LG Optimus L7 II - Specifications. LG Optimus L7 II Dual - Specifications Lg l7 dual which internet supports

LG took the right course in conquering the smartphone market, after another new product that came to me, I was convinced of this. The last two LG smartphones we reviewed were so good that we had to come up with a badge system to reward the best. Optimus G became the first owner of the coolest badge. But one or two successful models is not yet an indicator, especially since these are two almost identical smartphones, from the same top-end class. But today we have a middle class and it is also good - Optimus L7 II Dual. Yes, naming fails, nothing can be done.

It was good, and the sales seemed to be going well too. Anyway, I have met people with this model many times. However, I do not think that the success of the smartphone was ensured by the L-Style design, which was praised by LG. In the new L7, there is not a hint of the previous forms, this is an ordinary smartphone, I would even say inexpressive. But, oddly enough, it is more enjoyable. At least it is very well assembled, there are no squeaks or backlashes. This is very important, for example, I immediately form a negative opinion about a smartphone if it is flimsy out of the box. This is exactly what the first L7 sinned with, here and there I wanted to take it differently, so as not to feel the "shake-creak of the lid completely."

The LG Optimus L7 II is also plastic, it also has a removable battery cover, but the body feels well knocked down. Thanks to the assembly, from the first minutes of our acquaintance, I liked the second generation L7 much more than its predecessor.

We are testing a model with two SIM card slots - Optimus L7 II Dual. Unlike the first generation L7, now the two-symbol model appeared on the market even earlier than the one-symbol one. We didn't have the last one, but judging by the photos, they look very different. In the L7 II without the Dual prefix, the design still resembles the familiar L-Style. It has a different shape, and there are three keys under the display with one mechanical one. In the two-symbol model, the body is different, and there are four keys under the display, and they are all touch-sensitive. One of them is responsible for changing SIM cards.

Except all standard elements, which I will not list, I noticed one extra button on the left side of the smartphone.

This key brings up the QuickMemo application. After pressing this key, you will receive a screenshot of the screen you are currently on. On it, you can immediately make a note and share the result in one of the social networks, or send it by mail. I considered this feature not significant enough to put it on a separate key, especially since LG practiced this before: Optimus 3D had separate key 3D, Optimus Black generally had a G button. But I thought so until a person from the outside said how convenient it is and that he wants the same in his Samsung.

Display

The diagonal of the IPS display is 4.3 inches, as in the L7, the resolution remains unchanged - 480x800 pixels. The pixel density is 217 ppi. I cannot call the picture too grainy, for a smartphone of the middle segment the picture looks good, but no more. For example, at a slight tilt, the colors on the display are distorted, and at a tilt of 160 degrees, the picture becomes unreadable at all. It seems that the smartphone has an IPS display, but it seems that in the characteristics someone simply made a mistake, somehow it does not look apey. Safety glass, or plastic, collects fingerprints well, the screen gets dirty almost immediately, you will have to wipe it regularly. Small indents from the display (frame) had a very positive effect, at first I thought that the L7 II had incorrect aspect ratios, only then I realized that it was the frame that left such a visual effect.

Cameras

There are two cameras and that's good. The front, however, is VGA, but let it be for video calls. Perhaps someone will use the second SIM card slot just for 3G to communicate via Skype. And the main camera has an 8 MP sensor and records video at 720p. There is a flash and autofocus. The photographs are quite good, the autofocus is adequate and is determined by what to focus on quickly.

Specifications

The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon Qualcomm MSM8225 dual-core processor, clocked at 1 GHz, Cortex A5. This is better than the MSM 7227a. In synthetic tests, the smartphone shows average results, but we did not count on records. Graphics accelerator Adreno 203. With this hardware, the main functions of the smartphone are performed normally (not reactively), with games like Dead Trigger, you will have to endure or not play at all. The smartphone here and there thinks, even reacts to the control keys after a few seconds. In short, not a gaming smartphone. However, you can skip a couple of birds between calls.

