Immediately I say - I liked the smartphone. The Huawei P9 lite is a cool mid-ranger (although the battery could be better). As well as its older flagship brother Huawei P9 Plus is also an excellent device (I will finish the review on it in the next couple of days).

But now I will justify the title of grumbler and grumble intensely. Moreover, grumbling applies to both devices equally, both to P9 lite and P9 Plus.

grumbler

I do a lot of battery tests. One of them is with the help of torrents. I install the µTorrent software, limit the download speed, set something to download, turn off the screen. Well, I look at how fast the battery is eating. Moreover, I conducted this test on many dozens of the most diverse android smartphones ...

As usual, installed, launched, turned off the screen. After a few hours I look - but there is no task. µTorrent is no longer listed as running. Dead process. Started digging. I am happy to find out that Huawei has already three (!) Places in the settings where you need to climb so that the tasks do not die like this:

1) Settings - Advanced settings - Battery manager. Add the application to the list of protected ones, which are allowed to continue working after the smartphone goes into sleep mode.

2) Settings - Applications - Extras. settings - Ignore restrictions. I don’t know what this means, but since people advise, I also set it up for µTorrent, saying that everything is allowed for it.

3) This is not quite the settings. We press the button of the last running tasks, we find the same long-suffering µTorrent there, we swipe down on it. A lock is drawn on the task. What this lock means, again, is not very clear ... But people advise ...

One, two, three total. Tried together, tried separately. Nothing helps. µTorrent is dying anyway. Sooner or later, one way or another, but dies. So this test could not be done.

The problem, of course, is not only the ill-fated µTorrent. Downloading torrents on a smartphone is exotic. It would be much less pleasant if all sorts of instant messengers and other Vkontakte were dying. They don't die, no. But sometimes, suddenly, notifications begin to arrive with a delay of several minutes. Or they don't even come at all. Well, that is, they immediately come as soon as you turn on the screen of the device. Patterns are hard to catch. Yesterday everything worked, today it stopped. If you have recently used a smartphone, you will beep from a new message instantly. If your smartphone has been idle for a couple of hours, most likely you will have to wait. Cunning energy saving?

On the day of pointing the marafet at the text of the review, I meditated on my smartphone for half an hour in the morning. He lay all night with the screen off. I see on the router that it is registered in WiFi networks. I send messages - silence. Half an hour later I turn on the screen - messages immediately come.

Or here's another. No, I understand that processes are killed. You never know - the memory ran out there or some other resources. But so that they were killed with such special cynicism - I have not yet met. Okay P9 lite, it still has "only" 2 GB of RAM. But P9 Plus! It has 4 GB! Run the file manager, start the video, after an hour return to the file manager and find that it is no longer in memory. How is that at all?

In short, Huawei's extremely vicious killer of processes and notification messages. I tried to get clarification from Huawei technical support. They requested IMEI numbers and firmware versions. And they fell silent. They've been silent for a week now.

(For the bore. The power consumption mode is productive, constant data transfer is on, Wi-Fi in standby mode is also. I don’t know what else can be tweaked in the settings).

Price

The official price is 20 thousand rubles. In MediaMarkt - a thousand cheaper. In a number of medium-sized stores - another 500 rubles cheaper. From China, you can order the local variety for 16 thousand.

Competitors

There are not so many similar devices (screen diagonal, multi-core processors, a decent amount of RAM, a comparable price).

Oddly enough, the main Baba Yaga was grown in her own team. The main competitor for P9 lite, I would call Huawei Honor 5C, just presented on our market. According to the characteristics - a complete twin (processor, screen, memory, battery), except that there is no finger sensor. But the body is metal. And it costs five thousand less. True, it will probably again be sold in small "waves" and everyone may not have enough ...

If you agree to reduce the screen to 5", a few more competing devices will be added:

Equipment

Only the smartphone itself came to me, without a box-kit. So there will be no traditional photo of charging headphones.

