Highscreen Power Five Evo mobile phone. Highscreen Power Five Evo - Specifications Highscreen power five evo 16 gb brown

10.11.2016

It seems that someone on Highscreen was watching an animated series called Generator Rex, which had "super-evolved" characters called EVO. Otherwise, I cannot explain the exact name of the new model.

Those cartoon Evoes were much cooler than their predecessors - ordinary people, and some of them, not all, but some - were superheroes.

Likewise, in some of its parameters, the Highscreen Power Five EVO looks like a copy evolved from a simple Five. Or at least a new branch of evolution in the line of these smartphones, which has acquired a couple of advantages over the "venerable ancestor". This model probably cannot be called purely the son of the previous Five. There are differences, although will he become a superhero? It's up to you to judge, but the development of my favorite line with new models, I can only welcome - I frankly like it when I can choose a thing for myself to suit any mood and situation. Well, the fact that they may all be of the same brand is, in my opinion, clearly not a problem of the brand itself, but rather a problem of its competitors.

The search criteria for a new smartphone were rather vague, I, as the very King, wanted "either music and flowers, or to kill someone." Autumn, rain, melancholy ... It happens ...

In general, the following parameters were chosen for the selection: the price is in the range of ten to fifteen thousand - what is now over five, it is, of course, cheaper, I love "a canary for a penny, so that I can sing and not eat", but everything is so inexpensive, it was even before the "crisis", in general, outright rubbish, and which hardly got better over time, this is not wine, is it? I also needed capacious battery, which also affects the price. Desirable needed a good appearance, Android on a smartphone, and no Windows. In principle, everything.

Quite a few smartphones fall under such parameters, they all have their advantages and disadvantages compared to EVO, and the deliberate choice threatened to drag on. So, we can say that the appearance of my Power Five EVO is a "spontaneous purchase", and although "voting with your heart" instead of brains is not the most the best choice... But! I did just that. Without much thought, he became the owner of the Highscreen Power Five EVO. I just loved the color!

Set

The smartphone kit, in principle, turned out to be the most common, because this is not a collector's edition of any video game. But nevertheless one, as you can say, "bun" in it is a protective glass for the screen.

I would have preferred a cover, but, as they say, "dine with what God sent," and God and the developers sent glass.

  • safety glass;
  • Charger;
  • USB cable for synchronization and charging;
  • user guide;
  • box.

All this stuff is packaged in a blue-and-white box of "minimalism" design, which has long become a "corporate identity" - on the box there is a schematic image of a smartphone, briefly its characteristics, in fact, everything on the box is exactly the same as in my previous Power Rage. And almost any other smartphone from this company.

So, having quickly admired the box, you can start examining the subject himself. Unlike some gadgets, here the contents of the box are more interesting than its design.

Features versus Power Rage and Power Five:

  • screen: 5 ", 1280x720 pixels, IPS instead of AMOLED for Power Five;
  • processor: eight-core MediaTek MT6753 1.3 GHz instead of quad-core MT6580 in Power Rage and MT6735 in Power Five;
  • graphics accelerator: Mali-T720 MP3 for EVO and T720 MP2 for a simple Five, versus Mali-400 MP2 for Power Rage;
  • operating system: Android 5.1 Lollipop;
  • RAM: 2048 MB versus 1536 MB for the Power Five;
  • built-in memory: 16 GB;
  • support for memory cards: microSD;
  • communication: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, UMTS 900/2100 MHz, LTE 3/7/8/20;
  • SIM: two micro-SIM;
  • wireless interfaces: Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0;
  • navigation: GPS, GLONASS;
  • cameras: main - 13 Mp (autofocus, flash), front - 5 Mp;
  • sensors: proximity sensor, light sensor, accelerometer, microgyroscope;
  • battery: Li-pol 5000 mAh, not removable;
  • dimensions: 142 x 70 x 9.6 mm;
  • weight: only 168 grams, versus 190 for my Power Rage and 176 for the Power Five.

