The latest Galaxy S10 leak is full of interesting details. Samsung Galaxy S10: smartphone preview When the Samsung Galaxy s10 comes out

Smartphone line Samsung Galaxy The S10 is revolutionary in some ways. This is not just a round serial number, but many technical solutions, albeit not always successful.

Galaxy S10, which is a mid-range device in lineup Samsung flagships of the tenth generation, has a triple camera with a resolution of 12, 12 and 16 megapixels with variable aperture and optical zoom.

The standard "ten" received a technology similar to that found in the Galaxy A7. the smartphone remained at the level of the Galaxy S10e, and the maximum gradation of the built-in storage increased to 512 GB. The smartphone display has a diagonal of 6.1 inches, Quad HD + resolution and a built-in fingerprint scanner.

There are four versions of this smartphone in total. The most interesting of these is the limited edition Galaxy S10 + with 1 TB of internal storage and 12 GB of RAM. True, it did not find a great response due to its high cost.

Ivan Kuznetsov 02/11/2020

For a long time, the fashion for stripped-down versions flagship smartphones supported only by Chinese manufacturers. In any case, they thought they supported her, because they were quite a walk-through model with a rather mediocre filling that provided them low price... And the only thing that made such devices in common with the flagships was the identical name, flavored with the specifying prefix Lite, so as not to cause confusion. There was nothing to find fault with here, because it was impossible just to take and release a smartphone with top-end hardware for half the money. Or is it possible?

Ivan Kuznetsov 03/02/2020

Once I already told,. Perhaps some of you will find my technique obvious or, on the contrary, senseless, but it has never let me down. Another thing is that it is mainly aimed at devices of the same generation, which are included in the same price category. Therefore, for those who, first of all, do not start from the price, from the practicality of this or that model, considering the devices of different years of production, it will not work. Bridging the gap with the example of last year and the new S20.

Ivan Kuznetsov 12/20/2019

Samsung was one of the first to launch simplified versions of flagship smartphones, trying to keep them as cheap as possible. True, in practice, it turned out that they had nothing from the flagships except the name, to which the Lite postscript was simply added, so such devices clearly did not suffer from excess power and functionality. Despite this, at first their sales went quite briskly, but over time, users began to realize that under the guise of a cheaper flagship they were slipping the usual budget model, and demand for them stopped until Apple started releasing "real" shareware flagships. It was then that Samsung decided to return to the forgotten concept.

Ivan Kuznetsov 11/27/2019

Despite the fact that performance has ceased to be a key indicator of the advancement of a smartphone, it still continues to grow, setting new records from year to year. It got to the point that the computing power of modern devices is close to that of average computers, but learning how to run games designed for desktop platforms, they never learned. Apparently, the more stringent requirements for graphics and processor architecture affect. But that doesn’t mean to run computer games on smartphones it is not possible at all. Can.

Bureaucracy, along with negligence, is one of the reasons for leaking information about upcoming new products, which their manufacturers would probably like to keep secret until the moment of release. But if in principle it is possible to somehow fight against negligence and unprofessionalism, then trying to defeat the bureaucracy is practically useless. Fighting her is like fighting a multi-headed monster. As soon as one head is cut off, a new and even more embittered one grows in its place. However, allegorical aside.

Ivan Kuznetsov 11.11.

Despite the identical feature set, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note have always been positioned as radically different. Samsung not only tried to spread their releases in time, separating one presentation from another by about six months, but also expanded the functionality of the Galaxy Note models in comparison with the Galaxy S. Those who were waiting for the maximum with bells and whistles were waiting for new phablets with pen support to enter the market. However, over time, Samsung has come to the conclusion that this kind of segregation does not play into its hands, and therefore began to release updates that equalize the functionality of both lines.

Tenth flagship Samsung and big changes.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 could be the most exciting phone of 2019, but only if the company makes some radical changes.

The range gave us some cool phones, but they didn’t reach 10 stars, so we are waiting for major changes that will help the manufacturer remain a leader in the face of fierce competition from companies like Apple and Huawei.

Not much is known about the Galaxy S10 at the moment, but we are already receiving the first rumors, some of which you can find below.