Judging by the descriptions on the websites of stores, everything is standard. Charger, Micro-USB cord, headphones, paper clip to eject the card tray.

Appearance

Weight147 g
The size146.8 x 72.6 x 7.5mm
ProtectionNot

White or black coloring with a metallic gray frame. Back cover seems to be plastic. Excellent build quality. There is an LED, but it's not very bright.

Thin.

Android buttons on the screen.

Tray for two Nano-SIM and one Micro-SD memory card, alas, combined. Either two SIM cards, or a SIM card and a memory card.

What else to say about appearance? Probably my favorite size. That's it.

It seems to be quite smooth, but non-slip. It's nice.

Boring details and photos

Above the screen, as usual, the camera, speaker, sensors. An LED is hidden in the right corner.

Below the screen is a single logo.

Rear Above - a strip of glossy plastic. On it, in the corner, is a camera and a flash.

The rest of the back surface is a nice matte plastic, not dirty. On it - in a traditional place - a finger sensor.

Below - the logo and all sorts of inscriptions.

Upper edge. 3.5mm audio output and noise reduction microphone.

Bottom edge. Micro-USB and loud speaker. There are two sets of speaker holes, to the right and to the left of USB. But the sound comes only through one. The second is fake, made just for beauty.

On the right are buttons. As usual, the inclusion-lock and volume rocker.

On the left is the card tray.

Fresh chipset of own production. Seems to be in the middle category. But, by and large, few people need more / faster. With productivity - a full order.

RAM - solid 2 GB. True, more than half is constantly spent on system needs.

Flash memory - 16 GB. If suddenly this is not enough for you - you can replace big map memory built-in memory of the smartphone. But it’s better to do it right away, when you first set up your phone. Otherwise, get toys that have lost their data, screenshots that are now stored in a memory section inaccessible to third parties file managers. Etc. In short, there is little pleasure. But in general, if you plan to install a lot of heavy programs (primarily toys) - this, of course, makes sense. A bigger memory card and more reliable - and go ahead.

Sensors. Accelerometer, compass, proximity, illumination. Well, fingerprint. Works clearly.

Communication with the outside world

From pleasant - LTE of the sixth category. Of the less pleasant - there is no Wi-Fi 5 GHz. And so - as usual, to speak in this section about nothing.

Screen

Good IPS screen high definition. I have no complaints about him at all. And if you're not a terrible bore, you won't either.

No 2.5D. Everything is flat and even protected by a microscopic rim.

The margin of brightness is good. Oleophobic coating is present. There is even a glove mode (enabled in the settings in the "Management" section).

You can play with the color temperature - it is adjustable. Three standard values - 7000K ("Warm"), 8900K ("Default"), 10900K ("Cold"). And the color wheel. The warm and cold points, by the way, are not on the borders of the circle, so the temperature spread is actually even greater than 7000-10900K.

Please note that when the temperature shifts from "Default", you will lose a little in the maximum screen brightness. Not that much, a maximum of 15-20 percent. But you will.

Operating system and other software

There is no single list of applications, a somewhat unusual settings menu.

Some pre-installed left software (Dropbox, Shazam, Booking.com, Sberbank...) Everything is quietly removed.

Battery

Battery capacity - 3000 mAh. By today's standards - a typical average value. The average result of battery tests is only 121% of my conditional standard. Not enough. I thought it would be better.

For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) phablet (screen 5.5", battery 3300 mAh) had as much as 227%.

I remember that the P8 Lite sounded… not that bad, but also unremarkable - an ordinary mobile phone at the junction of the budget and middle class. "Nine" sounds more expressive, because the clarity and volume in this model is slightly higher than that of its predecessor. The sound has accumulated a very small amount of medium frequencies and prevailing highs - music overloaded with details sounds recognizable, but not very clear. On the other hand, less dramatic tracks, both in terms of volume and correctness, are played much better than you expect from a thin model with metal inserts. Smartphone sounds about the same as samsung galaxy A5 2016, slightly better than Meizu MX5 and much better than ASUS ZenFone 2 ZE551ML, LG Nexus 5X or Sony Xperia M5.