    Frame

    Compared to my previous smartphones, the body is the first detail that is different from what I have become accustomed to. It's made of plastic. It is difficult to tell right away whether such a replacement went to the benefit of the smartphone. It all depends on your preference. But the body became lighter, not as slippery as metal, and got a very pleasant color. Which ultimately became the defining fact for the purchase.

    Yes, I confess, I got drunk. I'm used to good cases, mostly metal. There is something sacred in it, to feel the heavy coldness of steel in your hand. The glass design of the cases is also not bad, but ... I'm a fan of metal!

    The lid is made of a very lightweight and rather thin plastic. Although in general it appears to be quite solid, it doesn't flex anywhere while sitting on the chassis. But the lid is attached to the body with a bunch of small latches that can be easily broken off if you unsuccessfully try to remove it. And most likely, with careless removal, it itself can also be easily damaged - it bends quite noticeably when removed. I had to use a bank card to open the inside of the smartphone as accurately as possible.

    Although, personally, by and large I liked this change! The plastic cover is an obvious attempt to keep production costs down, but I honestly liked it. I don't know if I would be so pleased if the color of the cover was different. But the stars turned out in such a way that I got exactly the coffee version.

    This coffee color of the lid, evoking such pleasant nostalgic memories of the good old Nokia, which I once used. The marketer who chose this shade was clearly right. And also its light roughness, which does not allow the smartphone to slip out of hands, and does not collect any prints. In general, tactile and color sensations played a role. This difference from the ancestor for me is a clear plus and a sign of the evolution of this smartphone.

    The side frame between the lid and the screen looks like an aluminum one, it does not give the impression of being plastic, plus small dents, usually typical of metal, which have already appeared on the edges, instead of abrasions that are usually typical of plastic. It looks like the sidewall is very soft and not very resistant to damage. The color of this part of the smartphone, in my case, with a coffee-colored lid, is golden. While it looks a lot prettier than the silver-colored aluminum, it doesn't look durable either, so two news.

    The bad news is that you will definitely have to look for a case. Even worse news, our Chinese suppliers are always holding back decent covers for new models. In the case of my Power Rages, it took about a year before something more or less decent appeared on Aliexpress.

    How long will it take before our new champion starts wearing off without a cover? Hopefully, the look of the smartphone will be able to stay in order until decent covers appear?

    Otherwise, this smartphone is a standard candy bar, similar to hundreds of other models. Not fat. The arrangement of the elements is, in principle, also standard. Unless, it seems to me that this is exactly the case, it was made for the left hand. Volume buttons - separate for "quieter" and for "louder" (which is nice, the monotonous rocker is already fed up) - are located on the left side of the case, and it turned out to be more convenient to use them just when the smartphone was in my left hand. On the right side of the case there is a power button, on the top side there is a headphone jack, on the bottom there is a micro-USB connector.

    On the front panel, you can see touch keys (without backlighting), a telephone speaker, a camera and ... What many users of smartphones of this brand lacked so much - a diode signaling missed calls and SMS! Definitely a plus! ☺

    Probably, for someone, happiness consists of such little things? ☺

    On the back there is a camera, a flash, the manufacturer's logo, and a speaker mesh, along the edges of which there are two small pimples that prevent the smartphone from lying firmly on the surface and muffling the ringing sound. In principle, the entire meeting "by clothes" can be considered complete.

    "User! This is a smartphone ... A smartphone! This is a user ..."

    But if you, like most normal people, are engaged in processing your photos on a desktop, then this will not be a problem for you.

    And if someone tells you that "the screen is dull", just turn off the same automatic brightness control of the display, separate from MiraVision. Violent light will burn out your eyes. And certainly everything will be visible even in bright light. Here the screen is definitely good in brightness!

    Viewing angles will also turn out to be bearable, in fact, at an extreme angle of about 170 degrees to the screen, you will be able to discern information on it. But this will surprise no one. I see a slight tendency towards blue when the screen is tilted, but perhaps this is due to my personal picture settings, because sometimes they complain about yellowness.

