Do-it-yourself tablet stand. Homemade stand for a smartphone or tablet Drawing of a stand for a tablet made of wood

If you think that a cover or a convenient stand for a device can only be bought, then you will be delighted that all these accessories can be made for a tablet with your own hands with maximum benefit for yourself and a useful experience for the future. And you will be surprised how useful things can be that you got rid of for a long time because of their uselessness.

Comfortable stand

Only some tablet computers have their own stand, for the rest of the devices you have to buy expensive cases, which eventually get bored or broken. Therefore, now in a few minutes you will learn how to make a wide variety of coasters from inexpensive and simple materials.

Most likely, each user cut out various figures from cardboard in childhood, and now it's time to remember the old days again and take up office supplies and build a convenient stand for the tablet with his own hands.

Stand drawing

The image above shows a schematic drawing that you can change for a specific device - this is a kind of template, but no one forbade fantasizing.

Be sure to take thick cardboard, it is best suited from the packaging boxes of household appliances, well, unless of course it's not a pity.

Result of work

Now we transfer the drawing to cardboard and carefully cut it out, fold it in half, as shown in the image, and a convenient stand for the device is ready. Its service life is practically unlimited, every day you can do something new, the main thing is that there should be more source material in stock.

Coffee glass

Continuing the theme of working with stationery, with the help of an empty glass and scissors, an original stand can come out, and it is done in a matter of minutes.

Notch scheme

Such an unusual design will appeal to those users who like to spend a lot of time in coffee shops: I made it, used it and threw it away, and the next day you can make a new one.

Result of work

Please note that depending on the angle of the cuts, you can change the position of the device in space as you like. You can independently come up with a variety of designs and share them with your friends, and someone will definitely appreciate it.

Application of boxes

And to complete the series of cardboard crafts, the laziest users can make a practical stand out of any small box.

Small instruction

Moreover, you can use any boxes, most likely many owners of touch gadgets have small containers left from under chargers, from cartridges, shoes, boxes from photo or video equipment, and so on. The main thing is to have a good imagination, and, of course, desire.

The most unusual coasters

Anyone can cut out of cardboard, but coming up with something really original and unique is already a much more difficult task, so just below you can familiarize yourself with the most extravagant designs for a tablet; making the same with your own hands is not only easy, but also entertaining. A wide variety of improvised means will come to the rescue.

Metal stand

Most likely, in every house you can find an old and good metal hanger in the nooks, which, with the help of skillful hands and brute force, can be turned into a convenient stand for a tablet. In appearance, of course, such a device is not very good, but you are not doing it for show, but for home use and when there is nothing else at hand, even a very wonderful idea.

The second life of the hanger

You need to be very careful with sharp ends so as not to inadvertently damage the case, or even worse than the tablet computer screen, it is recommended to use pliers for bending. If you are still afraid, you can, as an option, glue pieces of foam rubber and then nothing threatens your tablet.

Plastic hangers can also be put into work, but when bending, you will have to heat up the bending points, because the product is very easy to break.

Everything will come in handy

If you feel sorry for spoiling the hanger, and a piece of stiff wire is lying somewhere on the farm, then using the same pliers and an elastic band, you can make a beautiful and aesthetic stand that will be much more attractive than the previous one.

Pencils and pens

At school, many of the neighbors on the desk took pens and pencils away to build some kind of unusual structure, and now imagine what you can do by adding a regular rubber band to this structure.

Original design

That's right, you can make a very interesting and unusual stand for all occasions. Pay attention to the image, from improvised stationery we make a small tetrahedron, which we tie in knots with rubber bands and as a result we get an excellent desktop device. Every day, you can change the colors and shapes of the pencils, add pens and rulers to the design, or both.

Baby Lego

If you have children, then you most likely understand and have already felt on yourself more than once how it is for the tenth or hundredth time in a row to step on small parts from under a toy Lego. And we have already thought many times where they can be thrown or hidden, but we never could have imagined that these small details could be used in a different way, see below.

The variety of Lego parts is so great that you can bring to life the most bizarre and unusual forms for stands: from the simplest ones, as in the image above, to full-fledged stands in the form of a case made of toy parts. Minimum costs, maximum useful time with the child and the development of hand motor skills are only advantages.

For the laziest

You can use an old lamp in the form of a stand and holder, the main thing is to firmly and securely fix the tablet so that it does not accidentally fall. For fastening, it is best to use an elastic band or, in extreme cases, a strip of some kind of fabric.

Old lamp

Another rather extravagant element of supporting the tablet in an upright position is a plunger, look at the image and be surprised at what you see.

