Installing windows 7 from a USB flash drive to an asus. How to reinstall Windows on Asus laptop? Step-by-step instruction

Sad as it sounds, today there is a misconception that the problem of how to install Windows 7 on a laptop is quite complex and almost insoluble for an ordinary user. This is partly true, but often such myths are baseless.

Windows 7: first acquaintance

Windows 7 is one of the most popular and demanded systems among computer users. Very often it is installed not so much on stationary computer terminals as on laptops.

Among the versions available for installation, you can find several basic assemblies: initial, home basic, home extended, professional and maximum. Actually, which version the user chooses for installation depends only on him. In any case, the problem of how to install Windows 7 from a disk onto a laptop has a general solution for almost all models of any manufacturer. The same goes for installing operating systems from USB devices, popularly referred to as flash drives.

General concepts of installing Windows 7 on laptops

As for the answer to the question of how to install Windows 7 from disk to a laptop, usually there are no special problems here. This is understandable, because laptops are usually equipped with optical CD / DVD-ROM drives. So to install the system, it is enough to have the original disk or a copy of it.

In the future, of course, some specific situations may arise, but the same problems, for example, how to install Windows 7 on an HP laptop or on a model from another manufacturer, mostly appear only at the final stages of the installation process and most often come down to the correct installation of device drivers. This will be discussed a little later.

Installing Windows 7 on Netbooks

Another thing is when a user tries to install an operating system on a netbook. This is where, in most cases, problems begin. This is due to the fact that there are no optical drives in netbooks, and the installation of the system must be done from a flash drive. However, here, as practice shows, the problem of how to install Windows 7 on a Lenovo laptop or some other model also has a general solution.

Here, the fundamental link in the installation process will be the correct recording of the image of the installation distribution to a removable USB-drive, and this must be done in such a way that the flash drive is bootable, and the launch must be carried out before the start of the already present system, if there is one on board.

Preparing the disc

Now let's look at some preliminary steps, without which the question of how to install Windows 7 on a laptop cannot be resolved. It is good if the user has an original disk with a specific version of the operating system. But what to do when he is absent?

In this case, you need to either make a copy of it, or burn the installation disc from a previously created image. You can create such an image using any program such as UltraISO or Daemon Tools. In addition, you can use the standard tools of the OS itself and create a bootable disk.

The first option looks preferable, since this is how you can create an exact copy of the distribution kit, which will practically not differ from the original in anything. It seems that there is no need to explain exactly how this is done, since the very process of writing an image to disk in all programs is very similar. Sometimes only menus and corresponding commands differ. It boils down to using the image recording functions, after which a blank optical medium is inserted into the drive, and then the path to the previously created image file is indicated. The image itself is created using the same programs using the appropriate function and saving the image file on the hard drive or in a logical partition.

Creating a bootable USB drive

In some cases, for example, the answer to the question of how to install Windows 7 on an Asus laptop (or any other) may directly depend on the device model itself. As it is already clear, we are talking about netbooks, although they are referred to as laptops. Here you will initially need to create a bootable USB flash drive.

This is done using the above software packages, with the only difference that the image is recorded not on an optical disk, but on a removable USB drive. The pre-imaging remains unchanged. Below will be shown how to install Windows 7 from a USB flash drive on an Asus laptop. And this does not apply to any particular model or manufacturer.

Mandatory BIOS settings

In the preparatory process, an understanding of how to install Windows 7 on a laptop through BIOS is of no small importance. The fact is that when using the default BIOS settings, the already installed OS (for example, Windows XP) will simply ignore the media with the "seven" distribution kit. Here you need to take a responsible approach to setting the order of priority of boot devices.

To enter the BIOS, depending on the laptop model and the manufacturer of the BIOS itself, the Del, F2, F12 keys, etc. can be used. Now you need to find the Boot (Boot Sequence) section or something similar, where the Boot Device Priority line will be indicated ... By default, the first device is the HDD.

