may not start due to the fact that one or more Windows services are not working due to a failure. This does not mean that you urgently need to reinstall the OS. It is enough to restart the computer. Restarting, in principle, solves most computer problems.

If the situation is not resolved, continue to the next instructions.

Viruses on PC

Malware on a computer or laptop carries out its insidious plans. The result of their activities may be the failure of various programs, including Yandex Browser. The program just doesn't want to start.

In this regard, it is imperative to have an installed and updated antivirus on your device. If the signature database is always up to date, the user can surf the Internet without fear of catching a virus.

If Yandex Browser does not respond, and a simple restart of the program and OS does not help, run a scan of all hard drives. It is advisable that this be a full scan to rule out viruses as the cause and move on.

If a file is infected, the program will try to “cure” it. If the attempt is unsuccessful, you will have to delete it.

High CPU usage: cleaning other processes

Why doesn’t Yandex Browser open pages, and if it does, it does so after a long period of time? What to do in this case?

Most likely, your RAM is overloaded with many unnecessary processes. Each active program consumes the amount of system resources it needs. If there are few resources, the computer or laptop begins to freeze.

In this situation, it is necessary to relieve the load by closing unnecessary processes.

  1. Press the combination Ctrl + Alt + Delete. Launch the Task Manager.
  2. Switch to the “Processes” tab. Below you can see what percentage of the total resources is currently being used.
  3. If the load is more than 85%, end unnecessary processes and close unnecessary programs in the Applications tab.

Problem in the system registry

Why doesn't Yandex Browser open yet? The system registry file may be infected. Let's check if the modification has been made.

  1. Press the Win+R combination on your keyboard.
  2. In the “Run” line, enter the command “regedit” and click OK.
  3. Click on "Yes".
  4. Go to the "Edit" section, and then select "Find".
  5. Enter "AppInit_DLLs" and click on the "Find Next" button.
  6. If the search finds a file or multiple files, double-click to open them one by one. In the “Value” block you need to remove everything.
  7. Now you need to restart your PC.

The search must be performed throughout the registry; the “Computer” branch must be active on the left side of the window.

Hosts file

The hosts file may also undergo changes. That's why we check it too.

  1. Copy the path to Explorer: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. Launch hosts via Notepad.
  2. The window that opens will contain a set of symbols, Latin letters and numbers. We remove without regret the lines written after::1 localhost. If it is not there, delete the lines after 127.0.0.1 localhost.

We save the changes we just made to the file and restart the device. Then check whether the browser wants to load after the procedure.

Often dangerous entries are hidden at the bottom of the file. They are then separated from the main lines. In this regard, you need to scroll the text to the end.

Clearing the DNS cache

The procedure described below is very useful: it will help you get rid of the list of static routes. Due to their excess, Yandex Browser also does not load.
1.Open the “Run” window and enter the “cmd” command. Click OK or Enter on your keyboard.

2.Write “route -f” in the window and press Enter:

3.Then enter the command “ipconfig /flushdns” and also press Enter:

4.Now you can check whether the pages will open in the browser. Most likely, when turned on, the browser will work in the required correct mode.

If the pages do not launch, move on to the next solution.

Uninstalling an old version of the program

If Yandex refuses to turn on and still work normally, you will have to switch to the extreme method. Before doing this, however, try deleting all information from the program or at least clearing the cache. Often the browser does not work due to a full cache. This is especially true if the cache has not been cleared for a long time or has not been cleared at all since installation. Regular cleaning is the key to stable operation in Yandex Browser.

Clearing cache didn't help? Let's move on to step-by-step instructions for reinstallation. The fact is that Yandex constantly creates new files, downloads additional updates, changing its structure. This happens without the user’s knowledge, since this browser has an automatic update function, which, by the way, cannot be disabled.

If there was a failure during the update, the files could become corrupted. Hence the incorrect operation: tabs do not open, the program cannot respond, etc. File damage can also be caused by viruses, so take the time to run an antivirus scan. We talked about this above.

1.Launch Control Panel via Start. This will be the right column of the menu.

2.Open the Programs and Features window. You can also enter the name of this window in the search bar in Start, so as not to go to the Control Panel.

