In the fall, Acer has strengthened its position by releasing the 3G version of this model (A501), as well as a seven-wing tablet, but also with Android Honeycomb (A100).

In 2012, Acer continues the same strategy (which could be conditionally called "more promptly and cheaper") and produces the first tablet on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich - Iconia Tab A200. Today we will meet him.

Well, from the comparison of the characteristics you can make several conclusions. First, it is obvious that the Iconia Tab A200 refers to a lower price segment than flagship models ASUS and Apple. Secondly, it is, of course, less attractive than the Iconia Tab A510 (due to what works on Tegra 2, and not on Tegra 3, as well as due to the lack of HDMI output). But this should be compensated by the price.

Thirdly, Iconia Tab A200 retains the main features of A500, but there are some differences. The main thing is a positive difference - Android 4.0 instead of Android 3.0. This tablet uses a matrix of type * VA, as a result, the screen has very good viewing angles without inverting shades, even with large viewing deviations from perpendicular to the screen. The screen is not very bright, which can interfere with the use of the tablet during the outside of the room, however, the tablet is perfect for watching movies, since the used type of the matrix differs from any, even the most advanced IPS minor diagonal flames of black field and high contrast.

We also note that the screen is sometimes reacting quite strange to touch. In particular, it was very difficult to play Shadowgun: click on the shot, and for some reason the position of the camera changes ... Platform

The tablet works on the old good NVIDIA Tegra 2. In principle, the performance and functionality of this system on the chip is well known for us. But, nevertheless, we will execute our standard tests.

In Quadrant Standard, the tablet demonstrated a normal "average" result - 1974 points. At the same time, we note, many tablets on Tegra 2 remained a bit behind (for example, Sony Tablet S and Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet).

The result in Sunspider 0.9.1 is also without special surprises: 2160 ms.

In the Super Pi processor test, the Super Pi showed itself better than the ASUS Eee Pad Slider on the same SOC, but before the results of Tegra 3 are still far away.

In the complex Antutu Benchmark 2.7.3, the tablet scored 4927 points, which is close to the results of other tablets on Tegra 2.

Of course, at the moment the performance of Tegra 2 looks insufficient. In particular, this tablet, even with the activation of hardware acceleration (in Dice Player), could not play the MKV file 720p without loading. But, however, for the smooth operation of the Android 4.0 interface, this is quite enough, as well as for the last year's games.

Operating system and applications

The tablet comes with a pre-installed Android OS 4.0. However, Acer has made his own shell. More precisely, not a complete shell, but additional widgets.

First, it is a widget showing time, date and weather. Secondly, a special widget caused by a round yellow-green button in the center of the lower strip. The widget is a translucent ball, on the right side of which the miniatures of sites added to favorites are displayed, and on the left side - the volume control scale. In the center of the very circle, there is a button that causes the search on the tablet, and near it - the removal icons of the screenshot, gallery, settings and browser.

Apparently, it is impossible to change this set of icons. As for this widget as a whole, I would not call it very useful, although some users may seem otherwise.

From pre-installed programs it is worth noting Astro. It includes file manager, backup tool, running application manager (Task Killer).

There is also a Soundhound service for streaming listening music, Internet radio Aupeo!, HW Solitaire SE (Solitaire "Soliter"), reader Lumiread, McAfee Virusscan Mobile Anti-Virus and Acer's branded utility for the organization of media files - Clear.fi. There is also an office package Documents to Go, but, alas, only in the trial version (more precisely, the free version that allows you to view, but do not create and edit documents). And here they saved ...

The overall impression of software is: they showed attention to this, tried to make a conveniently user, but nothing really valuable (as, for example, a full-featured office package) was not given.

Autonomous work

Unfortunately, Antutu Tester has not been installed on the tablet (for some reason, on tablets with Android 4, it does not work), so there will be no synthetic tests of autonomous work. But there will be practical tests.

First, video playback. True, again, not quite in our methodology, since the 720p video, which we have recently recently, braked very much on the tablet. Therefore, I had to put a video 480r. With the screen brightness of the screen (the only comfort mode, in our opinion) and the volume of sound sufficient to view the film in the headphones, the tablet worked about 7 hours. Wi-Fi has been turned off. The result is not bad, but not outstanding.

As for the games, Angry Birds Space (screen brightness is again at the maximum, but Wi-Fi is turned on, and the sound is turned off) will be able to play for about four and a half hours - five hours. Also not brilliantly, although it is quite acceptable.

Camera

Unlike its predecessor - Iconia Tab A500 - new product has only one chamber: Frontal. There is no rear camera.

The front camera has a resolution of 2 MP and is designed for a video message.

conclusions

Acer Iconia Tab A200 is a good, but a little outdated tablet. Even the fresh Android 4.0 ICE Cream Sandwich does not save from the feeling that this device should have come out last year. True, in the past year, just a special meaning from A200 and would not be, since if it were not for Android 4, this A200 could simply be called just a little sublined version of the Iconia Tab A500 version. Although ... and from Android 4.0, it's still a slightly subsided A500, it does not exceed it, since the A500 owners have already received the opportunity to upgrade to Android 4.0.

