What is better iPhone Samsung s7. Memory card slot

With the appearance of the iPhone 7 Plus on the market, many users will probably wonder whether it is worth purchasing a new gadget from Apple or still pay attention to worthy smartphones from other manufacturers and buy the flagships of Samsung presented this year. Here's a quick comparison of the iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and Samsung Note 7.

The devices have almost the same size and screen size, except for the Samsung Note 7, which is equipped with a 5.7-inch display (the screen size of the iPhone 7 Plus and S7 Edge is 5.5 inches). In the past, Samsung flagships tended to outperform iPhones in photo and video quality, but that has changed with the iPhone 7 Plus. The new 7 Plus features a 7MP front camera and 12MP dual rear cameras. The dual optics iPhone 7 Plus has a variety of cameras, one 28mm wide-angle f / 1.8 and another 56mm telephoto f / 2.8.

iPhone 7 Plus has a Retina HD display that's 25% brighter and now covers the full RGB gamut, but the resolution remains the same at 1920 x 1080 pixels. In turn, the flagships also have screens with a Quad HD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), which for many users can be one of the decisive factors when choosing a new smartphone.

The videos below showcase the performance, water resistance and damage resistance of Apple iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

Just last week, Apple unveiled its new flagships - the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Smartphones are already sold in full in the United States and in ten other countries, while pre-orders have just started in Russia. An ordinary buyer will be interested in why it is necessary to buy the new iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus, and not any other smartphone. In this comparison, four devices will face off: the iPhone 7 versus the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 7 Plus versus the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge came out a little earlier than Apple's devices. Many praise their quality Amoled displays, long battery life and good cameras. So what will happen if you compare gadgets from Apple and Samsung for every available criterion? See below.

If you still do not understand: in appearance, in many respects, the Galaxy S7 outperforms the iPhone 7. Samsung has a slightly larger screen and the smartphone itself looks more massive, but it has higher image quality and more pixels. The iPhone has 3D Touch functionality that the Galaxy S7 lacks. Both smartphones have water and dust resistance, and they are about the same: Apple has an IP67 standard, and Samsung has an IP68 standard. Both devices offer approximately the same performance from a single battery charge (Samsung has a slight advantage). Also, both have NFC, only Apple uses the technology only for Apple Pay, which does not work in Russia, and Samsung has a full-fledged NFC sensor. Galaxy S7 is available in colors: Onyx Black, Silver Titanium, Gold Platinum, Pink Gold. iPhone 7 is available in Silver, Gold, Space Gray, Rose Gold, Jet Black, Black.

That after an unsuccessful repair, the Galaxy S7 decided to buy another smartphone. True, in the end, the "seven" is in order, but I have already tuned in to a new one. You yourself understand how much you want a new product, especially since I went with S7 for more than a year - I'm fed up.

So, the question arose - what to buy? There are many interesting smartphones. For those choosing, I have a detailed article. Personally, I didn't want to experiment, last year was enough for me. So I didn't consider many options.

I was choosing between the new Galaxy S8 and the not-so-new iPhone 7. Why Samsung? I was very pleased with its predecessor S7 and was not even eager to change it - I was happy with everyone. Why iPhone? Because, as I have mentioned more than once, I am not a fan of any one mobile OS. I like both (well, we will not remember about WP), each has its own advantages and I can use each with pleasure. Actually, for the purposes of both personal and professional interest, from time to time I go from android to iOS.

As I mentioned, I almost lost my S7 due to its unsuccessful fall (the reason for which, of course, was the armless me). So I developed a kind of phobia regarding the falls. I didn't want to give a lot of money for a brand new flagship and crash it. So there were the following arguments for the iPhone 7:

1. It does not have the same curved edges of the screen as the S8, so there is less chance of splitting when dropped. In addition, you can use covers with rims above the display.

2. Again, because of the risk of splitting - iPhones are cheaper to repair and, according to independent estimates, are much more "maintainable" in comparison with Samsung.

3. iPhones lose less in price, and I usually don't go with one phone for a long time. It will be more profitable over time to sell and take something new.

4. What I have already spoken about - personal and professional interest. Experience the state of iOS today and whether it is easy to switch to it from the ex-flagship to Android.

About the arguments for the S8 a little later, and first a little about why I didn't rush to buy it right away. Firstly, when the S8 was announced, I did not feel any wild delight. Well “”, but somehow it looked strange. As the owner of S7, I was upset by the fact that they abandoned the key under the screen. Still, it is convenient with it, especially unlocking the phone with a fingerprint. The scanner has been moved from a button to the back panel - where I can't reach at all. Well, the strongly rounded edges somehow strained me, it seemed uncomfortable. Actually, at one time, for this very reason, I did not buy an S7 edge (well, it was also more expensive).

In general, having made a list of “for” the iPhone, I made an order and the next day I went to get the phone. AND GLORY TO GOD that she was wrong. It turned out that they would deliver the device only the next day. It would be sad if I did buy it.

And because after leaving the store I went to the communication salon next door. The prices there were not at all attractive, but I wanted to admire the pipes.