3.Find Yandex. Click on “Delete” at the top or on the option in the context menu, which can be called up as usual with the right mouse button.

The standard uninstallation method does not involve removing residual files from the program, such as registry entries. If you want to get rid of them, then use special software to remove programs, for example, CCleaner. It is also possible to remove junk files manually, but this is not recommended for beginners.

Reinstalling the browser

Go to the official resource of the program: https://browser.yandex.ru/new/desktop/custo/main/?_rdr=safe. Click on the "Download" button.

Open the installer that your browser just downloaded. Follow the simple installation instructions. Everything will happen quickly enough.

There are a lot of methods for solving problems with Yandex Browser. It all depends on the reason for the freeze. It cannot be determined that easily, so you need to try method after method. After each procedure, check whether the browser turns on. If the program opens and loads pages quickly, then you have successfully solved the problem.

Active Internet users could observe today that the largest search engine on the Runet, Yandex, completely refused to open and almost all Yandex services were also inaccessible.

At 17:30 Moscow time, the Yandex press service commented on the current situation and reported that Yandex and all its services were unavailable due to a network failure in the data center. Yandex also clarified that the current problem is internal and is related to routing problems in the network.

After a couple of hours, the search engine and all incoming services from Yandex fully restored their functionality after such an unplanned failure.

This situation could not be ignored and here are a few messages from Twitter:

Of course, this was immediately reflected in the blogosphere. Here are some tweets from Twitter -

Adventure Day - #yandex fell, who really annoyed him. Maps are gone, bookmarks and mail are gone, we will Google more intensively, period! :)))
@IgorZ_ua

I bet $5 that #yandex will last another half an hour (until 20:00 Moscow time)!
@seowit

My arrival in Moscow with a refusal to issue a US visa has nothing to do with the fact that #yandex fell, it’s true
@terehoff

The Yandex company blog says:

Today, Yandex services were unavailable for several hours. This happened due to a routing problem in the Yandex network. This has nothing to do with the operation of data centers, DDoS attacks, fires, or any other external factors. Now the main consequences of the problem have been eliminated. No user data is lost.

We apologize to all our users.

For those who are interested, a more detailed description:

The problem is caused by a software bug in the router located in our new data center in Amsterdam. Yandex uses routing protocols - the internal OSPF protocol and the external BGP protocol. Due to an error, information about all external routes ended up in internal routing tables. This is about three orders of magnitude more routes than usual. The OSPF protocol is not designed for this amount. As a result, all routers ran out of memory and stopped working. The network was disrupted, and after a few minutes Yandex became completely inaccessible.

The internal network also did not work. Therefore, our specialists needed to spend a lot of time in order to get to the source of the problem along the chain.

Administrators have fixed the bug on the router. After that, in order to remove the extra load from the remaining routers, of which we have more than a hundred, our specialists had to divide the network into several parts. The amount of traffic decreased, the routers had more free memory, and they were able to independently restore network connectivity.

There are no perfect browsers. Even the seemingly most powerful, fast and popular browser can actually malfunction and be subject to glitches and errors. And the Yandex browser in this case is no exception. Users quite often encounter a problem when the Yandex browser does not work, does not want to start, or simply does not open pages. Let's figure out what to do in this case and how to eliminate such errors and make sure that they do not pop up in the future.

In general, there can be a lot of reasons why the browser from a popular Russian search engine stopped launching. But we will consider only those due to which it does not work most often. And they, in principle and almost always, are the cause of a program failure. And we will try to solve the errors that prevent you from properly using all the capabilities of the World Wide Web.

Why doesn't Yandex Browser work?

  • Normal program crash.
  • Malicious programs that prevent it from working normally.
  • Other programs using a large amount of computer RAM.
  • Operating system malfunctions.
  • Damaged files.
  • Problems with temporary files in the registry.
  • Outdated browser version.

And so, we sorted out the problems. Now you can proceed directly to solving them.

This option can only be effective in cases where a temporary program failure has occurred. Then you can simply reboot the system, and the problem will go away on its own. Or, the method may be useful when the program is frozen. In short, in this way you can only solve an error that arose due to system overload or program file failure.

If the problem lies much deeper, then you will have to resort to more complex and drastic methods of treating browser ailments.

