YouTube does not open on safari. If YouTube and Flash videos don't play on Mac OS X

There is:
* iPad 2 32G Wi-Fi 3G
* iPhone 3G
* Internet over Ethernet
* Router Tp-Link TL-WR1043ND - distributes the Internet via Wi-Fi, WPA2 encryption, DHCP is enabled, port forwarding is disabled, 5 devices are connected via wi-fi except iPad - two cell phones on android, two laptops, one iPhone 3G

Problem:

On iPad device when connecting via my home Wi-Fi via a router, the following services do not work:
* Sites won't open in Safari - (Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding)
* Does not work iCloud service- it is impossible to log in, a long wait, then a bummer
* Built-in client for YouTube does not work. It just doesn't load anything. (Failed to connect to YouTube)
Periodically, the application works and does not work App Store on iPad

Details and descriptions:

In other Wi-Fi networks (for example, in a cafe or at a party), everything works fine on the iPad
* On a stationary computer connected to the router by wire, all designated sites are opened - www.apple.com/ru, itunes.apple.com, youtube.com, YouTube fully works, iTunes works normally
* On Android phone connected via wi-fi in the native browser, the www.apple.com website opens, but no pictures are displayed on it, only text
* Some services also do not work on Android phone - YouTube, Android Market other

What I tried to do

* I read the article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199?viewlocale=ru_RU. I've done everything. Did not help.
* Disabled / Enabled DHCP, UPNP, encryption wifi, router firewall.
* Overloaded devices, router
* Updated the router firmware to the latest version, December 2011.

Preliminary findings

Apparently, the problem is in the settings of the router, or in its malfunction. I came to this conclusion myself.

Despite the closed nature of the Mac OS environment, which is hinted at to an inexperienced user and Mac App Store, and iTunes (a storehouse of media content), Youtube rules the world of multimedia, and YouTube was, is and will be available to all Internet users, regardless of operating system installed on a computer, as the "YouTube businessman" needs viewers.

Method # 1

Method number 2

YouTube is about clips, video podcasts, live broadcasts, video clips, and even movies. Therefore, the desire to download from YouTube is completely logical, but contrary to the mac ecosystem, because the habit of paying for content in the USA has been developed and tempered over the years, both by the Internet environment and at the legislative level. But as long as there is demand, there will always be supply.
Scrolling through the pages of the App Store, you are unlikely to find a program for downloading from YouTube, except for programs that will help you browse YouTube pages in a more familiar way. mac users interface with beautiful effects, smooth transitions and powerful search. You will not be able to view content offline. You can check it yourself by typing in the search Apps App Store something like "youtube download". The only application for this request is Tuba for Youtube, perhaps when you read this article, some other application will appear, but the likelihood that one day it will be possible to simply download from YouTube is extremely low.
So, how to download from YouTube to your computer under Mac control OS ?! It's quite simple, first, specify the name of the browser you are using, it is most likely one of this list: Chrome or Safari. If you already know which one is yours, then proceed to view the instructions below, for each browser a separate description is highlighted in this article.
If you stumbled upon this article while looking for a Windows solution, then this is the place for you.

Download from YouTube with Safari browser

1. Download the add-on for the Safari browser.

2. The file you downloaded can be found here:

3. Double click on its name and click "install" in the extension installation window:

Check the result, when watching videos on YouTube, there will be a "Download" button under the video.

Download from YouTube with Chrome browser

4. Click the Add button.
Check the installation result by opening the video on YouTube, the "Download" button should appear.
Good luck and don't forget to sign up for updates!

If you go to the most popular video hosting through Safari browser, you probably noticed: the youtube.com page opens for some suspiciously long time. Do you think your internet service provider is “weird”? But no! What to do? There is a solution!

To begin with, let's figure it out to the end with the question "who is to blame"? Google! "Corporation of Good" took a course to optimize YouTube exclusively for the native Chrome browser... YouTube has now gone through a code redesign called Polymer and is powered by the exclusive Shadow DOM v0 API. Shadow versions for Safari and other popular browsers - Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Opera, and so on - no (at least not yet).

