ES Explorer is an application in Russian for Windows. Download the program File Explorer File Explorer for windows 7

In this lesson, we will consider such a concept as "Windows 7 Explorer". Of course, there will be plenty of questions for beginners, what is it? what information does the guide give us?

Let's take a look at everything in order. In general, "Explorer" is a program that is designed to view the contents of any folder. That is, when we open a folder, a window opens, which indicates information about what is stored in this folder, the address of the folder, the navigation bar, etc. For a more detailed acquaintance with the "Explorer", consider the example of the folder "My Computer". Let's open the "My Computer" folder, as a result, the so-called folder window will open, in which we see the main commands for performing certain actions with folders:

1. Navigation buttons - includes buttons "Back" and "Forward", with which you can either go back one step or forward, depending on how many times you made transitions in the folder itself.

2. Address bar - given string shows us the path where this folder lies

3. Search window - allows you to find the file you are looking for on your computer.

4. Toolbar - allows you to perform various operations with files and folders.

5. Navigation panel - has a tree-like structure, thanks to which the user can select the desired folder.

6. Window contents of a folder - displays files, folders that are in an open folder.

7. Details panel - shows us information about the selected object. IN this case the details panel shows us information about the local disk D, the total size of the disk, the file system, the amount of space used. Also in the explorer there is one more function - "Area preview», Which is intended for viewing the image, video, in a reduced version. By default, it is hidden, in order to enable it, you need to execute the "Arrange - View - Preview Area" commands in sequence.

So, we examined the purpose of individual commands, now I propose to consider the operations that can be performed in the folder window itself. The first thing we will look at is the way of displaying files and folders. That is, we will customize the way the icons are displayed. To do this, click on the arrow in and select the most appropriate way to display the icons.

As you can see, there is a fairly wide choice of how icons are displayed: table, list, huge icons, large icons, regular icons, small icons, tiles.

Before we move on to further consideration of today's article, I would like to ask you if your computer is configured correctly. operating system, if you don't know, then I recommend that you read my article and set up your Windows system, the article is called:

Windows 7 explorer

In general, of course, the function explorer windows 7 very easy to use especially for novice users.

You can customize the appearance of the explorer at your discretion, to do this, click the "Arrange" tab on the toolbar and click "View". As a result, you can either choose to enable or disable the display of some elements.

In order to enter the settings for displaying folders, run the command: "Organize - Folder and search options".

The settings window will open, which contains three tabs:

1. General parameters - the purpose of each type of parameter is described in detail here. Basically, the parameters in this window are set by default, so I recommend that you leave the parameters the same as shown in the figure below.

2. View - allows you to customize appearance folder display. Extra options contain a huge set of customization folders. For a closer look at these settings, you can experiment, enable or disable some of the options. Basically, the settings here remain the default.

3. Search - this parameter indicates what requirements should be set before the search, that is, what and how to search. In the "Search" tab, the settings remain by default.

When we looked at the explorer window at the beginning of the lesson, then, as you remember, there is the "Search" tab. In general, it should be noted that the search tab is also present in the start menu, in the control panel. So, why do we need this tab at all?

Imagine that your computer contains a very large amount of textual, graphic information and you need to find a file whose location you do not remember, or the file has been moved. Using the search you can find the file you are looking for. Thanks to the indexing system, searches are carried out very quickly.

The indexing system is special team, whose task is to collect information about files, as a result, the file is saved, that is, the file or folder is added to the database. The folder that is added to the database becomes indexed. When you enter the search word in the search tab, you can notice that already when typing the first letters, the selection of words that satisfy the search will be carried out.

To speed up the search process, you can set certain search parameters, such as the date the document was modified. To set the search filtering, click on the search bar and in the drop-down menu select "Modified date" then specify the date last change the file you are looking for.

It should be noted that when searching, you can use the logical operators AND (and), OR (or), NOT (no). Let's say in the search bar you typed the word: sale NOT an apartment, thus, the search for a document will start, in which the word sale is found and the word apartment is missing. Meaning logical operators AND (and), OR (or), is used in the same way when entering, only the meaning of the search will be different. As in Windows XP, you can also use the "*" character in the search - any number of characters. For example: Quart *, the search will be carried out for words that begin with the word Quart.

The next thing we'll look at is Sorting and Grouping. Sorting allows you to show or hide information about an object in the "Table" display mode. Let's take a closer look, to do this, open the "My Computer" folder, and right-click in an empty space and select "Sorting - details", as a result, a window with settings will open. After specifying the required data for display, click "OK". As a result, the objects will take the form in accordance with the specified settings.

Grouping allows you to display objects according to various criteria. Grouping is configured in the same way, except that "Grouping" is selected when you right-click in an empty space of the folder window.

After you have figured out the purpose of sorting and grouping, it's time to start analyzing the address bar. Using the address bar, you can find out not only the folder storage path, but also quickly navigate to these folders. For example, open the "My Computer" folder, then go to " Local disk WITH".

