Compact smartphones of the year. The best compact smartphones according to customer reviews

The smallest smartphone in our selection. iPhone SE is made in a familiar case from the “five”, which was released 5 years ago. Thanks to the 4-inch screen, the iPhone fits in any hand, even the smallest.

Despite the old design, there is very powerful hardware inside - a dual-core Apple A9 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 or 64 GB of internal memory. Such characteristics, combined with a small screen resolution, produce fantastic performance, second only to the new iPhone 7. Among other things, the iPhone SE has one of the best mobile cameras - it will satisfy even the most demanding user.

Operating system: iOS 9. Processor: Apple A9. RAM: 2 GB

Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017)

  • Case width: 66.2 mm
  • Screen diagonal: 4.7 inches

New from Samsung with a 4.7-inch screen, water protection and fast charging.

Fans of small Galaxy A3 2017 phones will like it - the small screen and rounded back of the case make the device very convenient to use.

The smartphone screen is made using AMOLED technology, the resolution is only HD, but for 4.7 inches this is enough. Inside there is an eight-core Exynos 7870 processor with a frequency of 1.6 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. The characteristics are average, but the device performs all the main tasks quickly - it’s enough for social networks. Among the nice additions - the Galaxy A3 2017 is made according to the IP68 standard, which means that it is not afraid of dust and dirt, there is a fingerprint scanner and Samsung Pay contactless payment technology.

Sony Xperia X Compact

  • Case width: 65 mm
  • Screen diagonal: 4.6 inches

Sony does not forget about fans of compact smartphones and every year releases small versions of its flagship. Xperia X Compact is the latest small smartphone from the Japanese. It is really small - the screen is only 4.6 inches, and the body width is 65 mm. Fits in any palm :)

The characteristics also did not disappoint: the heart of the Sony Xperia X Compact was the well-proven Qualcomm Snapdragon 650. It is very powerful and runs all games at maximum settings. RAM is 3 GB, and the main memory is 32 GB - if this is not enough, you can expand the memory using a memory card. The body is made of plastic, there are many color options to suit every taste - coral, blue, black and white.

Huawei Nova

  • Case width: 69.1 mm
  • Screen diagonal: 5 inches

A new product from a Chinese company, made especially for us - opponents of shovels.

The smartphone has a rather large 5-inch screen, but an important role is played by the frames around the display, which in Huawei Nova are very thin. The width of the case is approximately the same as competitors with a smaller diagonal.

According to the Chinese, Nova is a mid-level premium smartphone. The design of the device is truly impressive - high-quality aluminum feels pleasantly cool on the hand, and it feels like the device is expensive. The technical characteristics are also decent - an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with a frequency of 2.0 GHz, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory. There is a memory card slot, a fingerprint scanner, a USB-C connector, and all this at a very affordable price.

It’s unlikely that just recently anyone could have believed that the smartphone market would become so huge and the cost of devices would drop so much. Today you can become the owner of an Android smartphone for just a couple of thousand rubles. What kind of smartphone is this? We have prepared several inexpensive models for you, about which we will tell you some interesting details.

Fly FS407 Stratus 6

The Fly company has long been known in Russia, primarily for its mobile phones and smartphones. Fly FS407 Stratus 6 is one of the least expensive smartphones on the Russian market.

Of course, you shouldn’t expect phenomenal performance from it for that kind of money. The buyer receives a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 854×480 pixels, one camera with the ability to record videos (2 million pixels), support for 3G technology, a relatively small amount of memory - 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory. The smartphone is powered by a Spreadtrum SC7731 processor.

You don’t even have to think about 4G or a fingerprint scanner - they are offered on models in a much more expensive price segment.

Alcatel Pixi 4 4034D

An inexpensive, simple and very popular device from Alcatel, a world-famous company.

Before us is a smartphone with a small 4-inch screen, two cameras (rear and front), support for 2 SIM cards, 3G, GPS (A-GPS), and bright colors on the back cover.

By the way, the Alcatel Pixi 4 4034D is based on the MediaTek MT6580M processor, although the memory capacity is similar to its competitors - 512 MB and 4 GB, respectively.

The Android operating system version is 6.0, although the same version of Android is installed on some competing smartphones.

Fly FS454 Nimbus 8

And one more Fly. We also found it somewhat strange that the Fly line includes two very similar smartphones in price, but after carefully reading the characteristics, you will understand that these are two different smartphones.

First of all, it’s worth mentioning the diagonal of the display - it has grown to 4.5 inches. Few? Not at all, this is quite a significant increase, but the resolution has not changed - 854x480 pixels.