If you intend to install the system from an optical disc, you must specify the CD / DVD drive as the first device. If the question is being decided, say, about how to install Windows 7 from BIOS on a laptop when a USB flash drive is used, of course, it is this drive that needs to be specified as the first priority device. However, sometimes there may be problems with the fact that the USB drive in the settings may not be displayed. The main reason why this happens is only that the flash drive must be inserted into the corresponding USB port before turning on the laptop (netbook) and calling the BIOS settings.

After all the settings have been made, it is necessary to save the changes before exiting (Save and Exit Setup), after which a reboot will take place. If everything is done correctly, the Windows 7 installation should start from the selected media.

Start installation and formatting partitions

So, the start is made. Don't be in a hurry to rejoice. Of course, the installation process is automated. First, as usual, you need to select the system language, time and date format, and then specify the keyboard layout. Note right away that entering the activation key and license has been postponed until the end of the process. The fact is that the "seven" can work in normal mode for up to 30 days as an ordinary shareware program.

Now, in the question of how to install Windows 7 on an HP laptop (or other models), you should correctly choose which version of Windows 7 should be installed. This is due to the fact that the license key is designed specifically for a specific assembly and, after installing any other, will not lead to system activation simply because of its discrepancy.

Now it remains to accept the terms of the agreement for installation and use. Next, a window will appear in which there are two types of installation: update and full installation. Almost all experts and users recommend making a complete installation from scratch (before starting the process, you need to copy the files and folders necessary for the user, since formatting will destroy the data). Another advantage of such an installation is the fact that the new system will not "pick up" from the old system errors or, even worse, viruses.

Problems arising at the initial stage of installation

The installation wizard will prompt you to select a partition where the fresh OS will be installed. Its formatting will need to be done. And as it turns out, it is at this stage that the question of how to install Windows 7 from a USB flash drive to a laptop (or from an optical disk) may seem insoluble, since the system flatly refuses to perform the formatting operation, and sometimes also indicates that formatting is necessary hard drive driver.

We must say right away that you should not be intimidated by such messages. In fact, this is only due to the fact that some hard disks may contain incorrect MBR boot records or errors in disk layout. In some cases, the problem may be related to the presence of different file systems on disks and their partitions.

You can get out of this problematic situation by running the command line directly during the installation process. To do this, use the keyboard shortcut Shift + F10. In the window that appears, enter the bootrec / fixmbr command to restore the bootloader.

Sometimes, in solving the problem of how to install Windows 7 on a Lenovo laptop (or something else), re-entering the BIOS can help, where in the SATA controller settings you need to change the access mode to the hard drive from AHCI to IDE.

After that, you need to return to the installation. In this case, the problem of how to install Windows 7 on an Asus laptop (as an example) when the above error occurs should disappear, and you can proceed to directly format the disk or partition (you need to click on the "Formatting" hyperlink below). It remains to wait until the end of the process, after which a window will appear indicating the main steps that will be applied during the installation process.

Initial system settings

At the end of the installation process, the user will need to enter the laptop name, username (if prompted), and then the product serial number.

After the above steps, the same answer to the question of how to install Windows 7 from a USB flash drive to an Asus laptop or Acer netbook (or even from a disk to other device models) comes down to setting the time zone, time and date. Then, if you wish, you can make and configure the network. If there is no clear confidence in the choice of the type of network, you can postpone this process until later.

When everything is done, the first start of the system will take place, after which the familiar "Desktop" will appear.

Installing device drivers

But that's not all. It should be understood that some versions of the "seven" (especially unofficial ones) are supplied without the necessary driver package. For example, the problem of how to install Windows 7 on an Acer laptop with a full set of drivers can be solved quite simply if, when purchasing the device itself, there was a special disk with drivers among the additional software. This applies to any laptop model.

