As a rule, with such a budget, you can choose a device with an interesting design, normal characteristics and even working cameras. And which of these does Huawei have?
The smartphone came to us in the “as is” state, but it will meet future buyers in a box with a charger, cable, headset, paper clip and documentation.
Huawei GT3 is a device in a case made of glass, plastic and metal. It is difficult to surprise someone with such a combination, but if you approach the issue creatively, you can create a beautiful and different phone. In general, the company succeeded - the device resembles Huawei products in metal processing, while it does not copy any of the existing models.
The front panel is clean, except that under the screen you can find the manufacturer's name, and in the right upper corner notice a small indicator of missed events. The sides and backrest look much more interesting. The frame is made of plastic and decorated with a linear pattern. Rear part covered with a large and thick (feels like) sheet of metal. There is also a camera slightly protruding above the surface, a flash and a fingerprint scanner.
The rest of the housing elements are in their usual places - these are the physical keys on the right, the hybrid tray on the left, the 3.5 mm jack on the top and the speaker on the bottom. The speaker and call speakers are distinguished by good volume and clear sound - you can hear the interlocutors well, you do not miss incoming calls.
The smartphone is assembled perfectly - the parts fit as tightly as possible, the body does not creak or twist even if you make noticeable efforts, which inspires a certain sense of reliability.
In Ukraine, Huawei GT3 is sold in two body colors - gold and dark gray with a black front panel.
From the point of view of ease of use, we have a standard model - the diagonal of the screen is 5.2 inches, the frames are of medium width, so the device turned out to be relatively small and many can cope with one-handed operation.
Additional convenience is provided by a fingerprint scanner. In addition to the standard function of unlocking a smartphone, you can open and close the notification panel and flip through photos in the gallery by swiping on the scanner. Fast access to notifications is a handy feature that is easy enough to get used to, although I accidentally touched the scanner several times during use. The sensor recognizes prints correctly and quickly, like other Huawei smartphones.
Display
Used as a display IPS matrix 5.2 inches diagonal with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. She is covered by safety glass with an oleophobic coating of mediocre quality. The screen is made using OGS technology, without an air gap between the glass and the matrix.
Measurements have shown that the brightness varies from 6 to 435 cd / m². The measured contrast is 1 to 640. The display is well calibrated, most of the parameters deviate from the norm to a minimum, which gives a fairly saturated and at the same time natural color reproduction - this is a standard situation for most Huawei smartphones.
There is a color temperature setting that allows you to make the shades warmer, colder, or even adjust everything yourself, giving the image the desired tone. In the "Control" settings item, you can turn on the control mode with gloves, which is useful in winter.
Speaking of personal impressions, it is worth noting good quality images, viewing angles and contrast. The brightness of the backlight is sufficient both for comfortable work in the dark and in the sun. Auto adjust works accurately, but sometimes it takes extra time for the sensor to “see” changing lighting around it. The only gripe is the practically absent oleophobic coating, which is why the screen is actively covered with prints that cannot always be removed simply by wiping the screen with a cloth. This feature can spoil the overall impression of the smartphone a little, but on the other hand, the screens of the new GT3 are glued out of the box. protective film, which will hide the flaw.
Hardware platform
As a hardware platform, Huawei chose a solution from a subsidiary company - HiSilicon Kirin 650. The smartphone has 2 GB random access memory and 16 GB of constant. Instead of the second NanoSIM, you can install a memory card. The hybrid tray will be a disadvantage for those users who are accustomed to using both dual SIM and microSD.
The SoC includes 8 Cortex-A53 cores operating in clusters of 4 cores at frequencies up to 1.4 and 2 GHz, respectively. Integrated graphics - Mali-830MP2. The number of cores and the level of graphics of the Kirin 650 resembles similar solutions of competitors (MediaTek Helio P10 and junior chips of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6xx line), but it is made in compliance with the 16 nm process technology, which made it possible to increase clock frequencies, reduce power consumption and heat. However, there are also disadvantages - the smartphone only works with Wi-Fi networks frequency 2.4 GHz.
HiSilicon Kirin 650 shows normal results in benchmarks - they correspond to the declared characteristics, and Huawei GT3 provides comfortable everyday work speed. Messengers, mail, player, browser start fast enough, and there is enough RAM to keep a couple of such programs running.
Discomfort awaits in "heavy" applications, for example, complex 3D games. The smartphone will cope with them, but the launch time may not be pleasant, especially since, distracted by the incoming message, you will have to watch the boot process again. Most likely, it is the amount of RAM that affects, because the games themselves work fine. Therefore, the device is suitable primarily for users who spend more time talking or simple entertainment (music, video, browsing).