In headphones, the sound is a cross between the implementation of audio in popular competitor chips - that is, the sound is clearer and more voluminous than in smartphones running MediaTek MT6752/6753/Helio X10/P10 (Xiaomi Redmi note 3, Meizu M2 Note, Sony Xperia C5 Ultra), but still less detailed than successful representatives based on Snapdragon 615/652 (LG G5 SE, HTC One A9).

The maximum volume is slightly above the average level, the study is a solid "four". This is if we talk about browsers and applications. In a standard audio player, it is possible to enable the SWS (Super Wide Sound) function - it really ennobles the sound, adds bass and volume to the music. Only now it “deflates”, it is worth raising the volume above 50% of the maximum - hearing protection, or would the audio chip beyond this line begin to disgrace itself under the load of additional “boost”?

Iron

The stuffing in Huawei P9 Lite is difficult to assess unambiguously. On the one hand, there is a modern economical (16-nm FinFET manufacturing process, comrades), "cold" chip with the same energy-efficient Mali-T830 graphics. Cortex-A53 cores cannot be called new, but the equally advanced Snapdragon 625 never made it to the pipeline, and processors of a similar design are divided into low-power ones (Snapdragon 615/616/617/Exyno 7580), and 28-nm "stoves" - MediaTek Helio X10/Turbo or Snapdragon 808.

Huawei P9 is one of the main flagships of the manufacturer, which not everyone can afford yet. It was created in order to compete with famous European and Korean flagships, and its junior modification Huawei P9 Lite received a compact body and a tasty price, which makes its purchase optimal solution for many.

The smartphone did not receive a dual main camera module, its filling is also rather close to average, but there is an excellent screen, full functionality of the EMUI shell and a fingerprint scanner. Let's review Huawei P9 Lite and you will be able to understand what will be better for you - pick up a flagship or get a simplified version without delay.

Huawei P9 Lite Package Contents

Complete with Huawei smartphone P9 Lite included Charger, micro-USB cable, headphones and documentation.

Design

Smartphone Huawei P9 Lite review proceeds to consider the design, which turned out to be interesting. Huawei equipment always looks dignified and the hero of our review is no exception. But unlike the older version, plastic is used as the main material here.

There is a subtle striped pattern on the back and front panel, which makes the design more original. But if you remove the corporate logo on the front panel and put the screen in a locked state, you can easily confuse it with Xiaomi Redmi.

But the design of the back is more reminiscent of the older P9 model - it has a fingerprint scanner in the center, and on top we see a transparent insert with a camera and flash built into it.

When you pick up the phone, the expected effect of contact with cold metal does not occur, which, combined with the low weight, hints that the case has received a plastic base in order to save money. Only the frame is made of metal, which does not neatly separate the plastic elements.

Huawei P9 Lite mini 2 black review showed that this does not affect the perception of design, the device looks really nice. The plastic is of high quality - it is not covered with prints, which allows us to call it practical and for the entire time of testing it did not receive a single scratch.

The power button and volume rocker are on the right side. They appear to be metal, but are actually made of plastic, just like the rest of the case. A place for them was allocated on the right side.

The microSD card tray is combined with the second SIM card slot and is located on the left side.

At the top we see the traditional 3.5 headset jack and it's very good that they didn't abandon it. An additional microphone is also installed right there.

Huawei P9 Lite lte 16gb review acquaints you with the fact that the central place of the bottom panel is occupied by a micro-USB port. Next to it is the main speaker and microphone.

The build quality is at the highest level, which is what you expect from a manufacturer of this level - the parts sit tightly in the case, do not creak or play, only the above-mentioned side frame hints at the device belonging to the middle price category.