As a rule, this issue is solved quite simply. True, the drivers will have to be installed manually if there is no special "Wizard" on the disk, which, upon startup, will install absolutely all device drivers that are present in the laptop itself as components. As you can see, the problem of how to install Windows 7 on a laptop is not as bad as some users tend to describe. Yes, of course, you will have to pay attention to some specific settings and solving problems during the installation of the "seven", but this can be solved by a user of any skill level. As they say, there would be a desire and a little patience.

Installing additional utilities

As for additional software, the problem of how to install Windows 7 on a laptop with all the system's capabilities is also solved quite simply. It will be necessary to additionally install an antivirus, archiver, codecs, office programs, etc. However, if all this is on the original disk, there is nothing to think about, it is worth installing applications from such a disk (usually Acronis is present as a shell).

It goes without saying that during the installation of the system itself or at the end of the work of the "Wizard", you can split the hard drive into logical partitions. There are a lot of utilities for this today. Even some discs have their own tools like Partition Magic, etc.

Compatibility issues with Windows 8

Finally, about one more problem. Let's say we need to decide how to install Windows 7 from a flash drive on an Asus laptop with a preinstalled figure eight. 7 and 8 systems have different file systems. Although the G7 is believed to support G8 file systems, it is actually a conditional statement. In practice, this creates a lot of embarrassment. A way out of this situation can be the inclusion of Legacy compatibility mode in the BIOS and the subsequent conversion of the "eight" partitions from GPT or UEFI to the standard "seven" MBR format.

Conclusion

Probably, many have already noticed that the question of how to install Windows 7 on a laptop, although it has several specific points that will have to be paid special attention, is nevertheless not too difficult. Depending on the laptop model, you may need to tinker at times. But if all the settings are made correctly, and even in the kit there is an original CD with drivers, you don't need to strain too much.

Today I will tell you an epic, how I put windows 7 on a laptop Asus X55A, which already had windows 8. The task looks trivial. What could be easier, demolish 8 and put 7. But it turned out to be more interesting and more difficult, this work took much more time than I expected.

The first problem arose when I tried to boot from the dvd drive. There was simply no choice of where to boot from. In principle, no problem, we go to the BIOS and…. there is also no choice of devices. This puzzled me a little. The hard disk is registered and it is proposed to add a device. Well, why then is there the Internet, not for sitting on social networks.

After carefully studying this issue, I am sharing a solution to this problem. In the BIOS settings, in the "boot / boot" tab, you must enable " Launch CSM". In the "security / security" tab, disable " Secure Boot Control". Save changes and exit. Press "F2" to enter BIOS setup again. And here it is, a menu familiar to the eye, with a choice of devices for loading. We boot from the installation disk, install windows 7.

Then the next ambush awaited me. At the first reboot, the laptop just freezes .. The choice of 64/32 did not help either. Everything stopped at loading the drivers for the hard drive. I had to spend a lot of time again to understand what the problem was.

It turned out to be tough the disk is formatted for GPT and accordingly, windows 7 refused to be installed. There are many tips on how to convert a disc to preserve the information you want. In my case, there was nothing of value in the laptop, therefore, I just formatted the entire disk. This turned out to be not enough, I also had to clean the boot sectors using Acronis Disk Director, from the remnants of windows 8.

That's the whole story. For the most part, many of the challenges we face are not unique. But it takes time and effort to find a solution that suits a particular case. I hope my article will help someone too)

Good day, dear readers of the blog site. Today we will deal with the question "" on your computer, it does not matter whether you have a laptop, or a regular one (stationary computer).

Although some say that there are differences in installation, in fact, the difference is very small, and this article will be enough for you to understand and install the OS (operating system) both on a laptop and on a regular computer.

Target: Learn to reinstall the windows 7 operating system.

How to install windows 7 from a flash drive is also not difficult. Let's first define what you want to do? Reinstall or install the system on your computer? Personally, I will give an example namely reinstallation, but do not be alarmed, read the article carefully, and the question of how to install or reinstall windows 7 will not arise in the future!

My example will be given on my friend's laptop, the reason for reinstalling - it just began to work poorly, slows down, freezes, etc. So let's get started.

