The jiayu g4 phone will not turn on. JIAYU JY-G4 hangs on the splash screen after unsuccessful firmware

Yes, chinese phones are no longer what they were before. The time of impudent copies of well-known brands is slowly becoming history and more and more phones of their own Chinese production appear on the market under their own brands, the number of which is growing at an incredible speed. Moreover, according to technical specifications and the quality of workmanship, these phones are trying to get closer to eminent devices like Samsung, LG, HTC and the same Chinese, but already famous and releasing their flagship models, such as Lenovo, Xiaomi, Huawei and others.

One of the representatives of relatively fresh and inexpensive smartphones, and the same raw in terms of software is JIAYU JY-G4. I worked for myself, worked, and at one point I got stuck on the screen saver. This is how it looked

After such a nuisance, the user decided to try to flash the phone on his own. As a result, the phone also showed its name and was not going to do anything else.

The owner of the phone barely managed to achieve that he was flashing some kind of CyanogenMod assembly. Fortunately, the phone was able to enter Recovery mode... This gives us hope to make "wipes". Sometimes it helps with freezes.

To enter Recovery mode in JIAYU phones you need to take the following steps:

Connect the charger or USB cable to the switched off phone;

Hold down the "Vol +" button (volume addition button) and, while holding it, press the power button.

The phone will go into recovery mode, from which you can make all the "wipes" (resets).

To do this, use the "Vol-" button (volume down button) to move through the menu items. We reach the point "wipe data / factory reset" and confirm the selection with the "Vol +" button. The process will begin to erase all data and reset all settings to factory defaults.

In the same way, select the "wipe cache partition" menu item. Clearing the partition cache starts

After the performed operations, select the very first item "reboot system now". The phone will reboot. If there are no problems with the firmware, then the phone will successfully boot the OS and start normal operation.

1. Unzip all downloaded files;

2. Install the driver;

3. Open the SP FlashTool program;

4. Press the "Scatter-loading" button and in the window that appears we find in the folder with the firmware a file whose name ends with "_scatter.txt". This is a script file that tells the program which firmware files and at which addresses to flash. A list of files marked with a check mark should appear in the program window;

5. Press the button "Firmware -> Upgrade". The program switches to the search mode for the connected smartphone;

6. Remove the battery from the phone and connect the USB cable to it. The firmware process will start. At the end, a window with a green circle will appear, which indicates the successful completion of the firmware process;

7. Turn off the phone. We insert the battery and, very desirable, do the "wipe" procedure again (see above).

8. Turn on the phone. Please note that the first time the phone starts up, it takes a little longer to load than usual.

Phone booted successfully

That's all! Successful repairs !!!

  1. Download the SP program Flash Tool, scatter file and CMW Recovery.
  2. We connect the device to the PC.
  3. Extract the Flash Tool utility from the archive and double click we launch it.
  4. In the window that opens, click on the button and open the folder where the scatter file was uploaded (MT6592_Android_scatter.txt).
  5. We remove all the checkmarks, except for the checkmark opposite the item RECOVERY.
  6. In line RECOVERY in column Location click on the cell and indicate the folder in which our Recovery is located (it has the .img extension).
  7. Press the key Download with green arrow. Installing Recovery started.
  8. When the update is complete, a green circle will appear on the screen.
  9. Download and move the firmware file with the extension .zip to the root directory of the SD card.
  10. We enter Recovery. To do this, hold down the up key and connect the device to charger or a computer. Jiayu will appear on the screen, after which the volume key can be released.
  11. Before starting the flashing, we wipe the system. To do this, select the items in the menu Wipe cahce partition and Wipe data / factory reset.

If the update does not start after connecting the device to the PC, try to insert the battery for 5 seconds, and then remove or disconnect and reconnect the device to the PC.

Please note that after updating the firmware, all data and programs on the device will be lost. Therefore, we recommend that you first backup all data on the device.

There are two ways to flash a Jiayu G4 smartphone, the first is through your PC, using the SP FlashTools program, and the second is using CWM Recovery, without a PC. I will tell you how to reflash a smartphone using the SP FlashTools program.

An approximate procedure for flashing using the SP FlashTools utility:

1. First of all, download the driver Driver_Auto_Installer.zip (997 KB)

Then we download the utility for flashing our Jiayu G4 animal, that is, SP FlashTools SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1316.0.150.zip (7.36 MB)
Then in the download list is the recovery G4_Recovery.zip (5.46 MB) (the recovery is not fresh, but I sewed it and therefore I post it, then you can change it to a fresh version) and the firmware.

The last official one for the usual Jiayu G4 (1 Gb RAM / 4 Gb ROM, the processor frequency does not play a role at the hardware level) from 07/12/2013 can be found here: Firmware from 07/12/2013. And for flashing the wheelbarrow G4_2013.06.26.touch.screen.v29.zip (1.91 MB)
then first you need to install the firmware from 06/20/2013. I recommend installing several patches: to change the display of the subscriber to a call, in SMS and in the call list with First Name Patronymic Surname on Full Name, contact display in two lines, date display in the correct format in the call list, and Ukrainian letters in T9 - JY-G4_20130712_Contacts_ukr.zip (4.1 MB), permission for zip, tar, gz, z attachments in the email application JY-G4_20130712_eMail_unsafe.zip (2.03 MB)

2. After downloading all the necessary files, proceed with the installation of the drivers. Unpack the SP FlashTools, firmware and recovery files into a folder with a short name in the root of the disk, the main thing is that there are no Cyrillic characters in the folder name.
3. Run SP FlashTools as administrator.
4. In the program, indicate the path to the recovery, check the box on the line with the recovery, indicate the recovery file itself (a window will open), confirm that you are sure of what you are doing and click the Download button.
5. Connect your phone without battery.
6. Wait until a green circle appears, then turn off the phone.
7. Insert the battery, connect the phone either to the charger or to the computer (required, otherwise you will not enter the recovery), simultaneously press the power button and the volume up and enter the native recovery.
8. In recovery: make a wipe cache, wipe dalwick cache in the advanced section, factor resets and format system in the mounts and storage section (it must be done to avoid possible glitches both during the firmware process and after it), press reboot and turn it off battery.
9. In SP FlashTools, specify the firmware scatter and click Firmware Upgrade.
10. Connect the phone without a battery and without SIM cards (necessarily, there may be problems with the network).
11. Wait until a green circle appears, then turn off the phone.
12. In SP FlashTools, specify the scatter from the recovery, check the box on the line with the recovery, specify the recovery file itself (a window will open), confirm that you are sure of what you are doing and click the Download button.
13. Connect the phone without a battery and without SIM cards (necessarily, there may be problems with the network).
14. Wait until a green circle appears, then turn off the phone.
15. Insert the battery, connect the phone either to the charger or to the computer, simultaneously hold down the power button and the volume up and enter the recovery.
16. In recovery: make a wipe cache, wipe dalwick cache in the advanced section, factor resets (wipes must be done afterwards to get a pristine system), if necessary, install mods from the root of the card (described in paragraph 1), then press reboot and boot the phone, the first boot takes the longest (this is due to the setting of the Android system)