768MB of RAM is enough considering that you won't be playing on the L7 II. You can count on full-fledged multitasking if you work mainly with Evernote, mail, twitter and similar applications. But, if you open 5-8 tabs in the browser, applications in the background are closed. The built-in memory of 4 GB is, again, sufficient, considering the possibility of expanding it with a memory card. This is all good, nothing can be called a compromise, but the main advantage of a smartphone and an advantage over the first "seven" is the battery. From 1700 mAh, the capacity has grown to a fantastic 2460 mAh. A year and a half ago, we looked at such a battery in Galaxy Note and did not believe their eyes, but here the display is smaller, and the device is less demanding on the whole. This is a serious application for class leadership, even I will prefer autonomy to the detriment of many other things, and those who need constant communication on two SIM cards will definitely appreciate autonomy. We can safely talk about a whole day of very active work with a smartphone, with twitter, mail, calls and birds.

Software, control of two SIM cards

On top of Android 4.1.2, the proprietary LG Optimus UI 3.0 shell is installed. In principle, I did not see any big differences from that in the predecessor, but on the first L7 the interface was much smoother, in the new product it is not that it slows down, just the fps is noticeably lower. Perhaps this is due to some visual effects For example, when you move from one table to another, the distance between the icons increases, creating the effect of elasticity. But the processor in L7 II is also more productive, in general, the situation with the interface is not clear to me. On the other hand, we had a corrupt L7 of the first generation, we got it out of the window and it worked well. The same sample is not commercial and the firmware, as the company representatives told us, may be raw. I don't think so, but still. Am I overly spoiled by Optimus G?

Optimus L7 II Dual has one radio module. This means that during an active call from one SIM card, the second will be unavailable. Otherwise, both cards are active. The shell, of course, supports two SIM cards. There is a SIM card management item in the menu, where you can assign each icon, color, change the name and select the card from which messages will be sent and outgoing calls made. But you can always choose another card if you press the right function key before making a call / sending SMS. On the one hand, it is more convenient than separate menus in the system, but since the key is touch-sensitive, you can accidentally touch it and call the wrong number.

Output

This smartphone has every chance of becoming a new hit. There are all the ingredients for this: good design, good assembly, performance sufficient for routine tasks, there is an expandable inner memory and, most importantly, excellent autonomy. For this, the smartphone can be forgiven a lot, but, in fact, everything is fine. The Optimus L7 II Dual is clearly not for gamers or geeks. This is a finished product out of the box, with which there is no need to mess around, and the device will not let you play demanding games anyway - that's not what it is for. The buyer must clearly understand what he wants and in this case the one who needs a reliable two-symbol long-liver will be satisfied.

Introduction

Traditionally, most of the devices that will be on sale throughout the year were presented at the world's largest exhibition Mobile World Congress 2013. In addition to the flagship device LG Optimus G Pro, the company has rolled out the updated L-series of smartphones with the prefix II - the second generation. If you are interested in briefly reading about all the devices, I advise you to open the page dedicated to the exhibition. By the way, we have also recorded for you a presentation that took place in Moscow.

Today's review will focus on the LG Optimus L7 II Dual, the successor to the previously popular L7. First of all, the changes affected the design - instead of a strict rectangular shape, the novelty received a more streamlined "figure". Good or bad, it's up to you to judge. In my opinion, it was much nicer. Naturally, the developers changed the chipset: instead of the sickly Qualcomm MSM7227, they installed a nimble MSM8625. Of course, there is only a dual-core processor, but it allows you to run almost any game and application. The RAM was also increased from 512 megabytes to 768 megabytes. We slightly upgraded the camera, updated the OS, but the most interesting thing is that they installed a capacious battery for 2460 mAh. For this class of smartphones, this is a good bonus when considering the device as a purchase.

Design, dimensions, controls

An interesting solution is to use a different design for one and the same, in fact, model: the "single-symbol" version of the L7 II has sharper corners, and in general the design is close to the previous version of the smartphone. The "two-SIM" version of the LG II has sloping edges and is somewhat reminiscent of old LG phones, for example, Optimus Black, Sol, One, and so on. I find it strange the decision to use a semi-gloss back panel on both the P710 and P715, given the quite nice-to-touch embossed back cover in the P705 (first generation Optimus L7). In addition, the LG L7 had a metal insert at the back - the camera frame, new devices do not have this feature, the camera is somehow too primitive.