As a result, Chrome loads YouTube up to 5x faster than any other browser.

But everything can be fixed!

All we need to do for this is to go back to what it was before Polymer.

1. (unfortunately, does not work on macOS Mojave).

2. Tell Safari that you trust Tapermonkey.

3. Install - it will force YouTube to use classic mode.

Some Apple users, periodically face a problem when, when watching a video on an iPhone in Safari, YouTube and other applications, the video does not play. Because given error meet quite often, while not being critical, the ways to solve it are simple and do not take much time.

If your iPhone won't play videos, a forced restart of the app may help you solve it! At first glance, the solution is simple and trivial, and you most likely have already done this, if so, then proceed to the next step, if not, then the forced closing of applications on the iPhone is done like this:

For iPhone X:

1. Swipe your finger from the bottom of the screen to the middle, pausing briefly at the end.

2. In the selection window that appears, select the application or tab that does not play the video on the iPhone.

3. Pinch it.

4. Now either swipe the app or tap on the minus in the left upper corner tabs.

For iPhone 8 and below:

1. Press the Home button twice.

2. As soon as you see preview open tabs, find the application in which your iPhone refuses to play videos.

3. Swipe the selected application up.

4. Now go back to main screen and reopen it by trying to play the video. If the video playback error persists, go to the next step.

If the iPhone does not play videos in any application, restarting the iPhone is unlikely to help. But, there is a possibility that the error is an isolated case and after restarting the device, the problem will not recur. We will not explain in detail how to reboot an iPhone, since virtually everyone knows this.

However, if you have been using Apple products relatively recently and have not yet fully figured out the full functionality of the device, we advise you to read the article: or see the screenshot attached below.

What to do if video does not open in Safari? Clear your browser cache!

As the name implies, the method is focused exclusively on the Safari application, or is it not? In fact, no, and Safari is the most common, popular example. You can clear the cache of absolutely any application and thus try to get rid of problems with video playback on iPhone.

To clear your safari cache, do the following:

1. Open "Preferences" and select the "Safari" section.

2. Select the "Clear History and Site Data" option. Wait for the operation to complete.

Important: After clearing the cache, all auto-login data, mainly passwords, will have to be re-entered.

Setting the correct date and time

One of possible reasons If an error occurs, in which video does not play on the iPhone, the date and time may be incorrectly set. The chances of this being the case are extremely small. But, we do not exclude the possibility of an iOS bug and human factor interference in the operation of the operating system. To change date and time on iPhone, do the following:

1. Go to "Settings" → section "General".

2. Select Date & Time.

3. If the toggle switch opposite the "Automatic" function is active, turn it off and enter the time manually. If not, just turn it on and reboot your iPhone if necessary.

Note also that in case the date and time are set correctly, do not neglect this method. Despite its simplicity and primitiveness, it can be quite effective in solving some problems.

Updating faulty applications

If the iPhone stops playing video in a particular application, most likely, the problem lies in it. This can happen due to a long absence of updates, as a result, the refusal of certain resources to support this version of the program or a system failure due to malfunctions on the part of the developer.

There are two ways to update the application. Both are standard, requiring no complex operations.

Updating Apps with AppStrore

The first way to update applications on a smartphone is carried out with his direct participation.

1. Open the "AppStore".

2. Go to the "Updates" tab and click "Update All", in the upper right corner or "Update", opposite a specific application if you do not want to update everything.

Updating Apps Using iTunes

The second method is suitable if you do not have the ability to connect to Wi-Fi or do not have enough mobile traffic... Therefore, all we need is a PC connected to the Internet, the last iTunes version, lightning cable and the iPhone itself.

1. Connect your device to your PC with a lightning cable.

2. Select the device you just connected.

3. From the sidebar, select the Apps menu.

4. Now, all that remains to be done is to select the application that needs to be updated (there is also a function that makes it possible to update everything) and synchronize all actions with the device.