Removing viruses

Very often, Yandex browser does not start due to the fact that the computer has been infected with malware, which prevents the application from starting normally. Such a virus can be picked up very easily, especially if you do not have an antivirus installed or disabled, which prevents the threat from penetrating the system and harming it. Although in some cases, even an antivirus does not help, since every day many new viruses and Trojans are released and spread, which it has not yet learned to recognize.

If, nevertheless, you fell for the bait of hackers and accidentally downloaded a Trojan onto your computer and your browser stopped launching, then you need to immediately scan your computer for viruses. And if they are found, delete them immediately. Then restart the system and try to open the Yandex browser again. If it starts, then the problem is fixed. If not, then we move on to the next possible problem and try to remove it.

Other programs use a lot of RAM

Another reason why the Yandex browser flatly refuses to open is the lack of RAM and processor memory. What does it mean? Simply put, there are too many programs and applications installed on your computer that mercilessly eat up RAM. And when it is not enough, Windows simply physically cannot run the program, because there is absolutely no room left for it.

The solution to this problem is very banal and simple. All you need to do is disable programs that use a lot of RAM. You can do this by going to the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and removing certain programs from the list. It’s even better to turn them off so that you don’t have to perform this action every time you start a computer, that is, a computer.

Clearing the DNS cache

This method turns out to be very effective in most cases and almost always allows you to get rid of the problem of Yandex Browser not working. Various static routes can be stored in the DNS cache, as a result of which the browser stops working normally and refuses to start, or becomes very slow and does not want to load any pages. Clearing it eliminates all these errors and returns the browser to normal operation.

How to clear cacheDNS:

That's it, clearing the cache is complete. To check whether the problem was resolved using similar actions, launch your browser. But before this, it is recommended to restart Windows. If it opens, then everything is fine, the error is cleared. If not, then you will have to do some more conjuring to achieve the desired result and bring the Yandex browser into full working order.

Cleaning the registry

Didn't all of the above steps help? Don't despair, because there are still ways that can help you get your browser back up and running. One of these is cleaning the registry files.

Registry files can become damaged if the program is closed incorrectly, any important files are deleted from the browser folder, or the program is not updated correctly. Also, the cause of a failure in the registry can be the same viruses, and quite often, they penetrate the registry and even their complete removal does not produce results as long as they are in the temporary files of the program.

How to clean the Yandex browser Registry:

Check if Yandex browser is working now. Most likely, it should start without problems.

Yandex browser takes a long time to load

It happens that the website browser starts without problems, but it takes a very long time. This happens as often as other errors associated with this browser. This problem can be solved using the same solutions described above. First try restarting your computer. If this is not enough, then check your computer for viruses, clear the cache and registry, and remove programs from the task manager that consume a large amount of RAM and place a heavy load on the processor. This should be more than enough for the program to work normally.

Also, the browser may slow down, and various errors may constantly appear. In all these cases, the methods described in this article will help you. If this does not help, then go straight to the very last point in this article.

Complete removal and reinstallation of Yandex Browser

If nothing helps, and the problem remains regardless of any of your actions, then you will have to resort to extreme measures. To be more precise, you need to completely remove the program and reinstall it. Moreover, it is recommended to download and install the latest version.

How to remove a browser from Yandex?

Before installing a newer version, you need to get rid of the old one. And now we will tell you how to do this.

And so, you deleted the Yandex browser and restarted the system. Great, but that's not all. There are traces of the program left on the system that must be removed. To do this, download CCleaner and clear the registry cache to get rid of unnecessary files that can cause crashes.

Installation

Now that the browser has been completely removed and all the “tails” from it have been cleaned, you can install it again.

To be sure of its functionality, download the latest version, and download it exclusively from the official website. To do this, go to https://browser.yandex.ru/desktop/main/ and click the “Download” button. That's it, the loading process has begun. Now you need to wait until it is completely downloaded.

If you have already downloaded or had the latest version of the Yandex browser on your computer, then open the installer and start the installation. I think everyone will figure this out. You just need to follow the installer's steps. And after installation is complete, be sure to restart your computer. This method should help in one hundred percent of cases and the browser will launch without problems and work without failures.