The LG Optimus L7 II Dual is sold in two colors: white and black. In my opinion, a gadget in white looks more elegant and prettier. At least on the back, fingerprints will be less noticeable. Although they are practically invisible on a black smartphone. In addition, it is worth noting that there are small convex dots on the white panel, and the black one is absolutely smooth (I would add - and slippery), only small notches are applied along the edges. Over time, scuffs or scratches may appear on it, but since the plastic is also colored from the inside, the defects will not be conspicuous.

The screen is relatively easily soiled, so fingerprints cover the surface of the display abundantly, which, alas, is protected only by durable plastic, and not by "gorilla" glass. However, in three weeks active use L7 II Dual has no scratches left on the screen.

For the build quality of the phone, designers should give 5 out of 5. The device is really well knocked down, not the slightest backlash, creak and crunch in the case of strong compression. It fits perfectly in the hand due to its rather compact dimensions (122x66x9.7 mm), very light weight (115 grams) and an almost oval shape of the case.

On the front panel there are: a front camera, a proximity sensor and a speech speaker, covered with a thin metal mesh. Its volume is very high, the stock is large, the interlocutor is heard clearly and legibly, the timbre is pleasant (mainly low and high frequencies prevail). The quality of the speaker can be compared to the quality of the speakers in the first generation Samsung Galaxy S Duos and LG Optimus L7.

There are no complaints about the sensors - they work correctly.

Unlike the “one-symbol” version of LG L7 II, the “two-symbol” version lacks a mechanical “Home” key. Only touch buttons are located under the display: "Back", "Home", "Menu" and a specially highlighted one - for switching between SIM cards, as well as launching SIM management settings. These buttons are printed on the body with silver paint. The strangest thing is that they do not have backlighting: during the day they can be seen without problems, but in the dark you have to "poke" your fingers on the bottom of the smartphone in the hope of hitting exactly the button you wanted to click on.

Due to the fact that the button for switching SIM-cards is touch-sensitive, there were moments of unexpected change of the main "SIM". Therefore, before making a call or sending a message, just in case, make sure that you have chosen the correct SIM card.

At the bottom there is a microUSB and a microphone, on the top there is a second microphone for noise reduction and a standard 3.5 mm audio output for headphones or a headset.

In this version of the phone, LG specialists have provided a separate mechanical button on the top left side to launch any application, be it Camera, Music, Dictaphone or some kind of game.

Below is the volume rocker key. On the left side there is a thin and small on / off button for the device.

On the back side, the speaker is located at the bottom, on top there is a flash and a peephole, slightly recessed into the body.

To remove the back panel, you need to pry it off by the notch of the microUSB connector. The memory card is inserted on the top left, on the right - one above the other - slots for installing SIM cards (ordinary miniSIM).

Display

To date, the LG Optimus L7 II Dual smartphone has the usual screen diagonal for most of these devices - 4.3 inches. The physical size of the display is 52x94 mm. The resolution, unfortunately, was not increased relative to the previous generation of the device, in general, it was left the same - 480x800 pixels. Most likely, they did not do this in order not to create a competitor to the LG Optimus L9.

The matrix is made using IPS technology. Its quality is comparable to that of the L7 matrix, however, purely subjective, the picture looks better on the screen of the first generation LG smartphone. Under large slopes of the Optimus L7 II Dual screen, the image loses its brightness, the color rendition slightly deteriorates.

In the sun, the picture fades a lot, but in general the information is readable (the photo below reproduced the image somewhat incorrectly). The matrix behaves well in the shade.

In general, the screen is not bad, but there are a lot of devices on the market with a lower price, but a better display, both in sharpness and in color rendition.

The touch layer is capacitive, supports up to 10 simultaneous touches. The sensitivity of the "wheelbarrow" is good.