Software platform
Huawei GT3 runs Android 6.0, covered with a proprietary shell EMUI 4.1. Like many skins, EMUI leaves little of pure Android. Here all applications are located on desktops and sorted into folders, themes are supported. Manufacturer redrawn the list running applications, notification curtain, most standard programs have their own design.
Traditionally, the controversial point of EMUI can be considered a bright design and does not look like pure Android, although this is a purely subjective assessment. You don't expect anything special from the built-in 3000 mAh battery, but the modern technological process of manufacturing the processor together with software optimization can improve the battery life.
Fortunately, it did. GT3 shows good results in synthetic tests of autonomy and a working day of fairly intensive use with communication in messengers, synchronization of two Google accounts, use of 3G, Wi-Fi, cameras, games (about 5 hours of active screen in total) lasts without problems. Battery life is comparable to 5.5-inch devices with 3500-4000 mAh batteries. Ordinary users can count on two days of work.
Cameras
Huawei GT3 received two cameras with a resolution of 13 and 8 megapixels, f / 2.0 aperture and the ability to shoot Full HD video. Branded application includes HDR shooting modes, fully manual settings, and Light modes for using a tripod and taking pictures with artistic effects at night.
Overall, the camera can be described as good, although not the fastest. The speed of launching, focusing and processing-saving photos corresponds to classmates and lags noticeably behind the flagships. There are a minimum of remarks for daytime photographs - in most of the frames taken, the colors look natural, small details are preserved, except that a little saturation is added by algorithms.
At night, the focusing speed drops and details deteriorate, but the camera still remains working - the frames taken are suitable for social networks and to show to friends and parents.
The front module is also not bad, the lens is wide-angle and you can take good selfies with sufficient light.

Appearance
Huawei GT3 is a device made of glass, plastic and metal. The combination is standard, but the company managed to create a smartphone unlike other models.
The back is decorated with a rather thick sheet of metal, the frame is made of plastic with a linear pattern.
Huawei GT3 turned out to be quite comfortable. He has a medium size allowing you to operate the device with one hand and an absolutely familiar, convenient location of all buttons and connectors.
Additionally, we can only note that the indicator of missed events on the front panel and a fingerprint scanner on the back.
The sensor works well and quickly and also makes it easier to operate. With up and down swipes, you can open and close the notification panel, flip through photos in the gallery and take photos in the camera. In practice, these functions are useful.
In addition to the dark gray, the smartphone is also available in a gold body color. 
Screen
Most of the front side is occupied by a 2.5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution.
The screen has a good margin of brightness, normal contrast and accurate natural color reproduction.
It is possible to adjust the color temperature and control mode with gloves. The only gripe is the practically absent oleophobic coating and this can spoil the overall impression of the smartphone a little.
On the other hand, a protective film will be glued to the display out of the box, which hides this flaw.
Iron
From the point of view of hardware, the smartphone can please with the eight-core platform of its own development HiSilicon Kirin 650, two gigabytes of RAM and 16 GB of storage.
It will be possible to install a memory card only by donating a second SIM card and because the tray is hybrid here.
In everyday tasks, the smartphone is shown from the good side, it is fast enough, so it is comfortable to use, but with heavy applications, in particular games, you will have to observe at least a long load, which will not please demanding users.
Software
As with all Huawei smartphones - Android 6. covers branded shell EMUI 4.1 leaves little of a pure android. A controversial point of EMUI can be considered a bright design, but you can customize the order and number of on-screen keys, the option of background work and access to the Internet via programs and much more.
Autonomy
You don't expect anything special from the built-in 3000 milliampere battery per hour, but the Kirin 650 platform is made according to the 16-nanometer process technology, so the operating time is normal, at least you can count on a day of work and 5 hours of active screen, although with less load the smartphone will work two day.

The price is also rather big: for a smartphone they ask for at least $ 211 (relevant at the time of writing the review). Now is the time that with such a budget, you can count on buying a smartphone with a decent design, vigorous performance, an adequate camera, and decent performance in general. So let's see if the subject meets the requirements of the modern prudent buyer.
By the way, an interesting story came out with the names of the device. At the start of sales, the model was only available for the Chinese market, called the Honor Play 5C. Then came the version aimed at the European market. In Russia, the smartphone is known as Honor 5C. The name Huawei GT3 is relevant exclusively for Ukraine.Moreover, the confusion in the names was not limited to. V Chinese version there is a fingerprint scanner, but in the Russian one - no: thanks, Huawei, for that.
The smartphone has a decent, and most importantly, balanced filling.
