Samsung galaxy book tablets on windows 10. New Samsung tablets on Android and Windows are designed to beat the competition

Samsung introduced a Windows 8 tablet for advanced users. The model is called 700T1C-A02 and is part of the Pro series. We will consider it.

Samsung ATIV Pro 700T - high performance tablet

A centimeter-plus body and a weight of almost a kilogram are a small price to pay for the fastest processor. The active cooling system and fast heating are frustrating, but this is balanced by a powerful video card with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 accelerator. Thanks to a combination of technical characteristics, the Samsung ATIV Pro 700T has acquired excellent performance.

In addition to being equipped with the latest 64-bit Windows 8, Wi-Fi block and Bluetooth 4.0, the Samsung Pro version has built-in 3G, GPS and NFC.

Design

Samsung's design is recognizable, it can be called attractive. The tablet does not stand out, but is not lost in the gray mass. The massive plastic body is rounded at the edges and corners, giving it a softer feel. This solution is typical for Samsung devices on Windows 8. The back cover is curved at the edges, which makes the tablet more comfortable.

Samsung ATIV Pro 700T is positioned by the manufacturer as an alternative to a laptop. More portable than an ultrabook and more powerful than a netbook, Samsung's keyboard-dock tablet meets the latest trends in the high-tech market.

Connectors and usability

In terms of ergonomics of the tablet, everything is in order with the location of the connectors. But after connecting the device to the dock, the ports are on top. This is inconvenient and looks rather strange. It's a bit ill-conceived if Samsung is offering its ATIV 700 as a laptop replacement.

The Pro version of Samsung heats up noticeably and makes a lot of noise under heavy loads. The active cooling system makes itself felt. But given what hardware the tablet is equipped with, the noise can be forgiven.

Dock station

The keyboard of the dock is familiar, Samsung has not abandoned the function keys, like other manufacturers. Therefore, a tablet with a dock will pass for a small laptop.

It is probably impossible to foresee everything, and for the sake of a full-fledged keyboard, the touchpad had to be sacrificed. The touchpad is small, which causes some inconvenience when using it. Instead of buttons, you need to press the bottom of the panel. However, the size did not affect the technical characteristics. Responds to touch quickly and accurately.

Display and sound

The Samsung ATIV Pro 700T tablet does not stand out among other tribesmen in terms of sound characteristics. There are no additional columns on the dock. When using the Samsung ATIV Pro tablet as a laptop, it is better to connect headphones.

The screen is covered with an anti-reflective coating. The brightness and image quality are decent, the viewing angles are wide, all thanks to the PLS-matrix. Windows 8's tiled interface fits any screen resolution, and the Samsung ATIV Pro 700T tablet boasts impressive performance in this area. It is Windows 8's versatility and touch-friendlyness that explains its introduction to tablets.

Performance

Samsung was one of the first to release a tablet on Windows 8. Having serious competitors in the face of Acer, the manufacturer tried to create a tablet that meets the needs of most users.

The speed and performance of the Intel Core i5 processor has already been mentioned. In graphics tests, the tablet performed well. Office applications for Windows 8 run without problems, you can use the tablet for work. Gaming tests have shown that Samsung is suitable for medium-demand games. For a tablet, a good indicator.

operating system

It is worth noting that the use of Windows 8 opens up new possibilities for tablet PCs. Most applications, including games, are already adapted for this operating system. Windows 8 proved to be a productive and fast OS. The tiled interface makes it comfortable to work in tablet mode, but becomes uncomfortable in laptop mode. There's a trade-off here: Windows 8 performance vs. laptop mode inadequacy.

autonomy

Windows tablets have received negative reviews due to short battery life. This is also true for the device in question. Active use of the Samsung ATIV Pro 700T drains the battery in just 4 hours. In idle mode, this time increases to 9 hours, but this is in case the user forgot to turn off the device.

Outcome

Samsung, introducing its Windows tablets to the market, put them in the position of a compact version of the ultrabook. For such a claim, the Samsung ATIV Pro 700T performs too little. It is a pity that when equipped with a powerful processor and a good video card, the manufacturer could not provide the tablet with a sufficient battery. For use at home, in the office and other places where there is access to the network, Samsung ATIV Pro 700T is quite suitable.

The quality of the device is at the highest level, there are no complaints. The presence of the docking station significantly tilts the scales in favor of the Samsung ATIV Pro 700T. A nice bonus is the full-fledged execution of the keyboard on the dock, while similar tablets from other manufacturers offer a flawed and, most often, completely unusable version. The touchpad, heat and noise slightly blur the impression.