Reinstalling the app

If all of the above methods are simple and do not entail any serious consequences, then starting from this point, the actions will not be the most pleasant. Another solution to the error in which the iPhone does not play videos may be to reinstall the application.

Important: It all depends on the application, but after reinstalling, there is a chance that all settings and progress that were in the application will be reset.

To reinstall the application, do the following:

1. Go to "Settings", section "General".

2. Click on the item "iPhone Storage" (in different versions iOS names vary).

3. Now select the application in which the video does not play and delete it.

4. After we go to the AppStore and reinstall the just removed program.

Reset network settings

Another obvious reason why the iPhone does not want to play videos may be incorrect network settings. When you reset the settings, all data will be erased Wi-Fi networks that were saved earlier.

1. Open "Settings" and go to the "General" section.

2. Select the "Reset" tab located at the very bottom.

3. Now select "Reset network settings" and follow the easy instructions that appear on the screen.

Software Update

If none of the above methods helped and the video still does not play, probably the cause of the malfunction lies in the iPhone itself, and not in the applications. Enough in an efficient way the fight against this malfunction will be an iOS update.

Updating the software using a smartphone

The first and easiest way is carried out using a smartphone (which is obvious from the name). All you need to implement it is a sufficient battery charge (at least 60%) and a connection to stable wifi networks.

1. Open "Settings" and go to the "General" section.

2. Select the "Software Update" tab.

3. Now click on Download and Install. The iPhone may also require you to uninstall an application if there is not enough space on the device.

4. After downloading the update, click "Install" and wait for the end of the update process.

Updating software using iTunes

As you already understood, the second method is carried out using a PC.

1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed. If so, plug in your iPhone.

2. Open iTunes and select the connected gadget.

3. In the "Overview" tab, click "Refresh".

Backup recovery using iTunes or iCloud

This solution is only suitable if the error in which the iPhone does not play the video appeared relatively recently. As the name suggests, recovery can be done in two ways.

Restore with iTunes

Recovery mode with using iTunes, suitable if you have another PC on which you created backup before the video playback problem and the Lightning cable appear. Now, all you have to do is:

1. Connect your device to PC with Lightning cable and enter the device into DFU mode.

2. Select the newly connected device as soon as it appears in iTunes.

3. In the "Overview" tab, press the "Shift" key (on the mac "option") and left-click on the "Restore [device]" function.

4. Select desired file recovery.

5. Confirm your actions by clicking "Restore" again.

6. Wait for the process to complete (the device will reboot during the process).

As soon as we wrote about the fact that a crooked connection to Wi-Fi after waking up from sleep mode was almost the only problem with Yosemite, other surprises fell in. After the release of the OS X 10.10.1 update, Macs have not learned how to adequately work with wireless networks, but the most unpleasant thing is that Safari also fell out with YouTube whose videos began to load either with errors or terribly slow with constant freezes.

When trying to launch at least some video material on YouTube, the user encounters a black screen and nothing happens. Also, the service can throw an error or simply send the browser to a state of paralysis.

It's not about Flash, HTML 5, or a cluttered cache or system. On latest versions Chrome or Firefox popular service from Google functions perfectly, so you can only complain about the OS X 10.10.1 update. The first beta version of OS X 10.10.2 updates Safari, and there is a chance to get a "cure" out of it, but it is available for download only to developers and not to all beta test participants.

The workaround where you are still using Safari is as follows:

1. Turn on the developer menu via: Safari -> Preferences -> Add-ons -> Show the "Development" menu in the menu bar

2. Go to: Safari -> Development -> User Agent -> Google chrome Mac or Firefox

Thanks to this focus, you will have the opportunity to somehow reproduce the "light" videos, but the "heavy" ones will remain in question or will take time.

We hope Apple will hurry to solve this problem, because YouTube takes up an important part of the virtual life of users.