It is not known who has spied on the Smart Screen technology from whom (LG from Samsung or vice versa), but Optimus L7 II has it. That is, when you turn on such a mode, while you are looking at the screen, it works as soon as you turn away - after a certain period of time it goes out. How it works, I could not understand: the screen turned off when the timeout selected in the settings came, regardless of whether I was looking at the display or not.

Battery

The LG L7 II Dual uses a removable 2460 mAh, 3.8 V, 9.3 W lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery. Despite the rather impressive battery capacity for this class of device, the life time of the device was insignificantly longer than that of any other Android smartphone.

The promised battery life is up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 800 hours of standby time. Partially in practice, these data have been confirmed:

  • Talk time only - up to 9 hours
  • Only in music playback mode - up to 35 hours
  • Only when playing video (maximum display brightness, maximum volume in headphones) - a little over four hours
  • Games only - just over four hours
  • Web surfing only (via Wi-Fi, screen brightness 40%) - up to 10 hours
  • Web surfing only (3G, brightness changed from 40 to 100%) - 7 - 8 hours

If you use the phone for about 15-17 hours, the battery will be completely discharged provided: 15-25 minutes of talks a day, three hours of using Wi-Fi Internet (Twitter, mail, downloading applications and installing them), about five hours of mobile Internet with simultaneous listening to music (a couple of hours).

Charges from USB in 5 hours, from charger - one hour less. By the way, the phone “senses” when power is connected to it from USB, and when from a network adapter: an inscription appears on the screen stating that the device will charge slowly due to low current.

The section "Energy saving" contains the following items:

  • Auto sync (enable or disable).
  • Wi-Fi (deactivate if not connected)
  • Bluetooth
  • Brightness (10 - 50%)
  • Time until the screen turns off (15 or 30 seconds, 1 minute)

Communication capabilities

Smartphone works in GSM networks 850/900/1800/1900, HSDPA 900/1900/2100. Speed HSDPA - 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA - 5.76 Mbps, EDGE - 236 Kbps, GPRS 32-48 Kbps.

Both slots can be used to work in the 3G network, but alternately, i.e. if, for example, SIM1 is in 3G, then the other must be switched to 2G. And vice versa.

There is Bluetooth version 3.0 with A2DP. Wi-Fi (802.11 a / b / g / n) supports DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), a standard that allows compatible devices to transmit and receive over home network various media content (images, music, video), as well as display it in real time.

The phone can be used as a hotspot (Wi-Fi hotspot). There is USB version 2.0 for data transfer and synchronization. Wi-Fi Direct is also used to "transport" files. The Wi-Fi sensitivity was not satisfactory: even in difficult conditions it shows 1-2 divisions.

Memory and memory card

The last generation of the L7 smartphone had 512MB of RAM. In the new version of the phone, it has become a little more - 768 MB. Of this volume, about 260 MB is usually free - not much, but this amount is quite enough for most tasks and for smoother operation of the interface.

The smartphone has 4 GB of flash memory, but only 1.78 GB is allocated for installing applications and games. The presence of a memory card slot helps out in part. The maximum volume of "microsdisk" is 32 GB.

Camera

The LG Optimus L7 II Dual has two camera modules: the main one is 8 MP BSI (in the LG L7 it was 5 MP) and the front one is 0.3 MP. There is a small one-section flash. The maximum size of photos is 3264x2448 pixels, for videos - only 720x480 pixels. For such a miserable resolution in a phone worth 10,000 rubles, let's say "thanks" to the "Kvalkom" chipset! Now even simple smartphones for 5,500 - 6,000 on MTK6577 they give out HD.

The lens has a standard aperture of f2.8 and an angle of view of 33 mm. Maximum value ISO - 700, minimum - 100; maximum shutter speed 1/25 s, minimum - 1/6000 s.

Photo quality is mediocre, although white balance and autofocus performance are to be commended. The main gripe is the wrong choice of exposure: often frames come out with overexposures or dark areas, and the touch focus somewhat aggressively adjusts the exposure.