We need a disc with the operating system itself, a DVD drive (aka a floppy drive and an optical drive), straight arms and a bit of patience. Where can I get the OS? The operating system can be downloaded from the Internet there are just a bunch of them, it is advisable to download windows 7 Maximum, it is the most complete and works perfectly.

Although I prefer windows xp, by the way, I will write how to install this system in the future, subscribe to blog updates and follow the news.

I download the assemblies from this site chipxp.ru both windows xp and windows 7. Just keep in mind that the seven is given for only 30 days for informational purposes, and the pig (windows xp) is already cracked, that is, hacked. Under the seven, you can use the keygen (aka a fake key - in a nutshell), but do this at your own peril and risk. How to grunt, I'll tell you too 😉

Downloaded the image, burned it to a disc, half the battle in the hat! If you do not know how to burn discs, subscribe to the lessons, and I will be happy to share this information.

We insert the disc into the optical drive, reboot the laptop and enter the bios. Many are damn afraid of this word BIOS, there is nothing difficult and deadly in it, especially if you DO NOT click anything, but strictly follow the instructions!

On different computers, bios is called in different ways, it can be the keys: Esc, f10, f2, del, on some hp models I met the Tab call key.

Found the key you need, called up the bios window. The very first window that you will see is general information, it is located on the Main tab (see photo).

There is nothing to touch here, the arrows on the keyboard move to the Boot tab.

What do we need here? And here we need to set it to boot from the dvd drive, find the line Boot option # 1 (in my case) and set our drive there, in my case it is marked in red, then press "enter". We press the f10 key (save the settings), confirm, press the Esc key and the computer went to reboot.

Great, everything is going according to plan. As soon as your pet picks up the download from the drive, you will see an inscription of such a plan (see).

Which can be translated as “press any key to boot from dvd drive. We press any button and we see such a picture.

Windows downloads the required files. We are waiting for the end of the download and see a window of such a plan (see photo)

In this window, you must specify the language, time format and keyboard layout. Often, they leave "Russian" everywhere, press the "next" button, then install.

And again a window of such a plan pops up, in which you need to specify the desired operating system "Windows 7 Maximum", it happens that the choice is not provided.

Then the license agreement follows, put a tick that we agree and click "next". For yourself, you can read what they write there;). 10 seconds is enough for our people to familiarize themselves with the CD.

Then comes the installation type, choose the lower option - full installation.

And finally, we got to the most crucial moment, if you reinstall the system, you can accidentally confuse the disk on which install windows 7 and all your data will fly away.

Do not rush, it is better to spend a little more time at the initial stage than to wait for days afterwards until your information is restored.

Look, there is such a nuance: many people make the system disk (drive C) large in volume - this is WRONG! Disk C should be no more than 50-70 GB, only the operating system and all the necessary programs are installed on it, those that can be removed in the future without regret.

Store all important files: music, photos, videos, pictures on the second (logical) disk!
We select the partition on which the OS will be installed, you can simply format it, but I act through deletion: I delete the main partition and the partition reserved by the 100MB system.

Then I just create a section.

I format and install windows 7.

What is the difference between setting and reinstallation? The difference is that when installing on a new PC, you need to mark up the partitions yourself, and not format the ready-made, pre-divided one.

We are waiting for the necessary files to be copied, at the time of installation, the computer will be restarted several times, do not press anything!

Wait for such a window (see photo)

Enter the desired computer name in it and click next. You will be greeted by the following window where you can set a password for the user, I leave it blank, that is, no password.

The desktop is being prepared, perhaps the computer will go to reboot again - that's how it should be.

After you see a clean desktop, I can congratulate you. Now you know how to install windows 7. But the workflow is not yet complete, you need to check which drivers were not installed and deliver them.

To do this, on the shortcut "my computer", right-click and from the context menu select the item "Management", in the window that opens, look for "Device Manager".

A list of all devices that are in the computer will appear on the right, items marked with a question and exclamation mark require the installation of drivers.