The address bar will show a list of executed commands, if you click on the arrow to the right of the parent folder, a list of child folders will open and you can go to any of them. Thus, the user can quickly navigate to the desired folder.

The next thing we will consider with you is "Libraries". By "Libraries" is meant a folder that contains information about the files located in the user's folder. Of course, the question immediately arises: what is this library folder. This is the folder that stores "Documents", "Music", "Videos", "Pictures", pre-sorted into folders.

In each of the listed libraries, you can create or delete libraries, for this, right-click on the folder and select the desired command. In order to view the properties of one of the listed libraries, you must execute the following commands: "Start - Images - Properties (right-click)".

As you can see from the figure, you can also add or delete folders here, as well as set a default folder.

At the end of this lesson, let's look at what "Gadgets" are. Gadgets are gadgets that sit on your desktop. Gadgets allow you to get certain information (for example: CPU load, weather information), or you can just get distracted from work thanks to the built-in mini-games.

To add gadgets to your desktop, right-click in an empty space on your desktop and select "Gadgets" from the menu that appears. In the window that opens, select the desired gadget and, while holding down left button mouse, drag it to the desktop.

The gadget has control buttons that are located with right side... Each gadget has its own personal buttons management.
So in this tutorial Windows 7 explorer we examined the explorer interface, its main commands, operations carried out with folders. We learned how to add gadgets to the desktop. This concludes this lesson and in the next issue I will tell you =>.

Opening Windows Explorer, you can "pin it" to the taskbar, which will allow you to launch File Explorer with a single click. Right-click the File Explorer icon at the bottom of the screen, then click Snap to taskbar.

Consider alternative ways opening Windows Explorer.

Windows Explorer is the file manager and shell for Windows. For start file manager select the menu command Start => Computer. You will see the Explorer window.

Let's explore it. At the top of the window is a menu containing various commands for managing files and folders. Slightly below is the main panel that controls the display of files and folders (the Organize menu button), which opens additional windows (system properties, the uninstall window, the connection window network drive and control panel). To see the commands for mapping a network drive and calling the control panel, click the >> button next to the Uninstall or change program button.

On the left side of the window there is a panel of places: it displays favorite folders, local (Computer) and network (Network) drives. In the center is a list of disks. Disks are divided into categories: Hard disks, Devices with removable media, etc. A short summary is provided for each disk: the total size and the amount of free space. If you click on the drive, you will also see file system section (at the bottom of the window).

There can be so many partitions (logical disks) that you yourself can forget where and what you store. It is much easier to name the disc, for example, VIDEO and know that movies are stored here. This can be done using labels. Right click on the drive name, select Rename and enter a new drive name. The system will inform you that you need administrator rights to rename the disk, click the Continue button. But that is not all. Again, right-click on the name of the disk, select the Properties command, and in the window that appears, go to the Settings tab. Select the Video value from the Optimize this folder list (of course, if you plan to actually store movies on this disk).

The new drive name will now be displayed in the Computer window.

We seem to have sorted out the disks, now let's talk about working with files and folders. Go to your home folder by selecting Start =><Имя пользователя>... If you are interested, then on the disk, user profiles (personal folders) are stored in the C: Users folder<Имя пользователя>or C: / Users<Имя пользователя>(in Russian Windows versions 7).

Take a look at the picture.

This is the content of my home directory. Please note that the AppData folder is kind of faded, at least not as clearly displayed as the rest. This means that it is hidden. For any file and any folder, you can set the Hidden attribute, as a rule, this attribute is set for system files and folders to hide them from the eyes of a novice user. To enable display hidden files, you need to select the Tools => Folder Options command and in the window that appears, go to the View tab. In the Advanced options area, find the Hidden files and folders option, select the Show hidden files, folders and drives option.

Whether or not to enable the display of hidden files and folders is up to you. For example, I like it when I see all files and folders, but someone hidden folders interfere.

In your personal directory, you will find the following folders:
  • Downloads - all files that the browser downloads, programs for downloading files, are placed in this folder.
  • Favorites - This is where your internet bookmarks are stored.
  • Images - a folder for your images.
  • Contacts - contacts of other users are stored here.
  • My Videos is a folder for storing videos.
  • My Documents - here you can store all other files that are not music, images or videos.
  • My music is for storing music.
  • Searches - contains the terms of the last searches.
  • Desktop - used to access the desktop using the Explorer window (all objects saved on the desktop are actually saved in this directory).
  • Saved Games - You can continue a previously saved game.
  • Links - Stores the links displayed in the Favorites area on the left side of the Explorer window. By default: Downloads - a link to the Downloads folder, Recent Places - a link to the last used objects (files, drives, folders) and Desktop - a link to the Desktop folder.

You can create a file or directory in any of the folders in your personal directory. As you noticed, the terms "folder" and "directory" are one and the same, I use them on an equal footing to increase the "readability" of the text, since frequent repetition of the same word ("directory" or "folder") is considered bad form.