The smartphone is very convenient to use, the ergonomics are thought out to the smallest detail - the keys have a pleasant stroke and are located where you expect them to be. The same goes for connectors. Do not forget about the event indicator. Huawei P9 Lite dual sim the review showed that due to its compact size and low weight, it is convenient to use it with one hand.

The keys here are on-screen, if desired, their functionality and location can be set in the settings at your discretion. The scanner can be used not only to restrict access to the phone, but also to go to the notification shade, camera, and flip through photos.

Display

Huawei P9 Lite 2017 vns l21 review moves to a 5.2 inch display built with IPS technology. It received FullHD resolution and is covered with a flat protective glass, which received an oleophobic coating of good quality. And for maximum protection, the plastic lip protrudes slightly above the rest of the case, which will save the screen if it falls.

The P9 Lit's display is surrounded by thin bezels that dark background cease to be noticeable at all. Thanks to this, the device should look great in any case color options.

The factory calibration of the screen is far from the reference - the color temperature is clearly too high, so after the first turn on you want to go to the settings and set your own parameters there, which fortunately can be done.

Huawei P9 Lite dual sim review showed that the screen brightness level can be set in the range from 5 to 411 cd / m², and the contrast is 1 to 781. The picture is easy to read on the street, the screen turned out no worse and no better than that of price competitors. Among additional features I would like to note the possibility of operating with gloves, which is very useful during the cold season.

Huawei P9 Lite Performance

Huawei P9 Lite specifications are built on the processor of its own production Kirin 650, built on a 16-nm process technology. It consists of a pair of clusters, each of which has 4 Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency limit of 2 and 1.7 GHz. The video accelerator Mali T830 MP2 is responsible for the graphics.

Compared to Kirin 620, we have 60% CPU and 100% GPU boost, which is very impressive. A special mention deserves the new i5 coprocessor, which collects and processes data from all sensors of the device. He received a performance increase, but at the same time began to consume less energy.

Synthetics:

The specifications of the Huawei P9 Lite suggest only 2 GB of RAM coupled with 16 GB of user memory, of which 10.5 GB remains for use. In 2017, this volume will not be enough for most users, and therefore it is worth considering purchasing a microSD card. But for the sake of increasing the amount of space, you will have to sacrifice a second SIM card. The micro-USB port does not support the ability to connect external devices via OTG.

Huawei P9 Lite gold 2 16gb review showed that Kirin 650 is comparable to MediaTek's other mid-range chip Helio P10 in synthetic tests. Kirin is slightly superior in terms of graphics, otherwise we see an identical result.

In terms of performance, the smartphone is average - it will run most games, but on the maximum graphics fps will be average and the impressions will not be the same. Tanks can still be played on high graphics, but in more demanding games we see no more than 30 fps. Brakes and delays do not occur, it pleases.

autonomy

Overview Huawei phone The P9 Lite goes to its 3000 mAh battery. The manufacturer promised to improve power consumption when developing a new chip, and after testing, we can say with confidence that he succeeded. Compared to the P8 lite, it has become much more enduring under the same testing conditions. But at the same time, it can be called a long-liver with a big stretch, because with active use he barely makes it to the evening.

When reading at the minimum comfortable level of brightness, autonomy was enough for 14.5 hours. Huawei P9 Lite 16GB review showed that continuous video playback landed the phone at half brightness in 10 hours. In games, he lasted a little over 4 hours.

Interface

Smartphone Huawei P9 Lite 2 black review shows what is used here branded shell Emotion UI 4.1 based on Android version 6. Its distinctive features include the ability to control gestures and virtual key, which, when pressed, displays the radial menu. It is very convenient when operating with one hand, you can immediately see the main functions in front of you. You can choose from thousands of available themes and switch to a simplified desktop display mode. Purpose function keys can be changed at your discretion.

The Huawei P9 Lite review showed that current events are displayed on the top curtain. It is divided into several menus, when scrolling to the second one we see icons quick access to many functions, and even more of them will be if you swipe your finger from the bottom up.