    Hardware, not lyrical

    This is the already mentioned MiraVision technology that improves image quality. Or CorePilot technology, which provides a smartphone with a balance between performance, power consumption and heat dissipation. It is thanks to her that the smartphone is cool almost all the time and still uses up battery energy sparingly - despite the larger number of cores than the simple Five, and not such an economical screen.

    Thanks to all these characteristics, the smartphone is gaining good results in tests, if these numbers are still important for someone?

    In the AnTuTu performance test, I scored 36725 points, versus 27584 for a simple Five, this is even slightly higher than the Samsung Galaxy S4. In the GeekBench test, my EVO scored 2848 versus Five's 1843.

    And from the experience of using in real life- I can say that the game Need for Speed started without any problems and calmly allowed to drive through the night streets. And apparently, all the other, not so "active" games, will go well too.

    No, in standby mode it will calmly last a week, one and a half, or maybe two. After turning on the "power saving" mode, the built-in sensor cheerfully reports to us that the operating time is expected to be about 13 days.

    But we need to do more than just wait, do we? Sometimes we also want to work on a smartphone. And here we may be disappointed - we will not find a record duration. According to the results of synthetic tests: a mixed load, according to PCMark, gives us at least 640 minutes of continuous work, versus 820 minutes for a regular Five. The consolation is that some of the Boosts with a more capacious 6000 mAh battery gave only 683 minutes.

    That is, the point is not at all about the battery, as some "theorists" claim. The main reason lies in a less expensive display and a more modern processor. So everything is simple: Power Five EVO is a more affordable price and a powerful processor - an alternative to the simple Five is more expensive, not as productive, but it works a little longer. The choice is yours.

    And in my opinion, the capacity of this battery and the lifespan of smartphones of this series have increased so much that for me there is no longer much of a difference between EVO and just Five. If I had a smartphone with a much more capacious battery in my hands - the same smartphone from the Boost series, say 3 SE with its 9600 mAh battery, or Oukitel with a 10000 mAh battery, then I think I would feel the difference. Is that so?

    And so I know for sure that in the real world, outside of artificial measurements and tests, using EVO, I will not be left without communication in the middle of the working day, or during the conversation I need. Plus, a much more productive EVO gives me the opportunity to play games even more comfortably - about 6 hours, watch better films, about ten files. Well, or in a quieter operating mode, endure about 4 days without recharging. That is, one battery charge will be enough for me to get to Moscow or St. Well, or charging on a solar drive. Their price is now a penny.

    The only problem is that the battery, discharged to 20 percent, charged all night.

    Photo, video and other multimedia

    Of all the multimedia capabilities of a smartphone, I usually only use audio listening. Sometimes you need to be able to isolate yourself from the environment and fellow travelers with the sounds of "Russian Field", or Avril Lavigne, or even Midnight Riders, if you find it, although lately I've been listening to self-instruction manuals of a foreign language. Both convenient and practical. Let those with whom the minibus brought you together continue to carry their nonsense, and at this moment, as a normal realist, find out how they differ in Chinese words with the same spelling, but different tonality of pronunciation. In order for the Chinese to understand not only what you speak exactly in Chinese, but also the meaning of what you say.

    I had no complaints about the sound reproduced by the smartphone. Someone complains about the hoarseness that occurs when the speaker plays music, someone that everything sounds too quiet - I did not notice anything like that. But I only use the speaker to play ringtones and speakerphone, and in this case the sound is quite loud and distinct. If it is not enough for someone, you can adjust it again through the engineering menu. But proceed at your own risk.

    And in the headphones, everything is so wonderful in general. Moreover, a few more "proprietary" technologies were found in the smartphone - this time to improve the sound quality.

    The photo functions of the smartphone, in principle, also turned out to be the most standard. Unlike its predecessor, the new Highscreen Power Five EVO has a 13MP main camera. So far I have not been able to establish the manufacturer, but its parameters: CMOS, aperture f / 2.2, focal length 3.5 mm, maximum resolution picture 4160x3120 pixels (instead of 3264x2448 pixels for Five), video 1280x720 pixels and 30 frames per second.