What else? There is also a front camera (0.3 million pixels), a MediaTek MT6580M processor, and the battery capacity has increased to 1700 mAh. With all this, interestingly, the Nimbus 8 costs only slightly more than the Stratus 6.

Jinga A400

Jinga may not be the most famous company, but many users have already heard about it.

This is the A400 model. It has a 4-inch screen, two cameras (there is also a front one for selfies), GPS satellite navigation, and Internet access is provided by 3G technology.

The Jinga A400 is powered by a Spreadtrum SC7731 processor - this model is often installed on inexpensive smartphones.

The A400 features a vibrant back cover that can be red, orange or even purple.

Digma Linx A420 3G

The Linx A420 3G smartphone from Digma differs from its many competitors, and first of all this concerns the screen diagonal - it is, so to speak, non-standard - 4.2 inches. But the resolution is much more surprising - 1280x768 pixels, which is a very impressive figure for such a small display.

There are two cameras here, and the front resolution is higher than that of many competitors - 1.3 million pixels. There is 3G, Bluetooth, GPS. At the same time, the smartphone still runs on the same Spreadtrum SC7731 processor.

Micromax Q326

Another inexpensive representative of the smartphone family is Micromax Q326. You may have probably heard about this company; it produces a wide variety of smartphones, many of which are sold in Russia.

Pay attention to the appearance of the smartphone - it looks more expensive than it actually is. This feeling is created by the back cover, which in a silver shade resembles metal, although it is made of plastic.

What about the characteristics? In this regard, everything can be said to be standard: 4-inch screen, two cameras, Spreadtrum SC7731 processor, 3G, 1400 mAh battery.

Digma Linx C500 3G

If you are willing to overpay a little, you can look at the Digma Linx C500 3G smartphone. It differs from its classmates in having a larger screen diagonal - 5 inches. This is the optimal display size, especially for kids who love to play games.

In all other respects, it is a typical representative of the budget class: 3G, GPS (A-GPS), 2 cameras, again, Spreadtrum SC7731 processor, 1800 mAh battery.

The diagonals of smartphones are growing like mushrooms after rain. The market is flooded with devices with screens of 5 inches or more. It seems that manufacturers in this race have completely forgotten about those who do not like such large gadgets. They can be simply inconvenient to handle and do not fit well in the hand. Amazingly, today even versions of smartphones with the mini prefix rarely have a screen less than the notorious 5 inches. Small smartphones, although less in demand, still find their buyer, and Finding a more or less decent model with a small display is becoming increasingly difficult. To make your search easier, we've found the best compact smartphones on the market today. The rating includes devices with a diagonal less than 4.7 inches.

Apple is one of the few companies that has not yet excluded small smartphones from its lineup. Moreover, she was once reluctant to increase the diagonal, and recently she began to present two gadgets at once. In the fall of 2016, the iPhone 7 Plus with a diagonal of 5.5 inches and iPhone 7 4.7 inches. With this decision, Apple is trying to satisfy the tastes of different users, and we must admit that it is going the right way.

The smartphone is made in a design already familiar from previous models: aluminum, glass, thin body, streamlined edges. Compared to the iPhone 6s, which has the same diagonal, the device turned out to be a little lighter, but this did not affect the battery - its capacity even increased slightly. The company adheres to the principle that making the pixel density much higher than 300 ppi is pointless - this will increase the price, and for the user the difference between 300 and 400 ppi will remain invisible due to the peculiarities of our vision. Therefore, the company’s devices do not yet have screens with FullHD resolution or higher. iPhone 7 with given diagonal and resolution parameters has pixel density 326ppi. Color rendition and viewing angles are ideal.

As for the other parameters, the smartphone should be praised for its traditional high quality camera(there is optical stabilization) and fast operation. The device now supports LTE, Fingerprint's scanner And protection from dust and moisture IP67 rated, but lacks a 3.5 mm jack.

Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017)

Most recently, Samsung's A series smartphones have been updated, which are very popular among users around the world. Galaxy A3 is the most compact smartphone in the line and also the most inexpensive. The device lies very comfortably in the hand, strikingly different from smartphones, the diagonal of which is only slightly larger and is 5 inches. The company managed to create a truly convenient small smartphone, but without depriving the user of convenience when viewing websites, videos and social networks. It turned out perfectly balanced device.

The back panel, like the screen, is covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass 4 , the ends are made of metal. Possible colors: black, gold, blue and pink. Due to the rounded corners and 2.5D glass, the gadget has a stylish, streamlined appearance. AMOLED-display shows itself in the best possible way and pleases with the quality of color rendering. Implemented in the device new interesting AlwaysOn Display feature, which allows you to constantly display the screensaver on the display. There is nothing like it among our competitors.