In addition, equipping the tablet with USB ports exclusively in version 3.0 is unclear. The 3G modem pleases, but with such autonomy it becomes not clear where it can be used and for what.

The cost of the Pro version goes off scale for 50 thousand rubles. For this money, it would be possible to think over the details and avoid minor misunderstandings.

During the Windows 8 Developers Conference, Microsoft unveiled a special redesigned Samsung Series 7 based on the new OS, which it handed out to 5,000 attendees at the event. At the same time, together with the device, an annual 3G subscription of the cellular operator AT&T is provided, which includes up to 2 GB of free traffic per month.

Microsoft called "PC" every device that was shown at BUILD running Windows 8, whether it was a laptop, desktop or tablet. Thus, here are the characteristics of the Samsung PC, which was distributed to the conference participants:

  • 11.6-inch 1366×768 screen using Samsung Super PLS technology;
  • 2-core processor Intel Core i5-2467M 1.6 GHz;
  • 64 GB built-in flash drive;
  • 4 GB of RAM;
  • UEFI technology instead of traditional BIOS;
  • a lot of built-in sensors like a gyroscope, a magnetometer and an accelerometer,
  • USB, HDMI, micro SD card slot;
  • support for 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth;
  • pen included;
  • front and back cameras;
  • A pre-installed early build of Windows 8 64-bit with development tools and Metro apps, so you can both build and test apps on the device.
  • weight 909 grams;
  • thickness - 12.9 mm.

Also worth mentioning is a compact charging adapter and a docking station equipped with additional USB, HDMI and Ethernet ports. When connected to the latter, the tablet is able to provide the user with the full functionality of a laptop with a physical keyboard. Also, thanks to the docking station, you can connect two external monitors to the tablet.

Thus, the device could prove to be quite popular if and when Samsung brings it to market. In the video below, you can see the tablet live, and at the same time with the new features of Windows 8:

Despite the lack of new flagship smartphones from Samsung at this year's Mobile World Congress, the company managed to turn heads with its new Android and Windows 10 tablets. Book on Windows 10.

Despite different operating systems, both tablets have common features borrowed from Samsung Galaxy smartphones. They also come with improved S Pen styluses and support for detachable keyboards.

Galaxy Tab S3

One look at the Galaxy Tab S3 makes it clear that Samsung has prepared it to compete with the iPad Pro.

The first thing that catches your eye is the new design with metal and glass. It looks like an enlarged Galaxy S7, which is both good (only 6 millimeters thick) and bad (glass on the back collects all fingerprints).

The Tab S3's 9.7-inch Super AMOLED display (at 2048 x 1536) is super bright and crisp, and text and photos look fantastic. The display also supports HDR, making it the first tablet to support high dynamic range video.

Under the hood of the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal memory (expandable up to 256 GB via microSD) and a 6000 mAh battery with support for fast charging via USB-C port. Along with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the tablet has built-in LTE.

On the back, you'll find a 13MP autofocus camera, while on the front, you'll find a 5MP selfie camera. There is also a fingerprint scanner built into the home button below the display.

The premium status of the tablet is confirmed by the latest version of TouchWiz based on Android Nougat, the new S Pen stylus and a detachable keyboard.

Galaxy Book

The 10.6-inch Galaxy Book has a 7th generation Intel Core m3 dual-core processor running at 2.6GHz, 4GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, and a single 5MP front-facing camera.

The 12-inch Galaxy Book also features a 7th Gen Intel Core i5 (3.1GHz) processor and comes in two options: 4GB of RAM paired with 128GB of internal storage (SSD) or 8GB of RAM with 256GB of internal storage( SSD). The tablet received two cameras - a 13 megapixel sensor with autofocus on the rear panel and 5 megapixels on the front panel.

Both tablets come with microSD card slots up to 256GB, as well as Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth, LTE, and fast charging capabilities.

The Galaxy Book's keyboard is large, roomy and has an adaptive trackpad. A nice bonus is support for Samsung's S Pen.

One of the best features of these tablets is the Samsung Flow feature. If you have a Galaxy smartphone, you can use your fingerprint scanner to unlock your Galaxy Book and even answer messages and receive phone calls on your tablet. It's easy to guess that Samsung's Windows tablet is designed to compete with the Surface Pro 4.

So far, Samsung has not announced the release date of the Galaxy Book and Galaxy Tab S3, as well as their prices.
