Instructions for installing the official single-file firmware on Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100, GT-N7105).

    Drivers and programs

Attention!

To install the official stock firmware on the Galaxy S3 and return the phone state ("Settings"> "About device"> "Properties"> "Device status") to "Official" after switching from custom firmware and thereby return the ability to receive updates over the air, it is enough follow the instructions provided.

Installation instructions

Unpack the downloaded archive into the Odin PC folder for convenience. The file in the ".tar" or ".tar.md5" format must be kept and "SS_DL.dll" can be deleted.

    Reset device data.
To do this, go to the settings on the tab “ Accounts "In the section" Archiving and reset", Select the item" Reset device"And press the button" Delete everything". The phone will restart.

    Run Odin PC as administrator.

Put the device into download mode ( Download Mode).
To do this, you must simultaneously hold down the Volume Down key, the Home button and the Power button. Then wait until the phone restarts and accept the warning by pressing the Volume Up key.

In this state, connect the smartphone to the computer. Odin should light up the inscription “ COM».

Press the button " AP»And select the TAR-archive of the firmware.

Items " Auto reboot" and " F.Reset Time" must be activated, a " Re-Partition", If active - must be disabled.

Press the button " Start". The process of installing the firmware will begin.

At the end of the operation, if everything went well, the message “All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0) ". The phone must be rebooted manually by holding down the power button until the screen turns off. The device may take up to 5 minutes to boot up for the first time.
    ATTENTION!
If the device does not boot for a long time or the data has not been reset, it must be performed from the recovery.
To do this, simultaneously hold down the Volume Up key, the Home button and the Power button. After downloading, select the item " Wipe data / Factory reset", and then - " Reboot system now". If after these steps the device also freezes at startup, you need to reflash it again.

Before flashing it will be better to familiarize yourself with the profile branch on w3bsit3-dns.com, because there is one big nuance in the firmware: the bootloader version.

In short, newer firmwares require new version bootloader, old - respectively, older. If this condition is not met, a special section (EFS) is overwritten in the smartphone, in which the Phone IMEI, so that the smartphone cannot use cellular network and turns into a tablet. As a solution, either restore the EFS section (unless, of course, you took care of the backup in advance), or flash a special modem that does not require IMEI (an anonymous dream, not otherwise), or service center for a lot of money, they change the fee itself.

In my case, I already had the latest available official firmware 4.4 installed, so the bootloader version was also “fresh”. That is, I should not have installed the old firmware versions, but I was not going to.

So let's get started.

In short, the whole process can be divided into the following stages

1) We flash the recovery

2) Making a full backup

3) We flash the required firmware

But it's worth spending a little time getting ready.

0. Preparatory work

In the process of flashing, we will need a few things that it is better to take care of in advance.

Odin- a special program for flashing smartphones, you have to install it on your computer.

Drivers for a smartphone - it is advised to use the latest available version.

Both Odin and the drivers are easy to find in the header.

Custom recovery... If I understood correctly, there are only two favorites here: TWRP and PhilZ-touch. I'll use . Since I'm going to sew the recovery through Odin, I will need it. tar file recovery.

Custom firmware... Here the choice is simply huge. I decided for myself that it is worth reflashing either on MIUI because of the beautiful and thoughtful interface, or on CyanogenMOD 12 (because today it is the only one available Lollipop firmware for Note 2, whereas in the stock android I am attracted only by Material design), or to Ditto Note, where most of the updated chips of the new TouchWiz and new generations of Galaxy Note were ported. But this, of course, is a matter of taste.

And, of course, a Windows computer and a micro-USB cable.

1. Recovery

Recovery is a special utility program that allows you to install firmware on a smartphone, and also performs a number of other important actions such as creating backups and cleaning unnecessary data. By and large, the smartphone always already has a recovery, but its capabilities are very limited by the manufacturer. Therefore, we need a modified recovery. As I said, I chose TWRP. Hope you have already downloaded the required .tar file.

So, turn off the phone, and then turn it on by simultaneously holding down the volume down keys, the center key and, in fact, the power button. A warning message will appear about the danger of modified firmware, but we have already decided everything, and therefore press the volume up - and the smartphone goes into firmware mode.

Now we run Odin as administrator and connect the smartphone to the computer. There is an opinion that starting with Windows 7 it is not necessary to install the drivers separately - they are supposedly found automatically. From my point of view, it will not be superfluous to install them separately - it will not take much time.

Odin will happily report that the phone was found in the left upper corner the port number to which the smartphone is connected will appear. On the port number, Odin will inform you that in this moment happens to the smartphone and what is the result of this or that operation. On the right side, select the AP button (this is if you are using Odin 3.09, in version 3.07 the same button is called PDA) and select the recovery file. Let me remind you once again that we need exactly the .tar file.

And click Start.

When the process is completed, the phone will automatically reboot. However, this is an option - the corresponding checkbox in the Odin settings can be disabled.

The important point is that at the first reboot, the regular recovery overwrites all other, therefore, it is extremely important to hold down the volume key combination when rebooting up, central key, power button (this is a standard key combination for TWRP, for other recovery it may differ). Let go of the keys when the model name appears on the screen. After that, TWRP should boot up, which will independently make the necessary changes so that the regular recovery does not overwrite anything else. If it does not work right after the first reboot, it boots into TWRP, you will have to flash through Odin one more time.

In principle, TWRP can be installed using the capabilities of a smartphone only, but you need a terminal and root. Instructions on - last section“Dd Install method”.

1.1. If you need root access on the original firmware.

To be honest, I never really understood why root in real life... Here are the geeks - they are yes, for them root on the phone is the first thing, without this Titanium backup does not work for them. For myself, I just can't think of why I need it in real life. Well, for example, if you decide to install custom recovery not through Odin.

If you believe the same w3bsit3-dns.com, then the most easy way get root on the latest official firmware- it .

In short, you need to download from http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/ a special file for specific model, and then flash it through Odin.

But I haven’t tried this method, so I can’t tell you anything more.

2. Making a backup

The most important thing to do after installing custom recovery is a backup, especially the EFS partition. This is the section where the phone's IMEI is stored. Its backup is done once, and the result is stored in a safe place. But if you often experiment with firmware, then nothing prevents you from including the EFS partition in the backup every time.

Be sure to select before starting the backup so that the result is saved not to the internal memory, but to the memory card. Most firmwares require preliminary deletion of all data from internal memory when installing, which will be fatal for backups. Before starting the backup, you can also choose what to include in it. As the first backup, I selected all the available options. But if I understand correctly, only EFS is not restored by the new firmware.

After completing the backup, I connected the smartphone to the computer and copied the resulting backup to a safe place, and copied the firmware file to the SD card.

3. Custom firmware

The firmware can be flashed both from a computer via Odin, and directly from a smartphone via recovery. Just note that for firmware via Odin you will need .tar file, while through the recovery you need to sew .zip.

As the firmware for the installation, I chose one that is actively developing formuchanin. main feature firmware - updated TouchWiz interface and ported proprietary chips from Note 3 and Note 4. I was flashing through the recovery.

To do this, turn off the smartphone, and then turn it on by holding the volume keys up, the center key and the power button. As soon as the model name appears on the screen, you can release it. After that, the smartphone will boot into TWRP recovery. Before starting the installation, it will not be superfluous to make Wipe in the section of the same name. Wipe in most cases is a guarantee of the stability of the custom firmware, therefore in some firmware there is an option to make Wipe before installation - the so-called “clean install” - clean install.

Then select Install and select desired file firmware, swipe to confirm the installation new firmware and follow the further instructions.

Similarly, you can install CyanogenMOD:.

4. Instead of a conclusion

The whole firmware process took, at most, half an hour. As a result, my Galaxy Note 2 has been transformed, receiving an updated TouchWiz interface with all basic programs and if not all, then most of the new proprietary tools that make working with the pen much more convenient.

I do not observe arbitrary application crashes, as I had on the stock firmware. The phone stopped rebooting by itself. Otherwise - no major changes. I was hoping that it would be better with batteries, but this question remains unchanged. True, this firmware has a root by default, which means you can use special programs to find out which applications are to blame for the increased consumption (here and the root will come in handy, yes).
