Video - How to remove the welcome screen in Windows 10

New operating room Windows system 10 is literally full of visual updates. There was not a single place where the design would not change. This also applies to such a section as the welcome screen. We see it every time we turn on the computer. Naturally, over time, the standard screen saver, which shines on the welcome screen, will get bored and you will want to change it. But how to do that?

Changing the background image

The deep blue color in which the welcome screen is painted, many get bored very quickly. And if the lock screen picture is extremely easy to change using the system, then with the login screen, everything is not so simple. Microsoft at creating Windows 10 did not provide for this possibility.

By the way, changing the annoying image on the blocking panel is quite easy. You just need to go through "Settings" to "Personalization" and find the corresponding item there.

Fortunately, third-party developers have taken care of this need. They created special utility wearing Windows name 10 Login Background Changer. This program is easily searched on the Internet and does not even require downloading. Simply launch it and select a new image on the screen.

How to use the utility

Need to find and download this application to your device. Preferably from trusted sources to avoid viruses infecting your computer. After that, the downloaded archive is unpacked into a convenient directory.

Important! Using the utility may cause errors in operating system, since it changes the original parameters. Although the probability is small, it is worth considering.

To run the application, you need to find the GUI folder in the selected directory and open it. It contains the W10 Logon BG Changer executable file. It is required to run the utility and work with it. For it to work correctly, you need to use administrator rights.

As soon as you start the program, an information window with a warning will appear. If you agree to the risk - just click on Yes and continue working.

So, we come to the most important thing - directly changing the image on the welcome screen. After starting the program, a gray window will appear on the right. It is necessary to select the file that will serve as a new background screensaver, which can be done by clicking on the “Background file name” (in Russian and English version located in the same place). There you find your file and then apply the changes.

Important! First, find out what screen resolution you have and fit the corresponding image to the size. Otherwise, problems may occur. At the same time, remember that an image that is too light will not allow you to see which username is registered. Of course, this is not critical for a single-owner PC, but it is very important for multi-profile devices.

After the procedure is completed, a notification will appear that the utility was able to replace the background image. And now it can be seen at every turning on Windows 10.

Question from user

Hello.

I used to have Windows 7, but then in the corner of the screen, next to the clock, a notification appeared to upgrade to Windows 10. Of course, after the upgrade, my picture from the welcome screen just disappeared ...

How now to change the picture on the welcome (lock) screen, i.e. the eye where the password is entered?

Good day!

In general, I would like to note that in the last Windows versions 10 you can now change the picture on the welcome screen without any third-party utilities and programs (for which a separate merci to developers, because this has never happened before, as far as I remember). Moreover, you can choose not only a specific photo, but also put it!

I'll show you how it's done below...

Lock screen customization

STEP 1

First you need to open Windows settings. You can do this through the START menu (see the screenshot below), or simply press the button combination win+i.

STEP 2

Then open the "Lock screen" subsection in the menu on the left, and in the "Background" tab, change the option "Windows: Interesting" on the "Photo" or "Slide show" (this is if you want to show more than one picture on the welcome screen, but several) .

In my example below, I'll show you how to set one specific picture (i.e. choose the "Photo" option).

STEP 3

After you set "Photo" in the "Background" tab, you can specify a specific picture for the lock screen (welcome): either select one of the default ones offered by Windows, or upload your own from your hard drive.

STEP 4

Further in the same subsection ("Lock screen"), a little lower, I recommend disabling the display of jokes and facts, and enabling the option "Show on the login screen background picture lock screen". Actually, after that, that's all that needed to be done!

STEP 5

To check what it looks like set background it is not necessary to restart the computer (laptop), just press the key combination Win+L (see example below, lock screen is now landscape selected) .

Picture on the lock screen // Check, everything works! (lock screen photo)

That's how easy it is to change the background of the lock screen, no additional. there is no need to use utilities for modern Windows 10.

By the way, in the first versions of Windows 10, there was no such option. I had to resort to various tweakers, for example, Tweaks.com Logo Changer (this application will quickly and easily put on the welcome screen a picture of your choice on your hard drive).

Additions are welcome.

All the best!
