In the line "Username" and in the line "Password" enter the word "admin" in Latin (English) small (capital) letters without quotes. Then we press "Enter" on the screen, or press the Enter key on the keyboard.

In the window that appears, the current connection is presented, which is set on the default router, in order to configure the Internet connection, click on the "Add" button.

Initially, select "Connection Type" - "L2TP + Dynamic IP".

Next, we go down to the bottom of the settings window and fill in the fields "Username", "Password", "Password confirmation" (data from the contract), also in the "VPN server address" field, enter "172.16.0.1". We check the correctness of the entered data and click "Save".

The next action that is recommended to take before configuration is to reset the existing D-Link DIR-300 settings (if you have already tried to configure something yourself or it was configured for another Internet provider). To do this, use the Reset button located on the back of the router: hold it down for 20-30 seconds, release it and wait about 30 seconds until the router reboots with factory settings.

In some cases and for some providers (Interzet, various providers providing services to legal entities), the parameters that were recorded in the properties of the local network connection (IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS servers) should be recorded somewhere. Even a little differently: if something was indicated in all these fields, then be sure to write down this data.

Despite the fact that connecting a router, it would seem, should not cause any difficulties, you often see incorrect options. This is due to the fact that even with an incorrect connection, you can achieve, for example, that one computer has the Internet and at the same time digital TV works. However, it does not become correct from this, and devices connected via Wi-Fi will report that "The connection is limited or not available" or "Without access to the Internet." The correct connection option is in the picture below.

Thus, the cable of your Internet provider (or the cable coming from the modem, if you have one) must be connected to the Internet port and only to it. The network card is connected to one of the LAN ports of the router using the supplied RJ-45 cable (standard network cable).

DIR-300 firmware

First of all, a little about why it is better to update the router's firmware than not:

• The DIR-300 router you bought in the store most likely has one of the first firmware versions. The manufacturer, in our case it is D-Link, regularly releases new versions in which various errors affecting the operation of the device are corrected (disconnections, the router cuts the speed, the settings get lost). Therefore, by updating the firmware before configuring the router, you can avoid many problems.
• The firmware of the router itself does not present any particular difficulties and is available to anyone, even a "teapot". The main thing is that there is a normal leadership. This is exactly what you see in front of you.

The first step (provided that the router is already connected) is to launch any Internet browser on the computer and enter the following address in the address bar: 192.168.0.1, then press Enter.

You will be asked to enter a username and password. The standard login and password for all D-Link DIR-300s is admin (i.e. we write the same thing in both fields - admin). After logging in, you will be asked to change the default password for security purposes. Do this so that no one else can change the settings of your wireless router.

The next thing you will see is the router configuration interface, which, depending on the hardware revision and the current firmware, may have a different appearance.

This manual does not cover setting up DIR-300 B1-B3 (they are quite old and their owners, as a rule, have already learned how to set them up). Therefore, we will consider how to update the firmware in the last two options.

1. For firmware 1.3, go to "Configure manually", select the "System" tab, and already in it - update the software. Then you should click "Browse", specify the path to the new firmware file (how to download the new firmware was described earlier)

How to set up a connection

The essence of setting up routers, including the D-Link DIR-300, is for the router itself to initialize the Internet connection, distributing it to all other connected devices. The settings for this connection in the router interface are the main required action.

It should also be noted that when setting up the router, as well as after it, the previously used connection on the computer should no longer be connected. Those. if earlier on the computer you launched the connection of Beeline, Rostelecom, Aist, TTK, Dom.ru or any other, now you do not need to do this, otherwise, because the connection has already been established directly by the computer, the router, most likely, will not be able to establish it (in some cases, it is possible that several parallel connections work, but for most home Internet tariffs it will not).

Let's move on to setting up the connection. On the main page of the router settings at the bottom, click "Advanced settings", then on the "Network" tab, select "WAN" and click "Add" at the bottom of the page, which will display one connection with a dynamic IP address.

Now our task is to correctly fill in all the fields correctly, while the correctness is determined by what type of connection your provider uses:

• Online - Dynamic IP, i.e. You don't even need to set up anything in the connection, the only thing you should take care of is the Wi-Fi password, which will be discussed below.
• Beeline - L2TP + Dynamic IP
• Interzet - Static IP
• Rostelecom, Domolink, TTK, Dom.ru - PPPoE
• Stork - PPTP + Dynamic IP

Information about what type of connection your Internet provider uses can be easily found on the official website or you can see the properties of the connection that was used on the computer to access the Internet.

In most cases, all that needs to be filled in besides the type of connection is the login and password that you received from the service provider, as well as the VPN server address for providers using a PPTP or L2TP connection.

After that, click "Save". And we find ourselves on the page with the newly created connection, which, as we are shown, is "broken". Also, on the top right, you will see an indicator informing us that the router settings have been changed and now they need to be saved (a second time). You should do this - otherwise, after restarting the router or when the power is turned off, all settings will be reset. Refresh the netlist page. If you configured everything correctly, without confusing the password or connection type, it will turn green and the Internet will become available. You can proceed to setting up a wireless Wi-Fi network.

Setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot

In order to configure the wireless network (in fact, it is already working, but it would be better if you name it somehow and put a password on Wi-Fi), again go to the advanced settings page of the DIR-300 router and on the Wi- Fi click on the link "Basic settings".

On the page that appears, you can specify the name of the access point SSID, by which you will recognize your wireless network among neighbors. You can also change other parameters here, but in most cases this is not required. Save the settings.

After that, on the same Wi-Fi tab, select "Security Settings". Here we can put a password on the D-Link DIR-300 Wi-Fi router. To do this, select WPA2-PSK in the "Network authentication" field, and enter the desired password for the access point in the "PSK encryption key" and save the settings.