Wireless interfaces

Smartphone Huawei P9 Lite 16gb review makes it clear that in order to expand the amount of internal memory, you have to sacrifice a second SIM card. If you need two, then you won’t be able to increase the volume, there is no separate slot for microSD. The device works great in all forms cellular communication, including LTE. It quickly connects to the network and does not lose connection, ensuring the constant availability of the subscriber. Also pleased with the work of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Huawei P9 Lite camera review

If the development of the Huawei P9 camera was carried out jointly with Leica, then there is nothing like this. The phone received a main camera of 13 and a front camera of 8 megapixels. The latter does not shoot perfectly, but with good lighting You can take amazing selfies with it. Huawei P9 Lite review of the camera showed that the front camera was not endowed with an LED flash, but instead, when shooting in low light, the backlight of the screen itself is used. It turns on a moment before shooting.

The main camera uses a Sony IMX214 module with f / 2.0 aperture, in addition to which there is a bright flash. Autofocus works flawlessly - everything is fast and clear.

The interface of the Camera app contains so many settings and shooting modes that you can easily get lost in them. But all the menu items are built logically, the interface is easy to use. With a gesture on the left, you can display the available shooting modes, on the right - the camera settings. Below is a menu for those who like to experiment with manual settings shooting. Huawei P9 Lite review in Russian showed that you can set the white balance, ISO, shutter speed, focus control and much more.

Sample photo:

Video shooting can be done in FullHD resolution at 30 fps, which the manufacturer rather went for on purpose, leaving 4K only in its flagships. Slow motion is possible in 720p resolution at 120 fps.

There is stabilization here, but when shooting on the go, it practically does not play any role. In terms of quality, we have well-detailed videos, but the overall impression is spoiled by small lags and dips in speed. The suppression system extinguishes well extraneous noise, providing high quality sound when recording.

The overall verdict is that the camera is good and is about on par with the competition. Traces are visible in places. software processing, due to which detail is lost on some frames. The main disappointment was the sharpness zones at the edges of the picture, but you don’t remember about them when shooting at a short distance.

Conclusion

Huawei P9 Lite dual sim black review has come to an end and it's time to sum it up. It has already become commonplace for us that gadgets from China are much cheaper than their European competitors with identical characteristics. But the Huawei brand managed to break into the world level, which is why the cost of its devices is gradually increasing and is already an order of magnitude higher than its Chinese competitors.

Huawei P9 Lite has become a pleasant exception to the rule, because for $182 we are offered a device with a fingerprint scanner, a FullHD display and good performance. What they regretted was the amount of RAM and built-in memory, they are really not enough here.

Where can I buy?

Your assessment of the smartphone:

Huawei P9 Lite fits comfortably in the palm of your hand and looks very attractive. But managing it with one hand is no longer very convenient, and the design evokes a feeling of deja vu at all - the smartphone is similar to both Huawei P8 Lite and Huawei P9, however, it also does not differ much from Huawei P8.

Dimensions Huawei P9 Lite: 146.8 × 72.6 × 7.7 mm, it is similar in size to the Sony Xperia Z3 +, but slightly inferior to it, and compared to the Samsung Galaxy J3, it is thinner and taller. The weight of the device is 145 grams, which is not much, the 5-inch Asus Zenfone 2 Laser ZE500KL weighed the same.

The design of the smartphone is attractive, but not original - it can not be immediately distinguished either from its predecessor or from its older brother. Only minor details have changed, such as the design of the keys, the texture of the back or the appearance of the lens. The front panel does not evoke any emotions at all, only the Huawei inscription and black frames around the display can be noted - already a typical way to make the side frames visually thin (they are not visible when the display is off). Speaking of frames, they are really not that thick, the ratio of the screen area to the surface of the device is about 70%, which is a good indicator. The side faces are made of metal, these are not just stylized plastic inserts. Rear panel smooth, but not slippery, visually, again, not very remarkable. On it you can see the logo with the inscription Huawei, but the same inscription is already on the front panel, why it is still here, it is not clear. In addition, a square fingerprint scanner and a sticky strip on top can be noted on the back. Purely subjectively, the surface seemed unpleasant to the touch, especially that very strip on top - as if touching jelly that had dried up a couple of months ago.