There is nothing to say about the quality of the video: in 2013, for 10k to offer a smartphone with video recording in a resolution of 740x480 pixels is simply ridiculous (if it were not so sad).

Photo mode interface: on the right - activating the shutter, switching between photo and video shooting, going to the gallery; on the left - switch to the front camera and back, voice control, modes and settings; top - resolution, shooting mode, memory, battery power and the number of remaining frames.

To focus on the focus, you need to touch the screen ("touch focus") or immediately press the touch button of the shutter - automatic focusing will take place.

Photo mode interface: on the right - activating the shutter, switching between photo and video shooting, going to the gallery; on the left - switching to the front camera and back, choosing the resolution, flash, zoom and settings; top - resolution, sound and battery power.

Characteristics of the video file recorded on the main camera:

  • Format: MP4
  • Video: AVC, 2000 Mbps
  • Resolution: 720x480, 30 fps
  • Audio: AAC, 96 Kbps
  • Channels: 1 channel, 44 kHz

Performance

This device has a Qualcomm S4 Play MSM8625 chipset. Dual-core processor (ARM Cortex-A5), frequency 1 GHz, 45 nm technological process, instruction set - ARMv7, graphics accelerator Adreno 203. This chip practically does not differ from MSM8225. Below is a characteristic:

If we compare the chipsets Qualcomm MSM8225 / MSM8625 and MediaTek MT6577, then I did not notice the difference. Both of them hardly "digest" HD-video, not all toys are available, the interface speed is relatively smooth. Actually, the performance tests say the same thing.

short info:

Performance tests:

Navigation

The smartphone has a GPS navigator. Cold start of determination of coordinates of LG P715 - about 7-8 minutes, "hot" - about 15 seconds. Unfortunately, the satellites in the room are reluctant to be identified, so the navigator could hardly find only two or three of them. However, in open space, in clear weather, L7 II identified more than 8 satellites.

Software platform

At the moment, the smartphone is functioning on Google Android version 4.1.2. Just the other day, two firmwares "arrived" in a row. Build number JZO54K, software version P71510e-CIS-XX.

Shell and menu

The design is the proprietary shell Optimus UI version 3.0. More details can be found in the review of Optimus L7 and other smartphones from LG. Below are screenshots.

Challenges

The dialer is large and handy. When you enter the first digits, a list of subscribers with matching numbers opens. Working with sim cards is simple: if you want to call or send SMS using one or another SIM, then just click on the special touch button at the bottom of the device. Everything else is standard for LG smartphones.

Posts

A proprietary LG keyboard is used for typing. It is very convenient to type. The language is switched by pressing the RU / ENG button. The view can be landscape or portrait. For those who have vision problems, I advise you to switch the font size in the "Display" to "Maximum".

Applications

I see no reason to re-enumerate all the programs. If you wish, read the previous reviews of LG smartphones. There is standard software from Google and LG. Below are screenshots.

Multimedia

Music player ... In the player, you can organize your songs by artist, album, song and folder. When playing music, the screen displays: a huge album cover, artist name and album name, below - the player control buttons. In the settings: search, add to favorites, SmartShare, add to playlist, delete, share (note, Bluetooth, Gmail, Skype, SMS / MMS), set as ringtone, information and settings.

Settings:

  • Show notifications (on, off)
  • Sleep timer (off, after 10, 20, 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours)
  • Audio effects (enable or disable Dolby Mobile)

I do not recommend using a standard music player: it does not produce very high-quality sound. I installed one of the most popular ones - PowerAMP. With him and tested the musical capabilities of the LG Optimus L7.

Headphone volume is high. Low and high frequencies are well worked out, the middle ones, as it seemed to me, are slightly overwhelmed. Overall excellent quality.

The speaker volume is slightly above average.

Default Supported Music Formats: MP3, AAC, AAC +, AMR, MP3, MIDI, WAV, WMA

FM radio... Works in the FM range: 87.5 - 108 MHz. The screen displays the frequency scale, settings, 6 cells for storing the most interesting stations, switching the sound to the speaker and off. The headphone volume is slightly above average, the receiver sensitivity is good.