And below you will find a list of our wishes, including a fingerprint scanner built into the screen and new design... The good news is, if early rumors are to be believed, we might be getting at least one of these features.

In pursuit!

  • What is it? Next Samsung flagship;
  • What is the price? Traditionally, very expensive;
  • When to expect? Probably early 2019;

SAMSUNGGALAXYS10: RELEASE DATE

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is likely to launch in early 2019. More specifically, we would put on January, on CES exhibition 2019, there is already one rumor confirming this. The exhibition will take place from 8 to 11 January.

Otherwise, the smartphone could go on release at MWC 2019, as Samsung announced the Galaxy S9 range at MWC 2018.

Next year's show will take place between February 25-29, so mark the dates on your calendar if you would like to see the next S.

NextGalaxyS fromSamsung will most likely launch in early 2019.

Samsung doesn't always announce its Galaxy S flagships the same way, but latest models were unveiled in the early months of the year, so we'd be surprised not to find the Samsung Galaxy S10 until the end of March 2019. Of course, whenever a smartphone is announced by a manufacturer, it cannot be bought on the same day.

When the smartphone goes on sale, it will be expensive. There is no pricing information yet, but the Galaxy S9 started at $ 720 (£ 43,000), while the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus went on sale for $ 840 (£ 50,000), so we expect the Galaxy S10 range to be no less expensive. ...

SAMSUNGGALAXYS10: NEWS AND RUMORS

We haven't heard of the Samsung Galaxy S10 yet, but one thing that gets passed by word of mouth is the in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The latest report states that the manufacturer is using ultrasound scanner Qualcomm, in favor of the manufacturer is the fact that Vivo and Huawei have already shown their phones with similar scanners, Samsung will not want to lag behind.

This is also in line with an earlier rumor stating that until the in-screen scanner is ready for release, it will be ready next year, making the Samsung Galaxy S10 a prime candidate.

Analytical speculation is not always reliable, but it would be a smart decision if Samsung wants to compete with the iPhone's triple lens.

Three cameras can be better than two.

We've also heard that Samsung might rename the range, releasing the next model as the Samsung Galaxy X rather than the Galaxy S10. It may seem unlikely, but Ko Dong-Jin, head of Samsung's mobile division, put it this way: “We were thinking whether we should keep the S in the name or rely on the numbering system,” so it's possible.

There are also thoughts on what the Samsung Galaxy S10 will run on, as it reportedly could use an undeclared one (at least in some regions). This is said to be a 7nm chipset, which is smaller and probably more powerful and more efficient than what you'll find in most 2018 flagships.

It is believed that the 855 will be able to support theoretical download speeds up to 2 Gbps, while the Galaxy S9 is currently capped at 1.2 Gbps. However, don't expect to get close to these numbers in the real world. However, the update seems significant.

SAMSUNGGALAXYS10: WHAT DO WE WANT TO SEE?

Like the Samsung Galaxy S9, it promises to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8, so we hope Samsung fixes things up with the S10. This is what we want to see.

GALAXY S10: NEW DESIGN

Smartphone designSamsung is too well known at the moment.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 looks almost identical to the Galaxy S8, so it's time to get a new design from the South Korean company.

Whether it means a notch in the screen, new material or even a foldable smartphone, we look forward to Samsung and new ideas.

GALAXYS10: 2/3 CAMERAS ON BOTH MODELS

While the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has a dual camera setup, the standard Galaxy S9 only has one camera. With the new Galaxy S10, we want both models to have dual cameras, or better yet, triple cameras. After all, the Huawei P20 Pro has already offered a similar solution.

Samsung has been making great cameras for its smartphones for a long time, but this year it has a decent competitor in the face of Huawei, so with the Galaxy S10 we want to see some steps forward.

The good news is that there are already rumors of a triple-lens camera, although it's unclear if this will be the standard model or just the S10 Plus.

GALAXY S10: BUILT-IN FINGERPRINT SCANNER

Rear-facing scanners will soon disappear from high-end smartphones.

Rumors of an in-screen fingerprint scanner are spreading across phones and the Galaxy S10 is no exception, but now that other companies have released commercially available devices with this technology, we are awaiting a solution from Samsung.