As you can see, people's imagination is practically unlimited: very convenient and useful devices can be made from the simplest things.

And our hit parade ends with familiar book stands, which will be used by schoolchildren for a long time.

Another interesting way

A tablet stand is a very convenient thing with which you can put your gadget in any position convenient for you. It is especially necessary when watching movies or reading e-books. In stores at the moment there are many options for these coasters, but this primitive thing can be done with your own hands.

And our today's article will tell you about how to make a stand for a tablet.

Pattern

First you need to find or select a pattern for this element. Moreover, it is not necessary to contact specialists - you can independently find it on the Internet, then download and print it on a printer.

Carefully cut out the printed drawing with clerical scissors. Then select the fabric you want to sew and fold it in half (the front folds inward). Next, attach a pattern to it and circle the drawing with a pencil (you can also use chalk or a dry bar of soap).

Cutting

Before you start cutting, you need to sew 2 pieces of fabric or pin them together.

This is done so that the fabric is even and neat. Now you can safely cut the drawing you applied along the outlined contours. As a result, you will have several parts - one long rectangle and two chisel-shaped pieces.

How is a do-it-yourself tablet stand made? Installing Mounts

According to the scheme, a fastener is cut from the purchased piece of leather. It should be sewn with a needle and thread to a rectangular piece of fabric.

Sew the cover

Using the pattern, attach the side pieces of the pillow to the center piece. Next, use a sewing machine to sew all the seams of the cover. When all the details are sewn together, you get the basic shape of the stand. In this case, the pillow-stand for the tablet (namely, the back of it) should not be sewn. The hole that has formed there is filled with foam.

Insert foam rubber

Using a sharp knife and a ruler, cut 1 piece of foam rubber measuring 320x230x40 mm. Next, shape the stand. The second piece of foam rubber should measure 16x140x320 millimeters (base * height * length, respectively). In the same way, use a blade to make a triangle from a piece.

Now carefully tuck the foam into the cover section and fold the 2 stand sections together. If some of the foam does not fit, you need to take it out and cut it off a little.

That's it - at this stage, the do-it-yourself tablet stand has been successfully made. Now you will not be constantly holding a heavy tablet in your hands and enjoy comfortable reading e-books, watching movies or photographs.

What is the impact of foam rubber for a tablet?

Probably, each of us is now thinking "will the computer burn in the arms of such material?" In fact, the foam pad does not do any harm to the tablet. On the contrary, due to its porosity, this material does not retain heat, which means that your gadget will always cool.

How is a tablet stand made in a car?

If you are often on business trips or just like to travel by private car, such a thing will definitely not be superfluous for you (especially since most modern gadgets can act as a GPS navigator). So, how do you make a do-it-yourself car tablet stand?

First you need to find some stainless steel strips. Alternatively, it is unacceptable to use plastic or cardboard (we will tell you why a little later). Next, the prepared parts need to be cut. For a passenger car, it is enough to prepare strips: 2 vertical strips with a length of 170 mm and a width of 10 millimeters each, as well as one horizontal one measuring 250x20 mm (length * width, respectively). The edges of the strips are folded with pliers in such a position in which it is convenient for you to use the tablet.

The upper part of the stainless steel strips folds a little more as it will be installed in the car's deflector. By the way, this is not the only place where you can fix this part. The bottom strip is used to hold the tablet itself. The horizontal one plays the role of keeping the gadget from falling to one side. Thus, the device will be securely fixed and will not fall out of the stand in any way. At this stage, the do-it-yourself car stand for the tablet has been successfully made. And it is fixed on thin round magnets, which can be bought at any stationery store. This is why the strips should be metal, not plastic. The back of the magnets is attached to the deflector (using the Moment glue), and our stand will be attached to the front. As you can see, the design is very primitive, but quite reliable.

Additional "upgrade" of the stand

Additional inserts can be made for ease of viewing. They greatly expand the tilt angle of the tablet, which is very convenient for viewing various data and information. Also, the stand can be sheathed with fabric or leather (depending on the preferences of the owner).

Advantages of a DIY car tablet stand:

So, we figured out how to make a do-it-yourself tablet stand and how to make a car holder from metal strips.

A tablet stand is a handy thing if you want to watch a movie, read a book on a tablet, or if you are typing, use your tablet to show pictures of a group of friends.

Such a thing is not worth buying, since it is extremely easy to make it with your own hands from cardboard, wood, and, in general, from any improvised items. Here are some great ideas, most of which any beginner can handle.