Drivers can be taken from the Internet, often from the official site, you can also use the disk that came with the motherboard (if a stationary PC) or with a laptop.

After installing the drivers, you need to install programs: office programs, archivers, graphics, etc., at your discretion.

Reinstall Windows several times, fill your hand and you will no longer need to pay 500-800 rubles for reinstalling the system by calling the wizard at home.

If you still have questions, ask them in the comments.

Best regards, Mikhed Alexander.

ASUS X501A. It was necessary to install Windows, and everything you need is shorter on a turnkey basis :). I twisted it and found that it does not have a CD / DVD drive. And this means that you need to create a bootable USB flash drive and install Windows 7 from it. Also, the drivers for it on the disk are included in the kit, you also need to rewrite it to the USB flash drive. In general, it is strange, a laptop without a drive, and a driver on a disk. You need to put the driver in the kit on the USB flash drive, or an external drive :).

Anyway. I created a bootable USB flash drive. First created using a special program Windows 7 USB / DVD Download Tool(I wrote about this), but I’ll say, running to the front, that for some reason 7 did not go from this flash drive. The white cursor just blinked and the installation did not proceed. I wrote it down and it worked. Why so, I did not understand :).

That's it, the flash drive is ready. Now you need to install the boot from this flash drive in BIOS. Now I'll tell you how to do it.

We set the boot from a USB flash drive on an Asus laptop

We go into the BIOS. For me, and most likely for you, this is a key F2(if not, try DEL too). Press it immediately after starting the laptop.

The flash drive should already be connected to the laptop!

As you can see (in the screenshot below), under my Boot Option # 1 there is a hard drive. And under Boot Option # 2 flash drive. You need to install a flash drive under # 1.

To do this, click on Boot Option # 1 and select the USB stick. And the hard drive will automatically take second place.

You can return to the previous menu by clicking on Esc and you will see a USB device is installed under Boot Option # 1.

Don't forget to click F10 and Yes to save the settings.

Everything, after restarting the laptop, the boot from the USB flash drive should go (if it is created correctly).

There is one caveat. Perhaps I was mistaken when setting the parameters in BIOS, there probably you just had to create another rule for loading (Add New Boot Option). But that's okay.

If you did everything like me, then most likely, during the installation of Windows, after the reboot, the boot from the USB flash drive will start. And you need to Drive C to proceed with the installation. I'm just at the moment of reboot Pulled out a USB flash drive... And when the download started from the C drive, I inserted it back (although, it seems like it is no longer needed for installation, the files have already been copied, but I could be wrong).

Interested in installing Windows 7 from a USB flash drive to a laptop? This means that your computer does not have a drive or it is broken.

What to do in a situation where it is not possible to boot from a CD? There is a solution: you can install the operating system from a USB flash drive.

Before starting the description of the process of installing Windows from a Flash card, we will list all the main stages of this process, and then we will consider them in more detail:

  • First: preparing the laptop for installing the operating system (in this case, Windows 7)
  • Second: flash drive preparation
  • Third: setting up UEFI to boot "operating system" from a Flash-card.
  • Fourth: installation itself.

Note: UEFI is a replacement for the outdated BIOS.

Preparing a laptop for installing Windows 7

First, you need to transfer all the necessary files and documents from drive C to drive D. Usually they are located in the folders "My Documents" and on the "Desktop".

The installation files for some applications should be found in the Program Files folder.

Alternatively, you can transfer all important information to another flash drive (not the one with which the installation is taking place).

Preparing a flash drive for installing an operating system

First, delete or copy all the necessary information from the flash card, because files and folders will be deleted from it automatically in preparation for installation.

The flash card must be at least 4 GB in size.

Then you will need the Windows 7 installation files and folders, preferably a disk image in iso format, the UltralSO utility for installation (you can download it by typing an identical query in the search).

Everything is ready? Then let's get started:

Download, install and run the utility. Here's what you'll see:

Click "Trial period". A new window will open in which you need to select "File" - "Open" and point to the image from which the operating system will be installed.