Conclusion

The call quality is good, on a par with any other LG smartphone. The vibrating alert is quite noticeable in the pockets of outerwear.

The smartphone left conflicting feelings. And it's not that it works badly or somehow doesn't work, it's just that there is not much difference relative to the previous generation. For example, the camera has the same image quality, records videos in low resolution, the screen remains the same (type of matrix, its resolution and diagonal), the shell is old.

What the new chipset and the new gave software? Perhaps a slightly smoother operation of the interface and support for most of the simple games. The working time has increased, but not so much as "ah".

Neighbors in the line

This plate allows you to quickly assess the place of the new model in the LG 2012-2013 lineup. In the coming months, the picture will be complemented by the new LG Optimus L5 II (it should appear within the next couple of weeks after the release of this review at a price of about 2300 hryvnia for a model with two SIM-cards). And then another L3 II and, hopefully, L9 II we will see too. In general, for me personally, the line of LG smartphones in the past and this year is understandable and easy to remember, in contrast to the complex and confusing schemes of Samsung and HTC, in which the devil will break his leg. It's very simple - the higher the number, the older the model. And besides the L-series and the flagship model Optimus G, there is nothing more (yes, I, of course, am aware of the existence of the Optimus G Pro and also look forward to its appearance). Of course, the 2012 lineup will gradually leave, but until the end of this year, I believe, it will still hold out in one form or another. And maybe it will end its existence by the fall, but it is unlikely to leave the sale earlier.

Appearance of LG Optimus L7 II Dual

The appearance of the LG Optimus L7 II has undergone minor changes compared to its predecessor. The hardware key has disappeared (we are now not like Samsung, but not everyone likes the touch keys, by the way, me too). The fourth key, the far right, now switches active SIM-cards. The solution, at first glance, is convenient, but I have repeatedly encountered its accidental clicks. Calls, however, were not missed because of this - I have to redirect calls to a SIM-card "for the Internet", but calling from it is not very profitable for money. and it happened a couple of times.

The back cover in my copy was made of embossed plastic, as far as I remember, it will be slightly different in commercial samples. I like the overall design of the device - everything is somehow well and soundly done.

The power button was taken out to the right side surface.

But on the left surface there was LG's own "know-how" - a user-configurable key, on which by default the proprietary QuickMemo function is hung, which allows you to automatically take a screenshot and paint something useful on it with your finger. The first thing I did was to replace it with a camera launch and was happy as an elephant. In general, in all senses, a competent and convenient solution - on the one hand, an unobtrusive reminder to users about such an opportunity (any kettle will press it and get acquainted with the function), on the other, no violence against the owner of the phone: if you do not like it, replace it with any application even installed by the user.

At the top, only the headphone jack remains. At the same time, the thickness of modern devices is so thin that the hole partially "runs over" the back cover.

At the bottom there is a microphone and a microUSB connector. Also note the speaker for hands-free calling and music on the back.

There are now four touch keys, as I said. The placement of the button for returning to the previous menu level (it is on the far left) is convenient and intuitive. Placing it somewhere else is annoying.

Under the cover, you can immediately see a large inscription on the battery, which unambiguously speaks of the key characteristic - the high capacity of the battery.

SIM cards are placed one above the other. The bottom card becomes "the first", the top one - the "second". But the memory card can be changed without removing the battery, that is, this operation does not require turning off the device.

Video review LG Optimus L7 II Dual

Traditional video supplementing the review:

Performance LG Optimus L7 II Dual

Compared to its predecessor, performance in synthetic tests has noticeably increased. In Vellamo it was 1019 points against 850 in LG Optimus L7. In AnTuTu, the growth is even more noticeable - 6137 points against 2921.

In NenaMark and Epic Citadel everything looks decent too - at 800x480 these benchmarks demonstrate 33.1 and 25.2 frames per second, respectively. For human vision, as you know, everything over 25 is already invisible.