The built-in scanner means that it doesn't have to take up a fraction of the screen real estate or position itself awkwardly on the back panel, and it looks high-tech, which will make other smartphone owners jealous.

GALAXYS10: PHOTOS BRIGHTER!

While the overall quality of the photos taken with the Samsung Galaxy S9 is extremely good, some lack stabilization, while others feel unnecessarily blurry in some shooting conditions. This is especially true when there is background lighting, so we reckon the Samsung Galaxy S10 can handle it better.

GALAXY S10: IMPROVEMENTAR EMOJI

AREmoji really need some update.

AR Emoji have been one of the most hyped features of the Galaxy S9, becoming one of the least impressive aspects of the phone in practice.

There are several reasons for this. Aside from their inherently awkward nature, it can be difficult to create emojis that look like you. When you record video using emoji, facial recognition just isn't effective enough to get it right.

While AR Emoji will probably never be an important feature, if Samsung continues to use them, we'd love to see them on par with Apple's Animoji.

GALAXYS10: RUNNING TIME

Time autonomous work- a parameter that does not grow with each new generation of phones. In fact, sometimes it gets worse. In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, you won't get more than a day of battery life.

While this is good enough for anyone who wants to charge their phone every night, remember that the battery will wear out over time, so the day of battery life when you buy a smartphone becomes less than a day after a year or two.

As such, we're really looking forward to improvements in the Galaxy S10's battery compartment, albeit through an increase in the battery, which was frankly small on the Galaxy S9 (3000mAh), although we'd be happy with the hardware and software efficiency improvements as well.

GALAXYS10: BOLT PANEL

We said before that we needed a new design from the Galaxy S10, but we would like it to be accompanied by a complete lack of panels. We don't want a cutout either, just a screen for the whole phone.

We are not expecting this, not least because this solution appears to involve the introduction of a camera and sensors into the screen panel, but it is possible and certainly less ambitious than the flexible smartphone that we also hope to receive from Samsung. in 2019.

The foldable is expected to be released in 2019.

The usual "tenth galaxy" is good. But the top-end Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus with a large 6.4-inch screen is even better. The novelty became the most technically advanced flagship of the spring of 2019 and the star of the international exhibition MWC 2019, although it was presented on February 20.

Key features of the Galaxy S10 Plus became known back in the fall thanks to several major leaks. From them, we learned that the smartphone has finally received an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, a triple main camera and a built-in storage based on UFS 3.0 flash memory with increased read and write speed.

Not without small regrets. For example, support for fifth-generation networks is provided by only one modification of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus 5G, which will not be sold in all countries. Also, the new product does not use the high-speed LPDDR5 RAM, since the manufacturers of mobile chipsets have postponed its implementation.

But the new "ten with a plus" will delight its owners with the latest version of Android 9.0 Pie "out of the box" with the One UI shell, a dual selfie camera with phase detection autofocus, a 4100 mAh high-capacity battery, and the top-end modification of the Galaxy S10 Plus 12 Gb RAM + 1 Tb Flash.

At the same time, unlike most competitors, the Galaxy S10 + retains such useful options as the ability to install microSD memory cards and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Blindly imitating Apple, many smartphone manufacturers have abandoned them. But not everything that Cupertino comes up with is worth copying.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus release date

Playing ahead of the curve, Samsung postponed the presentation of the Galaxy S10 Plus and other modifications of the "dozen" to February 20. The novelties were presented during the Galaxy UNPACKED 2019 special event, which took place in San Francisco. The start took place at 11 am (10 pm Moscow time)

It is worth noting that the initial announcement of the Galaxy S10E, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus was expected a little later - on the "zero" day of the exhibition, which was held in Barcelona from February 25th to February 28th. Of course, all three flagships also arrived there, and they could be touched "live" at the company's stand.

Mobile World Congress Pavilion, Guest Registration

The ability to pre-order came immediately after the announcement of the Galaxy S10 Plus. Application deadlines vary from country to country. So, in Russia, retail sales are launched on March 8. Accordingly, those wishing to receive as a gift wireless headphones Galaxy Buds are due for this date.

