Then you gradually get used to it, the laptop becomes your usual everyday assistant. Then you begin to feel that there is not enough originality, your device is the same as many millions of others, gray and faceless. Being in the last "stage" of attachment to the laptop, I decided to give it a fresh color.

At first, of course, the thought arose: why not replace the old friend with a new, designer laptop? A careful search for unconventional design yielded disappointing results, the most memorable of which is the HP Pavilion DV2800T Artist Edition.

HP can only be commended for trying to stand out. But I am not satisfied with this picture - what to do? Look for other ways, without replacing your faithful assistant.

The next option I found is airbrushing, which, as it turned out, is used not only in the auto industry. There are no longer any restrictions for the flight of imagination and the choice of the applied pattern on the laptop cover. However, the prices are quite biting, not for me - from 5 thousand rubles. To apply airbrushing, you will have to part with your portable assistant for a week or two.

The third option is designer laptop stickers. The decal is a vinyl backing that is printed with a pattern. The vinyl is then covered with a clear, protective lamination. For work we need the following tools and materials:

A picture that will decorate your laptop.
Acrylic primer.
A set of acrylic paints.
Topcoat varnish.
Painting brushes for applying glue and paints.
Small rubber roller.
File.
Medical alcohol.
Sandpaper.

Getting started

1. Choose the motive that you want to complement the design of the laptop. This can be any picture you like found on the Internet. You will need to print it on a laser printer. Inkjet printing will not work, as the image will bleed at the slightest exposure to moisture.

After the varnish is completely dry, peel off the picture. It is necessary to carefully separate the lower layers of the paper and leave only the thinnest upper part with the pattern applied to it. 3. Prepare the laptop for work - seal all holes on its surface with masking tape. The lid must be degreased. It is most convenient to do this with medical alcohol soaked in medical wipes. Wipe the laptop surface thoroughly. If this is not done, the primer may not evenly cover the lid and over time the pattern will begin to peel off.

4. Cover the surface with several coats of acrylic primer (spray or conventional). Dry each layer well. Work over the primed lid with fine emery paper to smooth out any irregularities.
5. To disguise the logo of the laptop manufacturer, apply texture paste to its image. Fill in all the unevenness of the lettering with a hard brush, and then smooth the surface with a spatula.
6. Cover the background with white acrylic paint.
7. Apply glue to the back of the pattern laid out on the file. Place it gently against the laptop surface and smooth it over the file with a rubber roller. Apply additional glue along the edge of the pattern.

8. Use acrylic paints to paint elements of the image on the background of the lid to visually combine it with the applied design.

9. Once completely dry, cover the laptop lid with several coats of acrylic varnish.

For work I needed:

The object itself is a laptop,

White acrylic primer,

Eggshell,

Photo reproduction,

Colored acrylic paints (white, blue, blue, dark green, black),

Silver outline

Acrylic varnish, glossy.

Let's start!

We will seal with masking tape all the places where the ingress of paints and varnishes is not desirable, degrease the surface with an alcohol-containing composition (in my case, vodka)))) and prime the company logo in the center of the lid.

After the paint dried, I marked the borders of the drawing and began to lay out an eggshell mosaic along the outer edge. A very painstaking task. I glued the shell to concentrated PVA glue (for strength).

Leaving the mosaic to dry, I took up photography. Oh, and I was tormented with her. I didn't think it was so troublesome !!! It took 2 hours. First I covered it with two layers of varnish. As soon as it dried, I soaked it in a bowl of water, but even after 15-20 minutes, nothing happened to the photograph ((Only varnish of tears.

But I didn’t despair and sanding the back of the photo with a sandpaper soaked it again. Only after that did I barely manage to remove the extra layers of paper. That's how I, with great difficulty, but won and conquered her, albeit with minor flaws (the eye of an experienced decoupage woman will immediately notice everything)

I smeared the surface of the picture with PVA glue and the surface for the drawing too, and with the help of a file transferred the picture to the lid of the laptop. I smoothed out the folds and drove the air out from under the picture.

I plastered the egg mosaic with diluted white acrylic paint and left to dry and went to sleep….

Utorm took a fresh look at the work done at night, eliminated some flaws and began to color. I mixed several colors by eye (white, blue, blue, black and dark green), adding each paint a little by eye, achieving maximum similarity to the background of the picture.

After the paint dried, the border of the drawing and the mosaic was decorated with a silver outline. I also walked between the shells.

Well, in the final, I covered all 4-5 layers of glossy acrylic varnish.

That's all my work. This is my first "large-scale" work. I am very worried, but ready for constructive criticism.

Just in case, we spray the picture with acrylic spray varnish to give strength to the paints. It is better to do this in the corridor - all aerosol varnishes that I have come across smell terrible =)

We are waiting for the varnish to dry (just a few minutes). Layering the picture. I do this with scotch tape.

The surface of the laptop is degreased, I do this with alcohol wipes sold at the pharmacy.

Next, we cover our laptop with an aerosol acrylic primer. You can take and not aerosol, and apply it with a regular brush, and after it dries - sand it with fine sandpaper, but the aerosol will lie smoother and better.

Personally, I really liked the Crafts spray primer aerosol primer (it just stands in the photo).
We are waiting for the soil to dry. Then we take a textured paste or liquid acrylic primer and paint over the convex emblem.

I usually apply liquid primer or paste with a stiff-bristled brush and then smooth with a flat trowel. We are waiting for the soil to dry, by the way, it will dry longer than aerosol. Before proceeding with further work, you need to make sure that everything is really dry, otherwise the wet soil can present many unpleasant surprises in the future.
Next, we paint our laptop with white acrylic paint, so that the color of the picture remains bright and the colors are not distorted. I usually paint small surfaces with a small piece of sponge, dipping it in paint and shaking off the excess on a plastic plate. But for large surfaces, it is much more convenient to use a foam roller, first with a push with it, and then slightly touching it to smooth out all the irregularities that have arisen.

We are waiting for the paint to dry well. Apply another layer of paint if necessary.
Next, we put our layered image on the file.

We smear it with glue, apply it to the laptop and iron it well with a rubber roller.

We remove the file.

If you are using a decoupage card, then it would be nice to also go from above with a brush with glue, but the printout colors often "float", so for our peace of mind, let's go only along the edges of the picture. This time I used Art Patch glue from Hobby line. At the moment, this glue suits me more than others =).

We are waiting for the glue to dry.

And then reads the most interesting and difficult thing - painting on the background. There are a couple of painting principles - from light to dark and vice versa - from dark to light. Never try to paint the background right away - white spots will remain, and it will look unnatural. I dipped a piece of sponge in a light shade of gray-blue, and "prochpokal" part of the background with it. This will be the "base":

We are waiting for all the paint to dry. It is very important that it dries out, otherwise it may peel off or begin to exfoliate later.
Next, we cover the work with several layers of acrylic varnish, with good drying of each layer, skin a little, and cover with a couple more layers. Optionally, decorate the edges of the laptop with monograms (in this case, I used a scrap stamp and antique gold acrylic paint).
The last one I like to finish is the matt sealant from Plaid (864).