I received the smartphone level protectionIP68 . This means that it is not afraid of dust and immersion under water for 30 minutes to a depth of 1.5 m. Under the display there is traditionally a physical key with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The device supports 2 SIM cards, NFCAndLTE, allows you to create good pictures. The battery is average, but it will last 16 hours of talk time. Considering that Samsung has always been able to make smartphones smaller than those of its competitors (its 5.2-inch devices can be compared in size to 4.7-5-inch devices from other companies), the Galaxy A3 is a truly compact smartphone. It fits easily in your hand and offers a full range of modern features, which small models often lack.

Sony Xperia X Compact

Sony is another large manufacturer that has not yet abandoned the production of small smartphones. In terms of price-quality ratio, this model can generally be called one of the best compact smartphones. The gadget has become recognizable futuristic design and exemplary build quality. The ends are completely flat, so you can even put a phone on them if you wish. The back panel, alas, is not made of metal or glass - plastic is used, but this does not spoil the overall impression. Moreover, the unique design will make the gadget stand out from the crowd of similar ones.

For a 4.6-inch diagonal, the HD resolution used here is more than enough. The manufacturer used several technologies that improve images while viewing photos and videos. The main feature of the model is the main camera with a resolution of 23 megapixels with laser focusing that allows you to create excellent, clear images. Moreover, the sound when recording video is recorded in stereo, and a distinctive feature is the ability to manually set the exposure time. The device has received support LTE, Fingerprint's scanner Branded STAMINA and UltraSTAMINA energy saving modes, performance is excellent.

Doogee T3

With this smartphone, the Chinese manufacturer wanted to stand out from its competitors and used a whole arsenal of features at once: Genuine Leather in the design of the rear panel, metal inserts, an additional screen and the presence of several interesting security applications. The result is a solid business model with a distinctive design. Users are captivated by numerous exclusive elements: a metal cover on the speaker and camera, polished ends, and leather extending to the lower part of the front panel.

Second display
located on the top end, beveled at an angle of 60 degrees for ease of viewing information on the screen. By default, it displays information about the time, incoming messages and calls, and missed events. The solution is quite interesting: business people will be able to see the required minimum of information even at a meeting when they cannot use the phone, and at night absolutely all users will appreciate the convenience of quickly finding out what time it is. In terms of other parameters, there is also nothing to complain about: the gadget is fast, productive and quite autonomous, and camera is good– the photos turn out quite good (surprisingly, since its characteristics are unremarkable). To summarize, it is worth noting that Doogee managed to create a very, very attractive smartphone with an excellent set of characteristics and a stylish, thoughtful design.

Uhans U100

Another smartphone, dressed in genuine leather and metal, and it is suitable for those who are looking for exceptional design, but are not ready to spend money. The Uhans U100 costs just under $75, which makes the smartphone a unique offer on the modern market. The leather together with metal inserts gives the device an expensive look, and one is tempted to compare it with one of the smartphones from Vertu.

Due to the small screen, the gadget fits perfectly in the hand; HD resolution is enough for individual pixels to be indistinguishable. The gadget received such a large weight for a 4.7-inch smartphone precisely because of the metal and leather inserts. In terms of other parameters, the device is, frankly speaking, average, but at this price, the available capabilities can only be praised. The smartphone will handle most applications perfectly, and the main and frequently used browser, social networks and instant messengers will not cause the device to freeze. The camera and battery also turned out to be at an average level. Yet, in terms of price and quality ratio, as well as taking into account the design, this is a very, very good smartphone.

Bluboo Mini

The smartphone was released quite recently, and the manufacturer clearly wanted to attract attention by using a device that is quite rare today. diagonal 4.5 inches. I received the device interesting design, its back cover is made of textured plastic, the ends are decorated with metal. There are several bright color options available. The smartphone turned out great obscenely cheap– you can buy it for $47, which is good news. True, at this price you shouldn’t expect miracles. The device copes well with simple everyday tasks, but many toys will not cope. The screen does not have the most outstanding resolution and air gap, but it has a good reserve of brightness and responds quickly to pressing – well worth the money.

Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016)

And here is a budget option from Samsung. The device is clad in plastic and has a traditional physical key. Its main advantage is its small screen, which makes the device light, compact and extremely easy to use. The gadget is suitable for an undemanding user who only needs calls and a few programs from a smartphone. Device catchesLTE, supports work with twoSIM-cards, pleases with its stylish design, the screen is made using AMOLED technology. The result is a pretty good smartphone for those who are looking for an economical option, but do not want to buy or wait for a Chinese-made device.

