We'll do a mirror image in Photoshop in a few minutes. I will describe each step in detail and illustrate everything with pictures. This effect is very often used by designers and photo processors.

I'll show you how to make a mirror image using these fruits as an example. Open the photo in Photoshop.

First, we need to select the fruits. To do this, use the Lasso tool, it can be found in the toolbar.

Select the fruits. The upper part can be highlighted with a white background - no big deal. But you should try to highlight the lower one evenly, without unnecessary background, only fruits. Since this part will lie under the image of the fruit and serve as a reflection.

Press CTRL + C - to copy the selected image. After that press CTRL + V to paste the image, it will automatically appear on a new layer. This is how we duplicated the fruit image. From this copy, we will make a reflection.

Now press CTRL + T a transform shape will appear. Click on the fruit with the right mouse button, a menu will appear - select "Flip Vertical". By doing this, we have inverted the image.

Move the reflected fruit down.

Next, you need to substitute them under the fruits that are above. Press CTRL + T, the transform shape will appear. Move the cursor to the corner of this shape, you will see how the cursor takes the shape to rotate the image. Now clamp left button mouse and rotate the image. Turn it so that it fits exactly under the fruit, as if serving as their continuation.

Now for this layer set the opacity to 40% so that the specular reflection is realistic and slightly transparent.

So, this method works no matter what version of Photoshop you are using CS6, CS5 and even the online version. I work for CC.

After you open a photo in Photoshop, you need to unlock it for editing. Without this, you will not be able to use most of the functions. Click on the lock to the right of the layer thumbnail.

Now press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + T.

Right-click anywhere in the selection. Will open extra menu with many functions for turning: vertically, 180, 90 degrees. Now you choose Flip Horizontal.

Done, you have flipped the image mirrored. If your photo has any logos or mentions trade marks and you do not want your readers to see them, then this is an easy way to complicate the task. On many TV channels it is now used.

If you don't like using the keyboard shortcut, you can go to top panel select "Edit", then "Transform" and "Flip Horizontal".

Mirror effect

The first step is to prepare the background. As a rule, professionals work with light and black to see the result in different colors. To do this, you will have to learn how to work with gradients,. If you have problems - read my detailed step by step instructions.

Create a layer, then under the Paint Bucket tool find a gradient and fill the layer radially in dark tones. Can be used from color #655959 before # 3f3535.

Now we need to create another layer with a light color. Click on the icon next to the basket. Or in the "Layer" tab of the top menu, select "Create a new layer".

You can use the keyboard shortcut Shift + Ctrl + N. By the way, I recommend that you keep a notebook where you will write down all the hotkeys. There are many of them in Photoshop, but they make the job much easier.

At first, you can write down the keyboard shortcuts that you use each time. Suppose they forgot - looked and recorded again. I managed to remember on my own - there is no need to look for honor, praise and a pen. At one time I studied English in this way. It helps. You sit until the last, until you remember without prompts, so as not to write the same thing a hundred times.

Fill the top layer in light colors from # cdc6c6 before # 948d8d.

Reduce the drawing a little. To make it shrink proportionally, while moving the mouse, hold down shift on the keyboard. Once you're done, apply the changes by pressing Enter.

On the thumbnail of the layer, right-click and call the additional menu, in which select the function "Rasterize layer".

In the same menu, click also on "Duplicate Layer" or use the key combination Ctrl + J.

Now you need to press Ctrl + T, "Transform", and inside the object, right-click, as I described in the previous paragraph. Select the Flip Vertical option.

Drag the new layer down, it can be done in the current state. Or press Enter to finish transforming, select the Move tool (intersecting arrows) and drag the new layer down.

Add. Rectangle with a circle inside. I have already described this function in detail. It is a bit like an eraser: it erases objects or makes them transparent.

Now you will need the gradient again. From black to white, but this time mirrored (in the screenshot, marked with the number 3).

Draw a line somewhere from the middle of the object from the first visible layer to the end of the "reflection", as shown in the picture.

Be careful when you apply the gradient, the white frame should be on the layer mask to the right of the sketch. Double click it and you can adjust the density, make the reflection transparent.

Now we need to blur the object a little, since there is no “pure” reflection in nature. Click on the thumbnail of the layer itself to apply the editing to it. In my case, with the image of an apple. Then go to the "Filters" - "Blur" - "Gaussian Blur" tab.

Adjust the radius as you like. It all depends on the resolution of the source. In my case, 5 is perfect.

You can turn off the visibility of the light gradient layer by clicking on the eye next to it and see how the photo will look against the dark one. It remains only to choose the best way.