Design
For the manufacture of the case, the manufacturer used plastic (the main frame), and the back part was made of metal. The side ribs are stylized as metal, the front part is covered with glass.
And again about the metal cover: it is very, very prone to scratches. As for the body colors, there are options: gray, silver and gold.
Of the interesting things on the front panel, we can highlight the presence of a light indicator that notifies about missed events. Navigation buttons are displayed on the screen.
The buttons for controlling the volume and power received a classic arrangement on the edge on the right. On the left edge there is a combined tray for a flash drive and a SIM. There is space for the 3.5 mm jack on the top edge, for the main speaker and the MicroUSB connector on the bottom.
CPU
Huawei GT3 received an 8-core HiSilicon Kirin 650 processor. In this case, 4 cores operate at 2 GHz, and the remaining 4 are limited to 1.7 GHz. The Mali-830MP2 is used as an integrated video chip. In terms of its performance, the Kirin 650 is not inferior to competitors from the same segment from MediaTek and Qualcomm. However, it is made using the 16 nm process technology, which gives an advantage in terms of energy saving and heat reduction.
When testing the performance of iron in Antutu, the result exceeded the mark of 50 thousand points. A fairly solid result awaits the user not only in synthetic tests, but also in real scenarios of using the device. Trivial tasks are performed with noticeable smoothness and speed. Iron also copes with games with dignity: most will go to maximum settings, "Tanks" and GTA: SA - on medium.
Memory
Each user has their own ideas about the required minimum of RAM. As a rule, the amount of RAM is chosen based on the tasks that will be put in front of the smartphone. However, preferences are often based on generally accepted standards and opinions. The Huawei GT3 has 2 GB of RAM, which is enough for both work and play. The secret to performance isn't just volume and quantity: optimization rules, and Apple has proven it long ago.
But the memory for storing applications and other things is 16 GB, of which 10.8 GB is available. That's enough for your favorite apps. But, since there is enough performance, and the screen is very good, for sure, the user will want to load the device with toys and films. In this case, you can install a MicroSD memory card (up to 128 GB), having previously donated a second SIM slot.
Autonomous work
A non-removable battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh is used to ensure operation away from the outlet. For such a device, a battery is just what you need, since the manufacturer has done a solid job on optimizing both hardware and software. As a result, with moderate use, the battery can easily withstand 2 days. Either a day in mode active use... With the help of a 2A charger, the charge level is replenished in 2.5 hours (or in 4 hours with a current of 1A).
Camera
The Huawei GT3 is equipped with a gorgeous 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP front camera. Both modules received an aperture value of F / 2.0, and the ability to shoot FullHD video (30 fps). The camera app interface is very simple and easy to use for quick shooting. But, at the same time, it contains a lot of settings (including manual ones) and possibilities. Among the available modes, of particular interest is "Light", which contains optimal settings for taking pictures of the night landscape.
The user can independently set the parameters of ISO, shutter speed (up to 8 s), white balance temperature, and manually set the focus. Some manual settings are available even in video mode. By the way, you can record Timelapse and SlowMotion videos. Using the main camera, you can take really high-quality pictures: with good detail, color reproduction, and practically without artifacts. And the video is written in excellent quality.
Getting a decent shot during the day is easy. For shooting in more difficult lighting conditions, it is necessary to be able to use the correct manual settings... The final result is not comparable with the flagship devices, but it is quite acceptable. The front camera has a 70-degree shooting angle and lacks autofocus. The quality of the resulting images is quite acceptable, but only in good daylight.
Display
The smartphone has a 5.2-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The pixel density is very high: 424 ppi. The screen is good in all respects. It has excellent viewing angles, high-quality picture and color reproduction. Due to the sufficient brightness and the absence of an air gap, the contents of the screen are visible in bright daytime weather. And LTPS and GFF technologies allow the image contrast to remain virtually unchanged in all conditions.
Also, the user can independently select the image parameters to their liking in a special section. But, nothing is perfect: there is no oleophobic coating on the glass, so the finger will not slide very easily, and it will not be easy to wipe off the remaining prints.
Networking & Scanner
As already mentioned, the Huawei GT3 has a combined slot that can accommodate 2 SIM cards, if you refuse to install a flash drive. The device can work in 2G / 3G / 4G networks. In the presence of wireless modules Bluetooth 4.1LE, and even NFC. But WiFi, alas, only works in one band (2.4 GHz). GPS, Glonass and Baidu are responsible for navigation: Huawei GT3 confidently copes with the role of a navigator. Unexpectedly: the smartphone does not support connecting external devices via OTG.