In all the basic parameters in front of us a typical middock: the system on the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chip (no longer a leader, but not a complete outsider), the average duration of the offline work, the average screen (not IPS, but not tn, with good viewing angles, but With not the most saturated colors and not the highest resolution). I liked the design, different from the A500, although it is also an amateur: the tablet is heavy (according to the current standards) and not at all subtle.

Perhaps to release such a tablet less well-known firm - and it would be completely lost against the background of more ambitious competitors. But Acer has a name and reputation, including the young tablet market - the company has shown himself very well last year. Therefore, the heir to the popular A500 will probably not be ignored. But so that people not only looked at him, but bought, the main thing is required: adequate price. The price announced by the manufacturer at 14990 rubles per 16-gigabyte model seems to us overestimated and not placing to good sales. I will explain why. Acer Iconia Tab A500 at the start had the same cost (then she even lowered a little). But at that time, Tegra 2 and a 10-inch screen with a resolution of 1280x800 were top-level. Most likely, this is understood in Acer, so with a high probability you can predict that immediately after the output of A510, the price of A200 will be reduced so that the difference from the A510 amounted to at least 5-6 thousand. And then this model will really be attractive.

We take a look at at least the asus trend with their Asus Transformer - a laptop tablet - it is doubly more convenient in work, however, it came out expensive, but there is an answer to it: they made a cheaper ASUS TF300 (changed the case material, reduced the price - everything, new model). And, it seems to me, it is now almost impossible to actually and adequately understand the market. However, there are manufacturers who do not fruit clones, but do something on their wave. And this wave is successful.

Acer Iconia Tab A200 - continues the line of A500 models, A100, but at the same time opens a new ruler. And no accident. In my opinion, a line of quality, inexpensive, without unnecessary "whistles" devices is always needed. Needing she who someone knows what he wants.

Appearance

The tablet comes in a white-green box, inside which the tablet itself is located, a bit of waste paper, a USB-Micro-USB cable, a charger, as well as three shift plugs for a charger. Nothing extra.

Before us is 10.1 inch tablet. Rear cover - plastic, side faces - plastic. On the front face - glass. Ordinary despondency? And here is not. The back cover is a factory (almost like pores) red soft-touch plastic, it is really pleasant to keep in your hands. The first feeling that it is rubber. The body does not slip at all, the hands are nice to keep it. Even more pleasant than slippery aluminum. It is not immediately stuck in the eye, but the tablet does not have the main chamber. No on the back panel, except for the logo of Acer, as well as holes for speakers and microphone. And that's fine!

The housing is tightly assembled, no creaks, nor backlash. Almost monolith. On the right side - the charger connector (unfortunately, charging only from the outlet and branded charger), 12V / 1,5A. Charging, by the way - minus. Firstly, as already mentioned above - propetro, secondly, the standard length of the charger wire is 90 cm. This is a mockery. When the device is in charge - you have to either sit near the socket, or do not use the tablet at all.

Therefore, there is no brightness authoring. On the one hand, it is minus. We have to go to the settings yourself and twist brightness. But on the other hand, it affects the time of work for the better.

In real life I will say one thing - buy a cover with a stand. Without this, the hands are very quickly tired. Inside the tablet last year's filling. NVIDIA Tegra 2 (Cortex A9 1GHz, 2 kernels), 1 GB of RAM, up to 32 GB of internal memory. The operating system at the time of writing the review is Android 4.0.3. (Ice Cream Sandwitch). I can say to the honor of Acer that in January both of my tablet A100 received an update to ICS. The performance is slightly higher than that of A500 (according to QUADRANT). Perhaps the case is just in the Ourser.

Android here stands almost without add-ons from Acer. The superstructure touched the widgets, lock screen and Acer Ring. With the first two everything is clear. Acer Ring is a feature that is called by pressing a green-yellow circle in the control panel. The "ring" appears, in the center of which the search button, in four sides - application shortcuts, on the left - the volume adjustment, right - visual bookmarks of the standard browser. Castomizes only program labels. Why the rest is not going to mind. But the virhs can be made this thing. In my opinion, I saw this samsung, but there the menu was at the bottom of the screen.

It is important that the battery at the tablet is truly good. With standard mode of operation: at work at lunch to watch YouTube, as you communicate in Skype and Google Talk (mostly text chat), in the evening - read all FID Twitter, Google Reader, sometimes read Wikipedia, open cards a couple of times to help mom Drive to destination, - three days. By connecting a wireless keyboard and mouse in a USB host, I was able to immediately open Google Docs, edit documents, draw in Photoshop Touch, play Max Payne Mobile, surf, etc. That is, to fully replace the laptop in any area, which I use every day.