I picked up the seventh iPhone and something fell in my soul. Yes Yes exactly . There was no desire to possess it. First, he's BORING. Well, seriously, Apple has been using the same design for many years (since 2014). I have had an iPhone 6 for a long time - and that's nothing new compared to it, not interesting.

And the quality of the screen caught my eye. Let someone argue to the point of blue in the face that it is impossible to tell the difference between 750x1334 and 1440x2960. But I SEE HER.

OS - here I always say "a matter of habit". In my case, it's a matter of a couple of days, perhaps. But still, after Android, the system seemed inconvenient. For example, any "switcher" understands how at first the "back" button is missing. Or another trifle - I wanted to highlight a few photos, tried to do it with a long tap, but it's not that simple. First you need to click on the word “select” at the top of the screen, and then select it. That's kind of a trifle, but you need to rebuild. But, again, this was not the main problem.

Then I went to the S8 on the display case, took it in my hands and experienced ... well, yes, the true wow factor (not to say "orgasm"). Of course, I've seen him before, but in comparison with the iPhone, something "clicked". Samsung looks gorgeous, thin, light, modern, cool in the hand. The first feeling is that you seem to be holding only the screen. The iPhone does not look next to it.

And then I decided. After all, where did 50% of my iPhone purchase arguments stand? That's right, on the fact that I'm afraid to break the Samsung. But why be afraid, it is better just not to break. And while buying what you like.

Photos - Android Central

So I canceled my iPhone purchase and ordered an S8. And here are the pros for it:

1. Higher screen resolution and matrix quality - I personally see the difference. Well, the screen itself is larger than that of the iPhone, with a compact body size - thanks to the "frameless". By the way, the S8's screen is larger than the too gigantic (for my taste) iPhone 7 plus.

2. The same “wow factor”. The S8 looks awesome and is a pleasure to hold in your hands.

3. Samsung was slightly cheaper. But it would not be so important if I didn’t get MORE.

4. At the same (and even slightly lower) cost, I got a base 64 GB of memory, and not 32 GB, as in the iPhone 7. How important it is for a modern smartphone owner, you yourself understand. I could not overpay for an iPhone with 128 GB of memory. And Samsung also has a slot for memory cards, by the way.

5. Fast charging. It seems like a trifle, but it is convenient if the phone is discharged, and soon you need to run away somewhere. And then there is wireless charging, I don’t use it, but it’s probably important for someone.

6. Well, a bonus. I don’t know if this is a story in all markets, but when buying an S8 / S8 +, we give an additional 2 years of warranty (three in total). And also a certificate for a free replacement of the screen or battery once. I heard that a friend in Russia bought in the official Samsung store with the same bonuses.

I am happy with the choice. The little things that worried turned out to be insignificant. The rounded screen is not annoying. Instead of a fingerprint, I use an iris scanner. With regards to falls, I try not to drop (and have not dropped yet). I bought a lace around my neck (don't laugh), if I use my phone on the go, I put it on. I don’t take out my phone in an uncomfortable environment (well, for example, if all hands are already busy, and I have to run to the bus stop). And I bought a couple of reliable cases (even if they spoil the sexy look of the phone, but safety is our everything!). I plan to write a separate article about my impressions of using the Galaxy S8.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge or new iPhone 7? For many, this is the biggest question in the phone world over the past few years, as both manufacturers capture more and more of the flagship device market, staying ahead of each other in innovation.

Samsung, in particular, has made great strides in improving its design, and we absolutely love their latest generation of smartphones. But this is not the only thing that is impressive. The new 12MP camera is one of the fastest among its competitors and is considered by many to be the best deal available. One way or another, Apple is not going to give up its leadership position without a fight. Its new flagship, the iPhone 7, is faster than ever, and its f / 1.8 lenses gather more light for the best shots possible. This gadget also boasts optical image stabilization. The same is true for its rival from Samsung.

Knowing all this, it’s not surprising that it’s incredibly strong to see which of the cameras is better. Let's take a look at their specifications first and then continue with more interesting comparisons: real photographs.

1. Dynamic outdoor scene

The first competition includes a dynamic outdoor scene. A bright blue sky with an occasional cloud contrasted below the comparatively dim building. You can see for yourself that this turned out to be quite a difficult task for both devices, since they came up with completely different images: the S7 Edge with wider lenses left the building brighter, while the sky looks lackluster. In the pictures taken with the iPhone 7, we see more of the sky, and the building, the main subject in the picture, remains underexposed.

2. Green grass after rain

Fields of grass are a common background in photographs, which is why we were curious to see how both main camera modules deal with the green grass that the rain just got wet. It immediately becomes apparent that the Galaxy S7 Edge has one special feature: the green color in its images has a noticeable yellow tint. In photos taken with the iPhone 7, the grass has its natural color. It is also worth noting that the picture of the flagship from Samsung looks sharper, and the details on the iPhone are softer.

You may also have noticed that in the shots of the Apple smartphone, the details are a little blurred. Our hands may shake a little while taking pictures, but the average shutter speed (1/50) could also be the cause. In this regard, the Galaxy S7 Edge definitely outperforms its rival, demonstrating an excellent speed of 1 / 100th of a second.

