Not so long ago, information about mysterious processors flashed on the network Samsung Exynos 7650 and Exynos 7880. Their exact positioning on the market is not clear yet.
We have already written about the main chipset of the future Galaxy S7 - and which will be used in budget option“Sevens” for the domestic market of India and, possibly, some other developing countries. However, the set of new chips from Samsung is not limited to this, according to the publications that have published information about the Exynos 7650 and Exynos 7880.
Analysts point out that these new "stones" are unlikely to be intended for the top-end Galaxy S line, rather they are competitors of the budget Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 SoC, which is used in mid-range smartphones. Apparently, in the near future, the Korean giant is preparing to update the line Samsung Galaxy A, where the Exynos 7650 and Exynos 7880 can find their place.
Exynos 7650 and Exynos 7880 Specifications
It is clear that neither the Exynos 7650 nor the Exynos 7880 will have outstanding performance parameters, the manufacturing technology will also be outdated - 28 nm HKMG, but they will not heat up and consume a lot of energy.
Both processors, judging by the available data, will be built on the big.LITTLE architecture and include four Cortex-A72 and Cortex-A53 computing cores. The graphics accelerator in both cases is the same - Mali-T860. The main difference between the new budget chipsets will be the processor clock speed.
Exynos 7650
The Exynos 7650 will include 4 Cortex-A72 cores at 1.7 GHz and 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.3 GHz. The RAM used in the Exynos 7650 is 32-bit LPDDR3 clocked at 933 MHz and throughput 14.9 Gbit. Mali-T860 graphics accelerator this case will be rather weak - only three ARM Mali-T860MP3 cores with a frequency of 700 MHz.
Exynos 7880
In turn, the Exynos 7880 will also include 4 Cortex-A72 cores, but with a frequency of 1.8 GHz, and 4 Cortex-A53 cores will operate at the same 1.3 GHz frequency. The Exynos 7650 will have faster RAM - 32-bit LPDDR3 with a clock frequency of 1066 MHz and a bandwidth of 17 Gbit. The Mali-T860 graphics accelerator will already have all four full-fledged ARM Mali-T860MP3 cores with a frequency of 700 MHz.
Traditionally, Qualcomm's chips are based on the Cortex-A53 architecture. And the same can be said for the Exynos 7880 - it has 8 Cortex-A53 cores on board, which are used to provide performance. The chip looks interesting against the background of ordinary budget and middle class processors. However, let us compare specifications our competitors today.

As you can see, Exynos surpasses Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 in some parameters, but does not reach the level of 636 "dragon". However, in order to understand how much weaker it is, you need to test it.
Test results

And now about Exynos. This chip typed in mobile test AnTuTu has only 60,000 points. It could not even overtake the Snapdragon 625. There is nothing to say about the 636 "dragon". 60,000 cannot be compared to 120,000.

Now let's compare the graphics characteristics of all three processors. This is necessary in order to understand how smartphones with these chips on board will pull (or not pull) modern games.
Chips of different performance often demonstrate roughly similar characteristics of the graphics part. But not in this case. The graphics parameters of both "dragons" and Exynos are completely different. See for yourself.
As you can see from the table, Exynos is very close to the 636 "dragon" in terms of graphic characteristics. And the screen resolution even surpasses it. Snapdragon 625 is in third place on this point.
Camera support
It is the processors that decide how high-quality and advanced the smartphone camera will be. These characteristics are as important as the graphical ones. Here's what these three chips have to offer to users.
Exynos is losing again. The lack of support for a dual main camera can cause particular resentment among users. And the processor does not allow the camera to write in 4K, which in 2018 is already a big mistake.
Other characteristics
This section includes minor parameters that do not affect performance in any way. These are navigation capabilities, wireless interfaces and other features.

In these parameters, Exynos finally caught up with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. There are no differences in the chips in this regard. And only the 636th "dragon" confidently holds the leader's bar.