    The camera works under the control of a standard google application, although it has some interesting modes of operation: HDR, panoramic shooting, and that "live snapshot" that was so heavily advertised in iPhones, which in fact turned out to be just a microvideo file in * .mp4 format. This supposedly "novelty", it turns out, turned out to be something like a long-known animated gif "a."

    Much more important is that this camera has a stabilization mode when taking photos. Most likely electronic, but even it already helps to improve the quality of images.

    So, personally, I didn't find any clear complaints about the quality of the photos. Photos obtained with the help of EVO can be posted not only in social networks, but even printed on something. And HDR, unlike many other smartphones, really works here, it really enhances photos.

    I didn't notice much noise in the photo, but, as always, in mid-range smartphones, photos are best taken in good sunlight.

    And here automatic function does not work very well for reducing ripples when shooting computer or TV screens. Ripples are visible on the screen. Sometimes light, sometimes quite strong, but almost always visible. But the text on the photographed screen is read very well.

    Software and everything, everything, everything else

    We can say very briefly about the Highscreen Power Five EVO software. Our champion works under Android 5.1 Lollipop. Quite old, there will be no updates, but it is simple, without any additions, improvements and bloatware. This is frankly encouraging. I'm pretty tired of the need to constantly clean up new smartphones from that heap of useless garbage that manufacturers consider it necessary to install, cutting off free space for us and slowing down the smartphone at times very noticeably. I am looking forward with irritation to the moment when Yandex will still break through to my next smartphone, waving a court order requiring manufacturers to install Yandex applications on smartphones instead of Google ones.

    I and Google applications for the most part demolish, each time thinking how to get root-rights this time. Why the hell do I also need Yandex, in which I don't use a single application at all? And knowing the habit of this firm to behave "aggressively" instead of "practical" - I believe that they, like the Chinese, will not only prevent the removal of their garbage, but also make it difficult for the user to install Google applications.

    It was also a pleasant surprise that the manufacturers did not delve into Android itself too noticeably, breaking the usual functions. In my "old" Power Rage, for example (which has the same version of Android as EVO), I still haven't found a clear way to make "contacts" not display the entire list of recipients associated with my google account, but show only those who has a phone number. The crutch on Rage was the transfer of all phone numbers into the smartphone's memory, and turning on the filter "show only numbers on the smartphone". But on EVO, the "Contacts" application worked as required - when launched, you are shown a "start screen" with important numbers attached with an asterisk, and in the phone book, a list of only telephone subscribers, which does not include, by default, neither spammers nor other persons who I just once got an email.

    The "dialer", as before, turned out to be not very convenient. Or too simple, choose for yourself. There is a blacklist for annoying people in it, but there is only one call button, although if you turned on the "ask which SIM card to call" option, you will be prompted to choose a SIM card before calling. But for me personally, this was not entirely convenient, so I replaced the dialer - with one that has two buttons at once and allows you to immediately choose which SIM card to make a call from.

    Nothing else, by and large, did not have to "tune". Unnecessary applications from Google - like books, music, games, which social messenger, photos and Google plus - can be easily disabled through the program management. Or, having received root rights, delete them altogether. Fortunately, TWRP recоvery for EVO is already available, and it has the ability to install SuperSU.

    True, you will have to use a special program for the firmware, and find out the meaning of the word scatter file, but if you cannot do this, then you hardly need root. I'm serious!

    Immediately after launch, out of the box, music file formats are supported: AAC, AAC +, AMR, AMR-WB, FLAC, MIDI, MP3, OGG, WMA, WAV. Video formats are also supported: 3GPP, AVI, H.263, H.264, MP4, WebM, WMV, Xvid.

    And I can say that a 3.5 GB video file, MKV file format (AVC video, AC-3 audio), with frame sides of 1024x552 pixels and at 60 fps went without the slightest problems and friezes. But the usual MPG file on the simple built-in player did not start, and you will have to install a more advanced one: some VLC with its own set of codecs.

    The only thing that caused constant annoyance when using multimedia functions was problems with Russian-speaking MP3 again. What is the matter is again not clear, but sometimes in one file part of the Russian tags was read without problems, and the other part was displayed in letters of the alphabet, which cannot be immediately identified.