It can be noted that, regardless of which specific modification the router released by D-Link belongs to, the device is configured using similar algorithms. At the same time, setting the necessary options when working with almost any modem of the D-Link series is a fairly simple procedure. However, there are specific features for each device. And therefore, we investigate them, studying the specifics of working with each device of the marked series.

Router D-Link 620

Let's look at how the D-Link 620 router is configured. Within the framework of this guide, we will connect the Internet, which is accessed via an Ethernet channel. First of all, therefore, we connect the appropriate cable to the appropriate port on the router.

The next step is to configure the software part of the connection interface on the PC. To do this, you need to enter the "Control Panel" of the Windows operating system, then select "Network Connections". Then we find the network card (or select the one that is used to connect to the Internet), press the right mouse button, select "Properties". Next - left-click on the item "TCP / IP Protocol". We select "Properties". We set the settings "automatically" at all points.

The next step is to connect the PC's network card and one of the free ports of the router using an Ethernet cable (this type of cable is typical when connecting to the Internet via a network card).

Next, open a window of any browser, for example, Internet Explorer, Opera or Google Chrome - it doesn't matter, the functionality of the required interface does not depend on the type of program used. We enter the following command in the address bar - 192.168.0.1, press the Enter key. After that, the user enters the router control window. You will be required to enter a username and password. In most cases, when configuring a D-Link router, you need to enter admin in both fields. This is a universal, programmed at the factory, login and password for devices of the type in question.

After entering the router control area, select the tab called "Network". Next, click on "Connections", after - on the WAN connection icon. Wi-Fi setup specifics

As in the case with the previous router, we connect all the wires, and then enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser line. The username and password will be admin. In most cases, the menu of this brand router is in English. To start setting up an Internet connection, click the WAN tab. We select the Add button, after which we get to the settings page itself. Here, as in the previous case, we need data from the provider. The values ​​of both VPI and VCI can differ, therefore, not only between different cities, but also between districts of the same locality. After the user has entered the required settings, you can click Next.

On the page that opens, you should select the correct type of network protocol, also after consulting with your provider. For many Russian providers of Internet access services, PPP over Ethernet is typical, with respect to Encapsulation Mode - LLC / SNAP-BRIDGING option. Click Next.

The next window, of course, will also require knowledge of the data that can only be provided by the provider - this is the login and password. The rest of the options on the page, as a rule, do not need to be adjusted (unless the provider's support team advises otherwise). Click Next.

Setting up a D-Link router of the series in question usually does not require adjusting the items on the page that opens, but it does not hurt to consult the provider regarding this issue as well. If the technical support specialists do not give any recommendations, click Next. After moving to the next page - Apply ("apply settings"). Next, we prescribe the VPI and VCI settings - we, as in previous cases, learn from the provider. It is recommended to activate the Keep Alive option. Regarding the indicators for LCP, it is also recommended to find out the optimal values ​​from the provider. Now we turn to work with another important function, which includes setting up a D-link router - WiFi. To do this, press, respectively, the Wi-Fi button, then - "basic settings". Let's study how the D-Link 320 router is configured. It is noteworthy that the model with the 300 index is configured in almost the same way. Next, select the menu item "Network", then - "Connections". Click "Add". The main settings window will open. There we select the required type of connection (as a rule, it is PPPoE). In the item "PPP Settings" we enter the login and password, which, as in the previous cases, can be requested from the provider or, alternatively, can be found in the subscription agreement. The MTU value will also need to be checked with the network provider, in many cases this figure is 1492. In general, these are all the settings that need to be made. We save the parameters.

Next, we need to configure Wi-Fi. We select the appropriate item in the menu. Enter the desired name of the wireless network, set up security. As in the previous cases, we select the WPA2-PSK encryption standard, enter the password. Click "Change". Then select "System", then - "Save". As we noted above, the D-Link 300 router is configured using almost the same algorithms. This device and D-Link 320 are actually devices of the same line.

Configuring the D-Link 615 modem

Let's consider how the D-Link 615 router is configured. First, we do everything that we did with previous modems: we connect the wires, set the automatic obtaining of the DNS address and IP in the Windows interfaces. Next - go to the browser, enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Enter in the fields "login" and "password" admin. The system may offer to change the relevant data - if desired, we carry out a replacement.

A distinctive feature that characterizes this released D-link router is that setting up a wireless connection is desirable in the first place. Features of setting up D-Link modems

If we have at our disposal a router released by D-Link, the configuration of this device, as a rule, is performed within the framework of very simple algorithms, which are generally similar for all device models. What features can be distinguished in relation to setting up devices of the types we have considered?

First of all, we note that, along with knowledge of the router configuration algorithm, information from the provider will be no less useful for us - and this is the main feature of working with devices. The step-by-step configuration of the D-Link router in any modification requires the appropriate data. If they are not at hand, then it will be problematic to connect to the Internet, since the spread of indicators that determine the technological specifics of connecting to the network can be very large in practice, it is not easy to guess the right one. Step 5: Review the network settings shown on the configuration card and connect to your Wi-Fi (SSID). The password is also indicated on the card.

Congratulations! Done!

Step 6: Unplug the power from your cable or DSL internet modem

Step 7: Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the LAN port (port 1,2,3 or 4) on your router

Step 8: Connect your cable or DSL modem to your router's internet port

Step 9: Plug in the router and your DSL modem if you have one.

Step 10: Open an internet browser and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar.

Step 11: You will be prompted with the help of the D-Link router quick setup wizard, click "Next" to start.

The indicator light on the front panel will blink and begin to reboot. The router will scan itself to determine the type of internet you have. Next, the Quick Setup Wizard will start automatically.

If, for some reason, automatic scanning did not detect the type of your Internet, you will be prompted to select it manually:
