First of all, a person focuses on the number of processor cores, in the hope that a larger number of cores will not just work, but fly.
Although I may disappoint some of the people, not all programs support multi-core mode, and the effect will be negligible, if at all. But now we are not talking about that. How to find out how many cores are in a computer through the Task Manager

The names are similar, but they are not the same. To enter the device manager, right-click twice on the "Computer" tab. Let's select the item "Properties".

A new window opens for us, we will consider its points and select the line "Processors". By clicking on this line, it becomes clear to us how many cores we have. For example, I have 2 of them.
In Intel processors, this technique does not always work, because kernels are often split into two or more threads, which the OS can count as a separate kernel. In this case, we can use a third-party program. I prefer Speccy software.

Launch Speccy, select a processor and see numerous information in the window that opens.
But we are interested in the number of cores. As you can see from the screenshot, in my case there are two of them, including the streams are shown separately, i.e. you will not get confused, unlike the previous method. Also, there is one more method, the most common one. Just damn the processor documentation. For Intel, pay attention to the line Core 2 Duo, Dual. It means that you have 2 cores. If you see Quad, you have 4 cores.