In fact, a tablet stand can be made of almost anything, including what we usually throw out, so making such a stand with your own hands can be justifiably proud of yourself - you support the environmental movement;)

1. The easiest way to make a tablet stand with your own hands is to cut it out of cardboard.

Or not just from a piece of cardboard, but in a cafe, from a paper cup.

You can use some of the packaging of the iPad itself. Or maybe packaging designers secretly hoped that people would figure out how to use packaging and would not waste money on unnecessary accessories?)

2. Wire tablet stand.

From a wire, the cheapest hanger, a tablet stand is very quickly obtained, and in more than one way it can be folded ...

Or you can take a piece of stiff wire and a couple of rubber bands for money. And you will also get a lightweight and comfortable tablet stand.

3. Stand for a tablet from improvised items.

If you are in the office and you urgently need a stand for a tablet, for example, for a presentation, then use rubber bands for money and pencils (it is more convenient to take those with erasers).

The exact same design will be obtained from Chinese chopsticks.

A tablet stand will turn out to be very beautiful if you cut it out of natural wood and varnish it. But this version of the stand is for those who have skillful hands and a lot of time.

And here is a tablet stand, which can be made in 10-15 seconds. From the details of the Lego constructor.

Again the office option. A stand for business cards from a regular stationery set works great as a stand for a tablet.

If the stand for business cards is metal, then you can bend it additionally or screw in a couple of self-tapping screws so that the tablet does not fall. Probably it is better to screw the screws with something soft (again, with an elastic band for money).

If you use a computer tablet for a short time, for example, to check your mail, see the exchange rate or the weather forecast, then your hands do not have time to get tired. When watching a movie, reading a book or chatting on Skype, you have to look at the screen for a long time. You have to hold the tablet in your hands at a certain angle and, despite its low weight, your hands get tired.

To use the tablet in a comfortable environment, it is placed on a stand. Despite the primitiveness of the device, the price of the stand is often more than 10% of the cost of the tablet, although it can be made with your own hands from improvised material in half an hour.

Some are wondering, how is the tablet different from the iPad (iPad)? The answer is simple, the iPad is the same tablet as any other, only released by the American corporation Apple. Thus, the proposed self-made stand is suitable for supporting any device, including an iPad tablet.

There are many homemade tablet stands on the Internet, from the simplest ones made from a sheet of cardboard or egg packaging, which you cannot look at without tears, to ingenious lever structures. There was even a stand made in the form of a soft pillow. Such thermal insulation is extremely undesirable, since the tablet generates heat during operation, and in hot weather it will overheat, which can lead to a slowdown in the operation of the tablet and even its failure.

As a result, I never found a simple, elegant and comfortable tablet stand that I would like to repeat. Therefore, I came up with and made my own version, which I bring to your attention.

Homemade tablet stand design

An idea arose to make a stand for a tablet from sheet thermoplastic (softens when heated) plastic, from which cases of modern TVs, printers and other household appliances are made.

Before starting the manufacture of any homemade product, the first step is to draw a sketch or drawing. In the process of drawing, all geometric dimensions are specified and new ideas often arise. The photo shows a drawing of the stand for a tablet with a 10.1 ”display diagonal. If the stand is planned for installing a smaller tablet, cell phone or iPhone on it, then the size must be reduced proportionally.

A 2 mm thick transparent plexiglass price holder of a suitable size caught my eye. To make a beautiful and comfortable stand, it was enough to cut off the excess part from it and bend the edge to stop the tablet.

A stand was required for an Acer A500 tablet with a 10.1 ”display diagonal, 177 mm high, 260 mm wide and weighing 765 grams. The tablet was attached to the holder at the required angle, and a line was drawn on the plexiglass where the stop should be. At a distance of 12 mm from the stop line, a second line was drawn, in the photo on the left, along which it was necessary to cut off the excess part of the plate.

Plexiglas and any other thermoplastic plastic can be cut well with a hacksaw for metal. But it is much easier and faster to cut off the excess part with a flat end using a homemade cutter made from a broken blade from a hacksaw for metal. To do this, on the emery column, the end of the file is sharpened at a right angle, as shown in the photo. The cutter is best made with two cutting edges, one of which is thinner for cutting thin sheets.

Further along the cutting line, a metal ruler or any metal plate with an even edge is placed and along it, a groove is cut in the plastic with a cutter cutter to a depth of slightly more than half the sheet thickness. Typically up to 20 passes are required. The cutter should be guided smoothly with slight pressure.

After obtaining a groove of sufficient depth, the sheet is placed on the edge of the table so that the groove runs along the straight edge of the corner of the table top. Now it is enough to press the sheet with one hand to the table surface, and with the other hand bend it relative to the groove line and the plexiglass will crack strictly along the line. Now it remains only to bend the plexiglass along the marked line to create a stop for the tablet, and the stand will be ready.