Huawei Y3 II

A nice, inexpensive, compact smartphone with a basic set of modern features. It was presented in April last year and is sold with Android 6.0 installed. Many manufacturers continue to add similar devices to their lines, which indicates the existing demand for them. Advanced, overly demanding users and geeks would call this device a dialer. You can argue with them. Not everyone needs an expensive smartphone with a bunch of features that will never be used. So why overpay? The device will handle most frequently used applications, will please you with its pleasant design, and will be easy to operate. The only thing I can complain about is the lack of LTE.

LG K3 LTE K100DS

Let's start with the fact that LG smartphones with a price of less than $100 should be treated leniently, after all well-known and proven brand. It's nice that the company has not forgotten that small smartphones are needed by the masses of users. The presented model pleases support 4G, thoughtful design and availability two slots forSIM-cards. It is worth noting that the device works more or less quickly, and what was surprising was the fact that it also holds the battery well, although the battery capacity is far from the highest.

ASUS ZenFone Go ‏ZB450KL

This model is worth praising for its availability Android 6.0, supportLTE and, of course, compact sizes. The device received a zen strip under the screen, characteristic of all ASUS smartphones. It evokes controversial feelings: some people like it because it makes it unique, others complain that it takes up a lot of space and makes the device larger. As for this model, I was pleased with it good performance: browsers, maps, instant messengers (what most users need) work without causing the device to freeze. The satellites are picked up perfectly, the interface is well-thought-out and simple, and the battery is not the worst among devices in this price segment. In terms of price-quality ratio, this is an excellent smartphone for those who have not yet gotten used to and do not want to get used to shovel phones.

5.5-inch devices have become a kind of norm for the entire market. Few manufacturers are trying to think about people who don’t like large smartphones. And the Galaxy S8, which at the start of sales did not seem very miniature, today feels quite compact compared to other flagships.

By the way, since we're talking about the S8, it's worth starting with it. The device is quite compact for its 5.8 inches. In addition, due to the 18.5:9 aspect ratio, holding the device in your hands is really comfortable. The device has one of the best cameras on the market and is equipped with a high-performance processor and fast memory.

iPhone 8

Yes, this is not an Android device, but the dimensions of the smartphone are still not bad. Today it is rare to find a 4.7-inch modern flagship device with powerful hardware and a good camera.

Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact

Of course, due to the frames at the top and bottom and sharp edges, the device will not fit very well in your hands, but the small display does its job. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with a Snapdragon 835 processor. Imagine the performance the gadget demonstrates at HD resolution. In addition, the device supports slow motion shooting at 960 frames per second.

Huawei P10

The 5.1-inch flagship from Huawei is not bad. It's hard to call it the best on the market, but it's definitely in the top ten. The smartphone received a Kirin 960 processor, 4 GB of RAM, a dual camera and a 3200 mAh battery. A good compact flagship for Huawei lovers.

LG Q6

A fairly new solution from LG, which is popular at least in Russia, according to Twitter users who share data on sales of retailers’ devices. The peculiarity of the smartphone is its 5.5-inch display and the absence of frames.

Based on materials from phonearena

Push-button phones are often used as a backup means of communication, but when switching from the main smartphone, users are deprived of convenient synchronization of contacts and instant messengers, which have already occupied the niche of short SMS messages and are beginning to displace voice calls. The startup Unihertz decided to fill this gap and introduced the Jelly mini-smartphone with a display diagonal of only 2.45 inches. The successor to last year's model received support for 4G LTE networks, added a little in characteristics and still fits in a small jeans pocket (although it is not as compact as the manufacturer tried to show in the picture above).

Everything you need

Jelly received a 2.45-inch touch screen with a resolution of 432x240 pixels. Inside there is a quad-core processor of an unknown model with a frequency of 1.1 GHz, the base model is equipped with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, but a Jelly Pro modification of 2/16 GB will also be available for sale. Two SIM cards are supported, and there is also a slot for microSD cards. The main camera is 8 megapixels, the front module is 2 megapixels. The company claims that the 950 mAh battery is capable of providing three days of battery life in normal mode or a week in standby mode. There is even a built-in GPS module. The gadget comes with Android 7.0 Nougat OS on board with built-in Google services. The case dimensions are 92.3x43x13.3 mm.

How much does it cost?

The team is raising funds for the release of Jelly through the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The campaign reached the minimum threshold of $30,000 in just the first hour after launch. Prices start at $69 for the standard model (first 500 copies and $79 for the next), and the Pro version will cost $95. The market price of smartphones will be $109 and $125, respectively. You can order an additional battery for $9, and a case with a wrist mount for sports costs $10. If all goes according to plan, deliveries are expected in August.

On Chinese online sites you can also find miniature smartphones, for example, for $50, but it has more modest characteristics and only works for a day.
