Only 29% of Russians choose watching TV as entertainment in their free time, while 56% of pensioners spend their leisure time watching TV. In the age group from 18 to 24 years, there are less than 10% of them.

Russians still spend a lot of free time on household chores, children and dachas, but they watch less TV and take more walks, chat with friends, engage in hobbies and play computer games, according to a study by VTsIOM, dedicated to the answer to the question of how the country's residents spend their leisure time. The research results are at the disposal of RBC.
Sociologists have found that leisure activities have changed significantly over the past decade, with particularly dramatic adjustments occurring over the past seven years, from 2010 to 2017.
For example, only 29% devote their free time to watching TV and listening to the radio. Seven years ago, 63% of citizens spent their free time in this way. Television is still popular among pensioners: there are 56% of those who watch TV as a leisure in the retirement age group, but only 8% of respondents from 18 to 24 years old. In the meantime, there is no need to worry about it. ”
At the same time, the number of outdoor enthusiasts has doubled: from 17% in 2010 to 34% in 2017. The share of those who are engaged in home hobbies (handicrafts, photography, modeling, etc.) more than doubled, from 11% to 26%, respectively.
Russian citizens spend more and more free time on computers and surfing the Internet. The share of those who gave such an answer to sociologists increased from 5% in 2005 to 21% in 2017, and among citizens aged 18-24 this share today is 44%.
“Russians began to spend less free time on activities that do not involve their active participation and more on activities that require high involvement (communication with their families, playing sports, using the Internet, hobbies). The value of the family is growing - citizens are ready to give it more and more of their time, ”said Ivan Lekontsev, an analyst at VTsIOM.
According to VTsIOM, more and more Russians devote their free time to children, household chores and dachas. In 2005, there were 40% of them, and in 2017 - already 60%.
The sociologist also noted the growing popularity of nature walks and sports. According to Lekontsev, this may be partly due to the conditional free of charge of these types of recreation, and partly to the growing interest of Russians in sports and a healthy lifestyle in the past five years.
A telephone survey by VTsIOM was conducted on November 20-21, 2017, involving 1,200 Russians aged 18 and over.

Digital terrestrial television - latest technology encoding and transmission of audio and video signals through digital channels. The signal is transmitted in the DVB-T2 format, which allows you to view a large number of TV channels even in the most remote settlements of Russia.
Today, residents of Moscow and the region have access to 30 channels, divided into three multiplexes with 10 programs each.