How to bend plexiglass by heating

Plexiglas begins to soften at temperatures above 100 ° C and can be given any shape. Therefore, in order to bend a sheet of plexiglass for the manufacture of a stop, it is necessary to heat it along the bending line to a temperature of 120-180 ° C.

At home, you can heat a narrow strip of plexiglass sheet in three ways: using a linear heating element, heated with nichrome wire and hot air from a building hair dryer. It is unacceptable to heat plexiglass above a temperature of 260 ° C, as it can ignite.

Plexiglas bending is a leisurely job. To bend the plastic using a heating element or nichrome wire, the plexiglass must be placed above them at a short distance so that the bending line is exactly above the heat source. Next, a supply voltage is applied to the heater. It is possible to bend plexiglass only when it itself begins to bend under its own weight.

Since for the manufacture of the stop in the stand it was required to bend a strip of plexiglass 10 mm wide, a building hair dryer was used for heating.

In order to heat only a narrow strip of plexiglass, it is necessary to protect the rest of the sheet from heating. To do this, you need to clamp the sheet between two wooden slats or from thick plywood, leaving only the part intended for heating to protrude. You can tighten the slats using clamps, as shown in the photo, or two self-tapping screws.

Further, with a building hairdryer, turned on in the minimum heating mode, the plexiglass strip is evenly warmed up along its entire length for 1-2 minutes. When the plexiglass softens and floats, which is clearly visible to the eye, the hair dryer turns off, and the strip is quickly bent in the right direction with the help of a wooden board. You need to hold the board pressed for several minutes until the plexiglass cools and becomes hard.

The photo shows a view of a plexiglass strip bent at a right angle. The stop is bent and the clamps can be opened.

The tablet stand is almost ready. It remains to remove sharp edges from the ends and corners with the help of fine sandpaper. In my case, it was possible to do without the operation of bending the plexiglass. The workpiece already had a predetermined shape, and to create a stop, one could glue a strip of rubber or a couple of narrow strips cut from the remnants of plexiglass. But I preferred, all the same, to perform the emphasis in the way described above. It turned out reliably and beautifully.

To prevent abrasion of the tablet case in the places where it rests on the stand, its edges can be covered with tape or electrical tape, as in the photo. Instead of tape, you can glue a strip of any soft fabric.

The width of the stand is made slightly less than the width of the tablet, so that it does not interfere with, if necessary, take the tablet in hand. In this photo, the tablet has been shifted to the right so that you can see the stand in detail.

As practice has shown, due to the presence of a flat support, the stand steadily holds the tablet when it is installed both on a flat hard surface of a table or a soft sofa cushion, and on your knees. The photo shows a view from the back of a homemade stand with a tablet installed.

Once I watched a movie on an iPad, and suddenly I got tired of putting anything under the tablet. There are also coasters. But to the stand in the store - kilometers and money, but you need it right now and for free.

There are sheets of cardboard and glue.
Challenge: make a tablet stand quickly, easily and cheaply.

What is required from the stand: stability, ease of installation and removal of the tablet, the ability to install at different angles so as not to break.

Corners. At a minimum, you need a slightly tilted position for individual use, and an almost vertical position for multiple viewers to see.

What kind of coasters are there?

I have not met a suitable prototype for making it with my own hands. Not suitable: complexity, dependence on material and technology, low reliability of moving parts.

There should be no moving parts, but there should be different installation angles. The stand should be made of a simple material (cardboard, in this case), but reliable and stable.

Solution.
One-piece design with three fixed corners. Triangular section.

Distribute triangle corners for three installation options.

The sum of the angles of the triangle is 180 degrees, the sum of the angles of deviation of the front face from the vertical is 90 degrees. The tablet can be placed at angles of 15, 30 and 45 degrees from the vertical, turning the stand to the desired side.

Add tabs for the tablet to the diagram.

Determine the dimensions of the section of the structure.

Minimum: While on the shortest edge, the tablet should be stable (center of gravity below the top of the short edge).

Maximum: The longest edge should not be longer than the shorter side of the tablet.

Determine the width of the stand.
The criterion is simple: to be normal. Slightly smaller than tablet width.

Make a layout and try it out.

Process.
Corrugated cardboard sheets are glued with PVA glue.

The ends on the sample are pasted over with a sketch so that the cardboard does not wipe the body of the device.

Total:

It is convenient to take and carry by the top with the tablet:

Three angles of inclination:

The sample works safely for a month.