The pre-installed set of apps matches the entire LG 2013 lineup. Here you and file manager, and a task manager with a program manager, and even a special utility for backing up data. And they did not forget about their own application store, LG AppClub, although it is inconvenient to use it.

The settings menu looks nice - I especially like the blue on-off buttons. Apple's stylistics and aesthetics here set the tone for the entire market. Pay attention to a separate item in the menu " Shortcut key". This is the setting of the extra key on the left panel.

The menu for managing SIM-cards in this device is the first item of settings. It is simple and straightforward.

You can select the SIM card icon, choose which one will be responsible for data transfer.

And this is how the application launch is assigned for the custom key on the side. As you can see, you can assign any application, not only the system one. And that's great.

Camera LG Optimus L7 II Dual

The camera of the device is at a good average level. She does not have enough stars from the sky, but she clearly does not graze the back ones. On a nice sunny day, really good results are guaranteed. And the results are quite decent indoors.

Pictures in original resolution, as always, can be found in a separate gallery on Torba.

Competitive environment

The main competitor of the novelty, without a doubt, is the sales leader in this segment - Samsung Galaxy S Duos (we have a review of it). Although I prefer HTC Desire SV (review), although it is clearly inferior in terms of the camera, and in terms of performance it shows very similar results. Also, if you are tolerant of non-branded devices, you should pay attention to the Fly IQ440 Energie () and especially the Fly IQ450 Horizon (review). Not to mention the manufacturer's upcoming quad-core innovations.

General work impressions

The most important expectations from working with this smartphone are its time. autonomous work in my case did not make the proper impression on me. No, the laws of physics cannot be fooled, and in a "quiet" mode of operation, the LG Optimus L7 II is able to work for 2 or even 3 days. But if you use it "to the fullest" and work with 3G-Internet all day, then the charge is also barely enough until the evening, and if necessary, you can "drop" the entire battery in the same 6 hours. If you don't believe me, try to be me for one day and launch Skype, Instagram, Twitter and two mailboxes. In fairness, it should be said that the first L7 in such an extremely intensive mode during the Computex 2012 exhibition in Taiwan worked for 4 hours at all (there is generally HSPA + everywhere, including the subway). But with the L7 II, I had no missed calls at all in a couple of weeks of use. Although the performance was not enough for me - at peak load, the smartphone slowed down mercilessly (in fairness, my Galaxy Note is also able to slow down after a year of work, heaps installed programs and a dozen running applications).

If we talk about the little things that make up the impressions of this or that device, then I like the current LG interface, from the unlock screen to the cute on-off buttons. In fact, the menu is not much different from the flagship LG Optimus G, which costs twice as much. Unless the QSlide function was removed from the menu, which allows you to launch a limited list of programs in the second window and change its transparency. Convenient in work, as I said, was a customizable hardware key. Conversely, it is inconvenient to switch between SIM-cards. Moreover, I have strictly one SIM-card for calls, the second for the Internet. A reasonable question - does everyone need Mobile Internet in your smartphone? After all, it often happens that both SIM-cards are used for calls, it breaks down on my counter question - why, in this case, buy a smartphone, especially not the cheapest one? The market is full of offers (with a price tag 2 times less) devices with a touch screen and two SIM-cards, including those on Android.

In the dry residue

The dual SIM Android smartphone segment is experiencing explosive growth. Their opportunities are increasing every quarter. In my review of HTC Desire SV, I once mentioned that in just six months HTC smartphone Desire V has gone from being a leader to being an outdated model. The situation with the LG Optimus L7 II looks similar, although it has a record-breaking battery capacity for this class of devices and nice little things like QuickMemo and a user-configurable key. The camera also deserves a good word, although 8 megapixels do not mean anything in today's world. In general, the situation with smartphones reminds me of a race tariff plans operators in 2004-2006, when an even more advantageous response from competitors appeared in a month or two to any advantageous tariff offer. Best price-performance ratio in its class is changing in today's fast-paced smartphone world in 2-3 months. And although LG Optimus L7 II is already capable of competing with HTC Desire SV or Fly devices, I will not dissuade anyone from buying it. For this will be a good and balanced decision. In any case, in the next couple of months - something more "tasty" on the horizon is not yet to be seen.