    However, this was a real problem only when using the built-in application and when setting the music to the ringtone. After changing the player to an alternative, everything was in order - tags of any format were displayed as needed.

    It is also strange why the full encryption of the smartphone was "cut out", only the protection of some categories of files remained. In any case, I did not find a simple and understandable item "Encrypt all data" in the "Security" menu, as in Rage. Only the item "Data protection", where it was proposed to protect pictures, music or videos, but protection of the address book or other equally important functions was not provided. As well as full protection of the phone. Let's hope that this will be fixed in future firmwares, or in mods.

    But it turned out to be provided for unlocking the OS bootloader directly from the menu for developers. If I remember correctly, it is the impossibility of such unlocking that makes it difficult for mods to appear or install another version of Android.

    As a result, about software, we can only say that now there are two firmware versions available in the form of update files - 1.0.5 and 1.0.9 - at first glance, they are almost equal and easy to use. In the first, however, there is no explicit possibility of putting different calls to different SIM cards. In the second - according to reviews, sometimes the mode fails " double tap to unlock ", and the smartphone, brought to your ear, with the screen extinguished by the proximity sensor, will still unlock, and you, touching it with your cheek or ear, start everything.

    What to use is up to you. There are no alternatives yet, however there are none on Power Rage either. Although it is precisely here that Five differs for the better - my beloved MIUI is not for him, but there is already Cyanogen and Flym. So maybe something alternative will appear on EVO soon. But simple updates to the Android version are unlikely.

    At last I will tell you

    In conclusion, I can say that although a smartphone can really raise some questions, nevertheless, it is quite an interesting thing to buy. It all depends only on your priorities. In my opinion, there were enough pluses in it for me to feel satisfied with the novelty. And I can safely recommend it to others, since not only I am satisfied.

    “Today I have a record, only 3% gobbled up during the night. And in general, the phone is already the second day without charging. With my yuzanye it's just drop dead, tk. Nexus 5 charged twice a day. "

    Light-strength

    Aperture (also known as aperture, aperture, or f-number) is a measure of the size of the lens aperture, which determines the amount of light entering the sensor. The lower the f-number, the larger the aperture and the more light reaches the sensor. Usually, the f-number is indicated, which corresponds to the largest possible aperture of the aperture.

    f / 2.8
    Focal length

    The focal length indicates the distance in millimeters from the sensor to the optical center of the lens. Equivalent focal length (35mm) is the focal length of a mobile device camera, equated to the focal length of a 35mm full-frame sensor, at which the same angle of view will be achieved. It is calculated by multiplying the real focal length of the mobile device camera by the crop factor of its sensor. The crop factor can be defined as the ratio between the diagonals of a 35mm full-size sensor and a mobile device sensor.

    When I had a question about which phone is better to choose to be reliable and not expensive, I read a bunch of forums. And I came across a review about Highscreen, a completely unfamiliar brand for me, but it had everything I needed and nothing more. A Russian development sounded promising, well, I think I'll take a chance and the price is very tempting.

    In general, the risk was justified, I'm happy. Works very fast, the hostess does not get nervous, I have no questions or complaints about him. And I did not find any shortcomings in more than 2 years of use.

    The main advantage of this smartphone for me was the battery, in the first year of use in the call mode (without the Internet) the phone could not be charged for almost two weeks !!! Now, if I do not use the Internet very actively, I charge it about once every three days and it suits me, more than. The perfect smartphone for travelers!

    I think the camera is quite decent, I like it.

    The native Highscreen headphones broke down very quickly, but this is nonsense, I still prefer wireless headphones.

    The sound quality during the conversation is excellent, as well as the sound of ringtones and the player.

    The phone comes with a protective glass !!!

    It was also easy to buy a cover, "Uncle Ali" has everything!

    And of course the affordable price is also one of the advantages of the phone!

