The DEPO Ego 470 DHR computer is built on the basis of Intel processor Pentium 4 520 (2800 MHz) and motherboard MSI boards 915G Combo-FR on the Intel 915G Express chipset, which supports two types of memory at once - DDR and DDR2. In addition to the graphics controller integrated into the chipset, the computer is also equipped with a budget MSI graphics card PCX5750-TD128 with 128MB DDR memory, 512MB random access memory DDR PC3200 and a 200 GB Western Digital Caviar IDE hard drive. Multimedia capabilities of the PC are realized due to the presence of the optical DVD ± RW-drive MSI DR8P and PCI TV tuner. In addition, to work with various storage media, there is also a USB 2.0 card reader for nine flash card formats.

Even a cursory analysis of the configuration of this PC shows that it cannot be classified as a high-performance home PC. Rather, it is an office PC or a home PC entry level which can be used, for example, to comprehend the computer alphabet, to study and surf the Internet, or to work with multimedia applications (watching DVD movies, creating music albums, storing digital photos, etc.); usage this computer as a gaming one is hardly possible. However, whatever this PC is intended for, certain positions of its configuration are clearly perplexing.

For example, it remains a mystery to us what the developers of this PC were guided by when they equipped it with an inexpensive MSI PCX5750-TD128 video card. For serious 3D applications, the capabilities of this card are clearly not enough, and for 2D applications the integrated video controller will be enough. However, this is only the first mystery of the DEPO Ego 470 DHR.

The second oddity of the configuration was the obviously illogical connection of devices. Thus, a hard disk with an ATA133 interface is connected to a single IDE channel on the motherboard, and the other two IDE channels of the motherboard belong to a RAID controller based on the VIA VT6410 chip, and a DVD ± RW drive is connected to one of these channels. In this case, all SATA connectors of the motherboard remain free. It would seem, what is so special about it? But the problem is that reinstalling the operating system on such a configuration can be very problematic. The fact is that to install an OS from a bootable CD-drive, you must first install the driver for the RAID controller, to which the DVD ± RW drive is connected. This procedure is quite typical, but only if a floppy drive is present on the PC.

There is another way out of the situation - using the disk image with the operating system on the DVD. However, this solution is only suitable for reinstalling the operating system, and not for installing a new OS.

A more logical way out of this situation can be considered using hard SATA drive, the price of which differs from the established one by two or three conventional units. When using a SATA disk, the IDE channel on the motherboard will be free, which will allow you to connect a DVD ± RW drive to it and avoid unnecessary problems during OS installation.

Well, the last mystery of this PC is its price, which is no less than 1110 USD. Where such a high price came from remains a mystery to us. Perhaps there will be hunters to spend the extra $ 300-400, but why is this necessary?