The body materials of the smartphone feel like a metal Samsung Galaxy A3. But unlike it, the body of the lightweight P9 Lite is not made of metal, but of matte plastic, with the exception of the side frames. It scratches easily, but overall the build quality is quite high for a thin body.

Huawei Honor P9 can be bought in three colors - black, white and gold.

Screen - 4.8

The Huawei P9 Lite phone received a high-quality 5.2-inch display, it is clear and bright, but with a slightly overestimated color temperature. However, it can be adjusted to your taste with the help of image settings.

The display received a high Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). The image on such a screen looks very clear, because the pixel density is 424 dpi. Making the resolution higher is basically useless, the eyes simply would not notice the difference. The screen received a very effective oleophobic coating - it barely gets dirty and is easily rubbed off. Viewing angles are good, but average by the standards of IPS matrices. The brightness range is quite large - from 10 to 510 cd / m 2 , on a sunny day the screen is read quite easily. In the dark, the screen is also comfortable and does not blind your eyes too much. The smartphone is equipped with an auto-brightness function, which works quickly, but tends to save money - we always wanted to add a little more brightness to make the display a little more readable. The image contrast is average, 900:1, slightly worse than that of Huawei Honor 7. The color gamut covers 100% of the standard and even “falls out” of it, apparently, claiming to be something between sRGB coverage and wider Adobe RGB. The color temperature turned out to be somewhat overestimated - 8400 degrees, which makes the image look a bit cool. But you can always fix it in the screen settings, choosing not only on the “warmer / colder” scale, but also with color options. The color accuracy of the display was high level, no obvious deviations were noticed, only a slight shade of blue. At the same time, the colors of the phone's interface itself (shortcuts and desktop) look a little pale, but it is quite possible that this was intended. Separately, we note such an important plus as the glove mode - if you turn it on, the screen becomes very sensitive, which will allow you to work with it outdoors even in cold weather.

Camera

Huawei Honor P9 Lite received only average cameras of 13 and 8 MP, not so different from Huawei P8 Lite (or perhaps even the same ones). They will be able to make a good passing shot, especially in good lighting, but are inferior to flagship solutions.

A serious change in terms of cameras has affected the interface, and, in our opinion, not for the better or for the worse, but really, just somewhere to the side. Previously, the main settings were available directly from the main screen, but now they need to be pulled sideways with a swipe. Pull from the left edge of the screen - you will be taken to the shooting mode selection window, pull from the right to the left side - get the settings themselves. It is difficult to give any assessment to such changes, it's an amateur thing, but at first it's a little embarrassing. As for the settings themselves, they are quite rich - there are a number of simple filters, HDR mode, Delicious Food, panorama shooting, slow motion, decoration mode and Light. Only the last mode is unusual here - it is needed to shoot light sources in the dark with a slow shutter speed of up to 30 seconds. True, so that the photo does not turn out to be unnecessarily smeared, you will need a tripod - an ordinary “accessory” for a camera, but outlandish for a phone. The camera is also equipped with a professional mode, and in it you can change quite a lot of parameters manually:

  • ISO (100 to 1600)
  • Metering method (spot, center-weighted, matrix)
  • White balance (5 options plus "Auto")
  • Exposure (from -4 to +4)
  • Focus (Auto or Manual)
  • Shutter speed (from 1/4000 to 8 sec).