Issue price

The cost of Samsung flagships has been growing for the past three years, so the new Galaxy S10 Plus will have to shell out a fairly round sum. In Russia, the price of a basic modification of a smartphone with 6 Gb of RAM and 128 Gb of built-in memory will be as much as 76,990 rubles.

For comparison - last year the cost of the Galaxy S9 Plus at the time of the start of retail sales was 69,990 rubles. Thus, the new flagship will cost 7,000 rubles (a little more than $ 100). However, if we compare prices with pegging to the dollar exchange rate, then the rise in price turns out to be not so significant:

  • The dollar exchange rate as of February 25, 2018 is 56.7608 rubles / dollar
  • The dollar exchange rate on February 19, 2019 is 66.0532 rubles / dollar

The total drop in the ruble rate was about 16.37%, while the price of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus in terms of the dollar increased by only 10%. So the Koreans are still acting quite humanely towards Russia. We recommend reading more about the cost of the "tenth galaxy" on the Russian market in.

A separate point is the price for the top-end modification of the Galaxy S10 Plus in a ceramic case, which has 12 Gb of RAM and a built-in "flash drive" with a capacity of a terabyte. It is officially sold in Russia for 124,990 rubles, that is, almost at the cost of a used car.

Design and ergonomics

Compared to previous years Samsung significantly revised its views on how a modern flagship should look like. Moreover, the company has already been repeatedly reproached for a conservative approach inappropriate for the market leader. And yet the Koreans took the criticism into account.

First, the Galaxy S10 Plus and its siblings have become truly frameless smartphones. Of course, Samsung could not go for copying the notorious "monobrow" Apple iPhone X. Moreover, it was decided to abandon the small teardrop-shaped cutout for the "frontal".

Instead, a small hole was made in the upper right corner of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus for the camera. Such a solution really looks like an original one and will clearly become an example to follow. How convenient it is remains to be seen in practice.

Secondly, as noted at the very beginning, the Galaxy S10 Plus's fingerprint scanner is built right into the screen. Samsung was very slow to develop this decision... They were waiting for him, in fact, for two whole years. However, it has finally come true, which is good news.

The rest of the S10 looks similar to its predecessors: curved edge edges, a back cover made of shock-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 6 glass, four mechanical buttons (one for power, two for volume and one for launch voice assistant), the upper location of the tray for SIM-cards and MicroSD, the lower one - the USB Type-C connector, 3.5 mm jack and the main speaker.

The color range of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has been compared to its predecessor. In total, there are seven options available in the world, two of which (more expensive) have a ceramic back cover... Only five colors are available in Russia and the CIS countries.

Opportunity overview

Iron

Traditionally, Samsung produces flagships based on both mobile processors of its own design from the Exynos line, and uses finished products from Qualcomm. In the case of the Galaxy S10 Plus, it turned out to be the Exynos 9820 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (SDM855).

The Exynos 9820 central processor has an interesting three-cluster architecture, which has not been previously seen in Samsung chipsets:

  • First cluster: 2 x Mongoose M4 Custom Core @ 2.80 GHz
  • Second cluster: 2 x ARM Cortex-A75 @ 2.00 GHz (?)
  • Third cluster: 4 x ARM Cortex-A55 @ 1.80 GHz (?)

Due to such a distribution of computing cores, it is possible to achieve an optimal balance between performance and energy saving. True, as tests have shown, the overall performance of the Exynos 9820 is inferior to the Snapdragon 855. Apparently due to not the most modern ARM Cortex-A75 cores.

It is possible that the reason for this lies in a completely different - 8 nanometer process technology. For comparison, Qualcomm is releasing the Snapdragon 855 over the new 7nm. And the finer the technological process, the higher the productivity. Either way, Samsung has a lot of work to do.

The Snapdragon 855 itself is also a rather curious chip. So, its processor cores are distributed as follows:

  • 1 x Kryo 485 @ 2.84 GHz
  • 3 x Kryo 485 @ 2.42 GHz
  • 4 x Kryo 485 @ 1.80 GHz

Unlike Samsung, Qualcomm has all eight cores - custom Kryo 485, which allows for maximum computing speed if you can use them simultaneously. The Adreno 640 graphics accelerator does a great job with any gaming applications, although in synthetic tests Exynos is slightly ahead.