4 reasons to buy LG Optimus L7 II Dual:

  • A good screen with an IPS matrix and a large diagonal;
  • high battery capacity;
  • best performance in its class (this factor may change in a month or two);
  • customizable custom button

1 reason not to buy the LG Optimus L7 II Dual:

  • religious hatred of LG - you like other brands, or you are ready to buy cheaper brands, for example, Fly;

The second generation of LG L-series smartphones has ripened just in time: the technical characteristics of the devices of the first wave, very successful by the way, are completely outdated - is there not a reason to update the line? And at the same time to redesign the devices. All four smartphones of the series have been updated - from the ultra-budget L3 to the quite serious L9. In terms of technical characteristics, the improvements are not as significant as they could be - the hardware in the devices is average by the standards of each price category, but it is worth remembering that even the older model - Optimus L9 II - is not too expensive and definitely not a flagship. The leading smartphone of the South Korean giant at the time of the article's release is the Optimus G Pro, which we hope to tell you about soon. In the meantime, let's pay attention to the more massive model LG Optimus L7 II Dual - an inexpensive smartphone that can work with two SIM cards.

⇡ Package contents

LG Optimus L7 II Dual - factory box

The novelty comes in a small bright cardboard box. The standard delivery set for the device is far from the richest: inside we found only Charger 0.85 A, microUSB ↔ USB cable and quick start guide.

⇡ Appearance and ergonomics

A distinctive feature of the first version of the Optimus L7 smartphone - and indeed of the entire L-series as a whole - can reasonably be considered a successful design. The small thickness of smartphones belonging to this line, and a small frame around the perimeter of the screen made the gadgets really compact and miniature against the background of the rapidly gaining popularity of "shovels". Since not all consumers prefer the latter, L-series smartphones have deservedly occupied their niche in the market, and overcame the ten million mark in sales.

There was, however, one solution in the design of the first L7, which did not seem very rational to us - almost right corners of the case, which could unpleasantly dig into the palm. The company's designers took into account this defect and corrected it in the updated version of the gadget. The rounded corners make the Optimus L7 II Dual look even smaller, although its dimensions are almost the same. Moreover, the smartphone added a millimeter in thickness, due to which it was possible to place a battery in it as much as 2460 mAh (9.35 W * h), but at the same time remained very thin, and due to the correct diet dropped almost seven grams.

LG Optimus L7 II Dual - front panel

Despite the small area under the screen, there are four hardware keys on the front panel: "Back", "Home", "Menu" and "Change SIM-card", which noticeably lacks backlighting. They are not duplicated on the screen, as is customary in Jelly Bean, due to which there is more "useful" space on it. In the upper part of the panel there is a peephole for the front camera and a slot for the earpiece, covered with a metal mesh.

LG Optimus L7 II Dual - full face

The entire front panel of the smartphone is protected from damage using plastic, of course, less reliable than tempered glass. However, it is quite resistant to scratches - the device can be carried in one pocket with the keys and not really worry about its condition.

LG Optimus L7 II Dual - back panel and sides

The layout of the controls and interfaces of the L7 II Dual is standard for an Android smartphone. The on / off button of the device is placed on the right side, under the thumb. The volume control keys are located on the left side. A little higher nestled a programmable key designed by default for creating quick notes or capturing a frame if the camera menu is open. At the top there is a 3.5 mm audio jack, at the bottom there is a microUSB interface and a sensitive area of the microphone. On the back panel you can see the lens of the main eight-megapixel camera and the flash.

LG Optimus L7 II Dual without back cover

The back cover of the smartphone is removable. There is a high-capacity battery under it. There is also a slot for a microSD memory card, which you can get without turning off the device, as well as two SIM card slots located one above the other.

The main material of the LG Optimus L7 II Dual case is plastic, which creaks musically under physical impact. However, the new product is visually perceived much more reliably than the first Optimus L9, which, as it seemed to us, could crumble in our hands. The smartphone is available in two colors: white and black.