The possibilities are wide enough for the price category of the phone, especially in terms of endurance. But if we talk about the quality of the pictures, then it is average for the resolution of the cameras. It's even a little sad, after the high-quality cameras in Huawei P9 from P9 Lite, you also expect something cool. But here everything is quite ordinary - a medium-sized 1/3 ″ sensor with 1.12 micrometer pixels and f / 2.0 aperture is used. The level of detail is standard for a resolution of 13 MP, focusing is quite fast (on the order of a second), and most importantly, as a rule, accurately. During the day, the camera shoots quite well, noise and fuzziness can only be seen by zooming in on the image. But in the evening and at night, like most cameras in this price range, the picture is covered with noise. The smartphone can shoot videos up to Full HD-resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). The camera also has a slow-motion video mode at 120 frames per second, but the resolution drops to a ridiculous 640x480 pixels. Seriously shooting something in this quality is simply unrealistic. The camera does not have tracking autofocus, but you can “tap” on some object, in which case the device will try to keep it in focus. Moreover, unlike its predecessors, this function began to work more or less adequately - it does not lose the desired object so often and really somehow monitors it.

The front camera received immediately 8 MP, but they are not used very effectively. This allows you to get more details in the light, but all this gain is lost in poor lighting, indoor selfies no longer look very good when you zoom in. The camera does not have a separate flash, but if necessary, the display itself can highlight your selfie in the manner of Retina Flash on the iPhone 6s.

Working with text - 5.0

The Huawei P9 Lite comes pre-installed with two keyboards: the standard one from Google and the Huawei Swype. The first can be called typical, it does not markup additional characters, but there is support for continuous input and switching between languages using separate key. The corporate keyboard is also interesting, in addition to the same functions, the icons with keys also have markings for additional characters and a whole bunch of things. For example, showing the trajectory of the movement of the finger, adjusting the height of the keyboard, fonts and special gestures for control. The only thing we didn’t like was switching between languages – it happens by holding the space bar and “swipe” up and then choosing a language from the drop-down list.

Internet - 5.0

Huawei P9 Lite comes preinstalled with Google browsers Chrome and Opera. The first is on most Android devices, but you can compare all the rest with it. Its main feature is that it eats up a lot of RAM, but it also works quite quickly. In addition, it allows you to synchronize tabs with the desktop version of the browser. But Opera has its own features, such as auto-fitting the page text to the screen width and express panels with icons of sites of interest to you.

Communications - 3.8

The set of communications from Huawei P9 Lite can be called almost top-end:

  • Wi-Fi b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct and Internet sharing
  • Bluetooth 4.1 Low Energy with A2DP
  • Support for LTE Cat. 6 (up to 300/50 Mbps)
  • A-GPS with GLONASS support
  • NFC chip
  • FM radio (requires headphones to work).

Only the NFC chip and high-speed LTE are really remarkable. Everything else is pretty typical - simple wifi and a Micro-USB 2.0 connector without OTG or Host support for connecting peripherals.

Multimedia - 4.4

The Huawei P9 Lite smartphone supports most audio and video codecs and provides quite good quality sound.

The phone plays music in FLAC and many other formats, but can't handle AC-3 (by the way, most smartphones don't like it). The built-in video player is ready to play almost anything, be it 2K, 4K, TS, RMVB or any other format.

The Huawei P9 Lite has a proprietary audio player preinstalled, but there are almost no settings in it. There is not even an equalizer, which, by the way, was in the same player on Honor 5X. Apparently, they considered it unnecessary? The only outlet is that when you connect headphones, you can turn on the SWS (Super Wide Sound) function, which improves the sound quality, making it more voluminous. The pre-installed video player also could not please with any chips, except for the same SWS and watching movies in a separate small window (a dubious pleasure for not the most big screen). By and large, it can only play video or ... not play.

Battery - 2.8

The autonomy of the smartphone can be called only average, which is already a little not “flagship-like”. We had enough of it somewhere for a day of work, no more.