    Technical specifications:

    CPU: 1300 MHz (8-core), graphics processor

    Memory: 16 GB, 2 GB RAM, microSDXC, microSDHC, microSD

    Platform: Android 5.1

    Battery: 5000 mAh Li-Pol, USB charging, non-removable battery

    View: Monoblock, 168 g, 142x70x9.6 mm

    Screen: 5 ", touchscreen, 1280x720, capacitive, AMOLED, 16 million colors.

    Camera: 13 megapixels, 4160x3120, flash, face detector, autofocus.

    In a new smartphone Highscreen Power Five evo I have everything I need: an 8-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of ROM, a 5-inch IPS-screen, 4G support, two cameras (13 MP and 5 MP) and a capacious 5000 mAh battery. At the same time, the phone is inexpensive - 11,990 rubles. And this is perhaps the most important thing. Let's see how good one of the most budgetary and simple 5K models is. I tried to find cons, but there are none yet. However, I will be testing the phone for a long time, and I will probably dig more.

    I have tested a more advanced model earlier. This overview can be seen here. Highscreen Power five EVO is simpler (the smartphone has Android without frills, the screen is IPS, not AMOLED), but it is cheaper by four thousand rubles.

    Pros of Highscreen Power Five EVO
    1. Price. If you do not take into account the order of the "Chinese" via the Internet, our model has few competitors.
    2. Battery. During the test with continuous online video playback, the smartphone lasted 11-12 hours. This is an excellent result, but in fairness it should be noted that the Highscreen Power Five Pro with the same 5000 mAh battery lasts almost twice as long due to a less power hungry processor and AMOLED screen.
    3. Screen. It uses a 5-inch IPS display (1280x720) with protective glass Asahi Glass Dragontrail (they say this glass is not worse than the much-praised Gorilla Glass 3) and an oleophobic coating. By default, the screen is covered with a protective film. The kit also includes another protective film.
    In the sun, the display almost does not glare, everything is perfectly distinguishable even at the middle of the brightness. The resolution is not the highest, but it ensures long-term operation of the smartphone (for me, this is more important than FullHD pictures).
    4. Two SIM cards. If I'm not mistaken, both modules (microSIM) support 4G operation. There is only one radio module, so SIM cards work in alternating mode. If you are talking on one sim card, the other will be unavailable. In rest mode, both SIM cards are available.
    5. Memory. At first, you have about 11.2 GB of ROM available to you. After updating all the preinstalled programs, you will be left with 9.7 GB of ROM. If that's not enough, you can use memory cards up to 256GB (SDHC). Applications can be easily transferred to the memory card and vice versa (no unnecessary manipulations are needed).
    6. OTG support. You can charge other smartphones and tablets, connect any flash drives (if there is a card reader) and USB flash drives. Everything works by default, you don't need to get root rights. Here are just no OTG cable included.
    7. Pure Android. There are no additional (and often unnecessary for the user) programs on the smartphone.
    8. Decent GPS. The day was cloudy, but after two minutes the phone connected to 11-12 satellites (20 satellites were found), and the measurement accuracy was 3-5 meters. There is built-in support for GLONASS.

    Cons of Highscreen Power Five EVO
    1. Sound. The volume and sound quality could be better.
    2. Mediocre cameras. In the coming weeks I will often take pictures with my phone and after that I will show some sample photos. But in low light, the main camera does not always focus correctly. Perhaps this will be fixed in the next firmware. In settings front camera the maximum resolution is 3 megapixels, although judging by the pictures it is 6 megapixels. The description indicates 5 megapixels.
    3. Secondary. Some Internet users point out as the main disadvantage that Highscreen Power Five EVO is exact copy Chinese smartphone Ramos M7, released late last year. I do not see anything wrong with this copying. We deal with budget model, and in such a segment there are a lot of practically identical phones on the market, which are sold under different brands.

    Battery and run time
    The battery capacity is 5,000 mAh (3.8 V). The battery is not removable.
    When watching an online video on YouTube, the smartphone lasted 11-12 hours (brightness and volume in the middle, listening through headphones, mobile Internet and Bluetooth are disabled). Discharged at about 8-9% per hour.
    Full charging time from the standard charger (2 A) in the off state is 2.5 hours.
    The time to turn on the smartphone is 40-45 seconds.