3. Night portrait

We took this portrait at night, leaving the automatic mode on both smartphones. The results are incredibly different, with the iPhone 7 opting to use flash, while the Galaxy S7 Edge seemingly ditched the idea. Of course, in this round we counted the Galaxy as a victory, since the colors in his image remained natural. Against the background of the ship, we can see in detail, which makes the picture seem excellent. The iPhone ruined everything by lighting up the face and hiding the ship in the shadows.

4. Looking at the sun

Photographing against the sun is difficult, and the tutorials will tell you not to. But in our case, this will allow us to compare the cameras of both flagships. It looks like the iPhone 7 did a better job: in the photo, the sky, which hides behind dense branches, remains bright blue. S7 Edge has changed its tint to yellow again and the sky is not as blue as it really is. In fact, the lens was blinded by the bright rays of the sun.

5. Macro

If you are trying to take a macro shot of, for example, a flower that moves in the wind, then you need very fast autofocus. Samsung has made tremendous strides in this area with the introduction of its Dual Pixel autofocus system. It allows you to create crisp photos more often than others. When it comes to image quality, there are almost no differences between the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. The iPhone took the photo a little darker, but everything else, the details and colors look amazing on both devices.

6. Birdhouse in the tree

Here we can see that the iPhone's dark exposure turned out to be a real problem when we snapped this cute birdhouse in the tree. We were clearly trying to focus on it, but we never got the right exposure. Each time the photo came out too dark, which really upset us. The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, on the other hand, had no such issues. He chose a suitable, bright exposition and was able to show the birdhouse the way we wanted it.

7. Fish restaurant at night

The ship at night, turned into a fish restaurant, was the final test for both the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge. It's easy to see that the Galaxy's wider lenses capture more of the image, while the iPhone has a narrower field of view. This shot is another example of how the iPhone 7's default camera takes darker photos. They both got some pretty good photos, although this is a matter of personal taste.

Samsung or Apple, iOS or Android? The confrontation between the two tech giants continues, and the release of the seventh generation of flagship smartphones has renewed the battle for customers with renewed vigor. How gadget manufacturers try to attract potential buyers iPhone 7 and Samsung Galaxy S7? Let's try to compare the two flagships.

Display and housing

The Galaxy 7 has a larger 5.1-inch screen, while the American competitor has a 4.7-inch display. Accordingly, the resolution is also higher for the flagship from Samsung: 2560 × 1334(against 1334 × 750 at Aplle). This certainly pushes the S7 forward.

However, the iPhone settings are so good that you won't be able to notice the difference in pixel density with a normal glance. In addition, Apple has a 3D Touch screen.

Frame

Both gadgets can be purchased in one of four color options. In Galaxy, due to the glass coating, the case also has a glossy protective layer. The exterior of the iPhone is crafted from brushed aluminum ("Jet Black"). Both phones endure all sorts of tests well, are durable and fit well in the hand.

Due to the strength characteristics of anodized aluminum, the body of the Apple smartphone is more practical.

Performance and autonomy

The South Korean manufacturer produces the S7 in two flavors. China and USA ship with 4-series processor model SnapDragon from Qualcomm, and for the rest of the world - "seven" with an 8-core Exynos(Samsung's own design).

The heart of the seventh IPhone is the 4-core A9 processor - a proprietary creation from Apple. In performance tests - within a single core - the American smartphone is in the lead, but in terms of total indicators, both Galaxy S7 processors bypass it. In addition, the size of the "RAM" for the Korean is twice as large: 4 GB versus 2 for the iPhone. However, smartphones use different operating systems. At the same time, the Android system has long been famous for its resource intensity. In addition, its manufacturer - Google - is a third-party company for Samsung, which significantly reduces the ability to optimally adjust the performance of the gadget. While the iOS operating system is Apple's own development and, moreover, is much less gluttonous.

As a result, the performance of the two smartphones is comparable. The average user will definitely not notice the difference.

Autonomy

The iPhone has a 1960 mAh battery, while its competitor has a 3000 mAh battery. Plus, the Korean smartphone has a fast charging option.

Main cameras

The iPhone seven has a 12 megapixel camera. Compared to the previous generation of smartphones, it is 1.5 times faster, 30% less energy intensive and is capable of capturing 50% more light into its lens. In addition, the Apple camera is equipped with LED flash and image stabilization.

The Samsung camera with the same megapixel count is also good: it works great in low light, stabilizes the picture, and has many manual settings. Most experts consider South Korean technology to be the leader.

Price

Actual cost of models:
Galaxy S7 - from 35,000 rubles;
iPhone 7 - from 47,000 rubles.

Outcome

Considering all the characteristics and the starting price tag of the compared models, we can say that they are comparable to each other. If you are not an ardent Apple fan, ready to pay extra for a fashion brand, the best solution would be to choose the South Korean flagship Galaxy S7. If you prefer the iOS system and the quality of the iPhone components seems to be higher, buy the 7th generation of the gadget from Apple - it is clearly not inferior to its competitor.