Despite the fact that the battery capacity has grown from 2200 mAh to 3000 mAh, the autonomy of the phone has remained about the same. It seems that all the increase in battery life has gone to a brighter and clearer screen. When watching HD video, the smartphone lasts 6 hours 24 minutes, an average result, almost like a stylish Lenovo Vibe X2 or a large Huawei Honor 4X. In the music listening mode, the smartphone was enough for 45 hours, a rather modest result, comparable to the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser, but almost twice as low as the LG Nexus 5X. However, in other tests, Huawei P9 Lite performed well. So, an hour of operation of the GeekBench Battery Test benchmark discharged the battery by only 10% of the charge, only long-playing smartphones like Huawei Honor 4C Pro. An hour of playing Thumb Drift "eats" 26%, that is, you can expect about 4 hours from the phone battery life in games. It took only 4% of the battery to shoot a 10-minute HD movie, which is a result much better than average.

In daily use, Huawei P9Lite was enough for a day, no more. Like all smartphones, there is a power saving mode. Turning it on, you get a black and white dialer with SMS messages, all other functions become unavailable.

Performance - 3.3

Huawei P9 Lite received a fairly powerful filling, especially compared to its direct predecessor. The performance of the phone is enough for smooth operation interface and solving most problems, except, perhaps, heavy and demanding games.

The smartphone received a fairly powerful eight-core processor HiSilicon Kirin 650, four cores of which operate at up to 1.7 GHz, and the other four – up to 2.0 GHz. It is interesting that the company does not position the chip as a top-end one, it is even considered to be quite budgetary (it will be used, for example, in Huawei Honor 5C), but at the same time it is able to provide above-average performance. It is also curious that the processor is made according to a thin 16 nm technical process, that is, Huawei keeps up with the times. Huawei P9 Lite received 2 GB of RAM, there are also versions with 3 GB of RAM, but it seems that they will not reach Russia.

In daily use, Huawei P9 Lite shows itself perfectly, its power is enough to operate a heavy proprietary interface. The only problem for him is heavy games (like Asphalt 8). At the maximum graphics, the smartphone slows down, and quite noticeably, but at medium and low, the race is already running smoothly. Medium games like Minion Rush or Thumb Drift run fast and without visible problems. At the same time, the smartphone almost does not heat up - after an hour of continuous operation, the case temperature did not exceed 43 degrees at its hottest point.

In various benchmarks, Huawei P9 Lite showed results at a level between mid-range and flagship:

  • Geekbench 3 (CPU test) - 3995 points, only a hundred or so inferior
  • Ice Storm Unlimited by 3DMark (graphics) - 11586, higher than the stylish Lenovo Vibe Shot
  • AnTuTu 6.0 (mixed test) - 52999 points, comparable to Meizu MX5 .

Memory - 4.0

The amount of permanent memory Huawei P9 Lite is 16 GB, of which about 10.3 GB is available to the user. This is an average, exactly the same you get on the budget Honor 4C Pro. If you take a lot of pictures or download large programs, then you will need a memory card slot (you can add up to 256 GB at once). It is convenient that the card can store not only photos and videos, but also many applications.

Peculiarities

The Huawei P9 Lite phone received all the latest - the latest Android 6.0 and the version of the proprietary interface EMUI 4.1. The phone has a fingerprint scanner, new system and functional interface. In addition, we note the presence of an NFC chip, fast LTE, support for two SIM-cards, as well as a non-separable case.

An unpleasant feature was the so-called combo slot, in which you can choose to insert either a memory card or a second SIM card. Needless to say, the user prefers not to make such a difficult choice, but to have both at once.

As for the updated interface, it has its own oddities. The camera application has become different, the branded browser has disappeared somewhere and some interesting control features like double tapping on the screen to unlock it. The settings have become more confusing, there are fewer different items in them, it seems that often something is simply missing. For example, the battery manager - you can’t get it directly from the settings window, since in this case there is a search box in which you can find all the mysteriously “missing” items.

But it is not all that bad. The phone has a fingerprint scanner that works almost instantly. Moreover, you can use it not only to unlock, but also to control. So, with its help you can shoot, respond to incoming call, open the notifications panel, or scroll through photos.