Then insert the USB flash drive into your computer and select the "Format" item. After the process is complete, click "Burn".

The process will end and you will have a flash drive with the Windows 7 operating system dropped onto it. Now you can proceed to another stage, in fact, the installation itself.

Advice: It is not necessary to use the exact utility described in the article. It is just one of many programs, thanks to which you can create an installation flash drive.

Configuring UEFI to boot "operating systems" from a USB flash drive

It will not work just to insert the USB flash drive into the computer, it is necessary that the computer boots from it when it is turned on. How to do it? Using UEFI. It is in every computer.

It contains all the vital settings. One of them is the boot order. We will stop at it.

To enter UEFI, press a specific key on your keyboard when the system boots. (This key is different for many laptops, it is displayed on the screen. Usually it is F2 or Esc).

When you enter, a menu will open to you, you will immediately recognize it by its blue or gray color.

Many do not have time to press the Windows entry key in time and the computer simply boots. In this case, you should reboot and try again.

After entering, you should enter the menu and find in the settings the order of device boot. Here are some screenshots for example:

Use the arrows to select the device to boot first. For newbies, there is a dedicated UEFI navigation help. She is always in a prominent place.

Choose USB-HDD. Then exit UEFI using the Save and Exit button. All changed information will be saved. The computer will automatically restart.

Now we move on to the next step, the very final one.

Installing Windows 7

If you did everything correctly and correctly set the settings in UEFI, then you will see the inscription "Press any key to boot CD or DVD."

Of course, in English, so the screenshot is attached:

Advice: It often happens that there is no inscription. This suggests that you are wrong somewhere. You should go to UEFI again and check if all the boot settings you made from the USB flash drive have been saved. If everything is correct, it means that your flash card is not bootable at all, and for the operation you need to look for another image of the operating system and record it.

It may so happen that the installation image contains, in addition to Windows 7, utilities. In this case, you need to select the item that is suitable for starting the installation.

Good news: almost all of the operations listed below will be performed automatically by the computer.

And all the settings that you don't like can be changed to your taste after the installation is complete.

A window will open in which you need to select which version of Windows 7 you will install. Click on the one for which you have a security key.

It is often glued to the lettering on the bottom of the laptop. The system will ask for it before finishing the installation.

You don't have to enter the key right away. You can do this within a month.

A window with a license will pop up, put a tick on "Agree" and move on.

Then we select the complete installation.

Click "Disk Setup". Usually, beginners have difficulties here, so let's take a closer look at this point.

Disk setup

It happens that on the hard disk, in addition to the standard partitions (C, D, E), there are several more.

This is due to the fact that when restoring the system, it was possible to bring the computer to its standard settings.

Some find hidden size, up to 100 megabytes. The operating system itself is responsible for its creation. The section performs the function of encryption of the system.

The section has a program that can decode it.

But you should get rid of it. Before installing Windows, it is necessary to prepare the hard disk for the operation in advance. This can be done using the Acronis Disk program.

In the window that appears, click "Format".

A warning will pop up that all data will be destroyed, but now it doesn't matter, because we have a backup copy of all data. Click "OK".

When the formatting happens, feel free to click on.

The installation will take some time. After it, a window will pop up, in which the user will be required to enter names: his own and the computer.

Optionally, you can come up with a password. In order not to forget him, you will be asked to come up with a hint for him.

Choose the security mode, date and time.

With the installed network card driver, you should select the type of connection.

You can install the drivers and programs you need

So that after installing Windows at startup, the laptop boots from the hard drive, and not the flash drive, you should return the UEFI settings to their original state.

This completes the installation of Windows 7 on the laptop!

As you can see, there is nothing difficult in installing an operating system from a USB flash drive. The main thing is to carefully follow the listed points, and you will succeed.

One time is enough to memorize the whole process.

The next time you need to install an operating system from a Flash card, you will do it automatically.