Note that while promoting the Exynos 9820 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, the main focus is on hardware acceleration of computations associated with machine learning. In general, the topic of artificial intelligence is trending now, although in practice the performance of the CPU and GPU is still much more important.

As noted, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has not received support for the new LPDDR5 RAM. The transition to it, apparently, will happen only in 2020. And now you will have to be content with an overclocked LPDDR4x with a clock frequency of 2133 MHz.

Galaxy S10 Plus is presented in three modifications, differing in the amount of RAM and built-in storage:

  • 6 Gb RAM + 128 Gb Flash
  • 8 Gb RAM + 512 Gb Flash
  • 12 Gb RAM + 1 Tb Flash (Premium Edition)

In all cases, the new fast memory UFS 3.0 is used, and the possibility of installing microSD memory cards is also retained. The maximum supported volume of the latter is 512 Gb. Dual SIM modifications of Galaxy S10 Plus have a hybrid slot, so if you want to install both a memory card and a pair of SIM cards, you will have to.

Display

About some characteristics Samsung screen The Galaxy S10 Plus has already been mentioned above. The Koreans increased the diagonal by 0.2 inches and changed the aspect ratio by 9 to 19. Thus, the resolution was 1440 × 3040 pixels (Wide QHD +). Of course, without taking into account the hole for the front camera.

The type of matrix you can not even guess - this is exactly the beloved by Samsung AMOLED, but new version Dynamic. At the moment, this technology is gaining more and more popularity, and even Apple itself ties up with IPS and Retina Display by ordering display modules from the South Korean giant.

Other parameters of the Galaxy S10 Plus screen: curved side edges of Edge, which have been a characteristic attribute of Samsung flagships since 2015, impact-resistant tempered glass Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and a built-in ultrasonic fingerprint scanner (it will be discussed separately).

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus display proudly carries the Infinity O Display trademark, which indicates that the curved edges make it feel like it extends into infinity. And the letter O - for the presence of a hole.

Communication and communications

mobile connection

As the main feature of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, support for fifth-generation networks was expected here. However, only one modification of the smartphone will "make friends" with 5G, and it will not be available in countries at all. The reasons are clear - the implementation of the new standard will take a long time.

In the case of the flagship variants based on Snapdragon 855, the work with 5G networks is provided by the Qualcomm X50 modem, in the case of the Exynos versions - Samsung's own development. In principle, the top version of the Galaxy S10 Plus is quite suitable for the role of a smartphone "for growth", so for its support of the fifth generation is relevant.

But even with 4G networks new samsung The Galaxy S10 Plus is vastly superior to its predecessors. So, the flagship supports LTE Category 20 DL / 20 UL aggregation, due to which the download speed increases to 2000 Mbit / s, and the transmission speed - up to 316 Mbit / s.

Depending on the region, the S10 Plus differs in the number of SIM card slots. For example, the devices sold in the US are physically "single-symbol", but a second virtual slot of the e-SIM type is expected (the technology is allowed for commercial use in a few countries so far).

WiFi

One of the highly anticipated features of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is support not only for the IEEE 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac suite, but also for the new IEEE 802.11ax standard, which is also often called Wi-Fi 6. Unlike IEEE 802.11ad, it does not require licensing of new frequencies, but an appropriate router is needed.

Benefits of Wi-Fi 6:

  • The maximum possible data rate is 40% faster than IEEE 802.11ac (WiFi 5).
  • Wi-Fi 6 enabled devices are more energy efficient. This is achieved due to the fact that Wi-Fi router 6 informs the client when data exchange is required. The rest of the time, the client (for example, a smartphone) is in a "sleeping" state.
  • Under heavy load conditions, as well as the intersection of signals from many points (as in public places), Wi-Fi 6 theoretically allows you to achieve best quality communication.

Skeptics say that the transition to IEEE 802.11ax will take at least a couple of years, so you shouldn't be particularly happy about the support of this feature in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus.

Other points

As for other communication capabilities, it is worth mentioning the full support for Samsung Pay (both via NFC and using MST, that is, emulation of magnetic tape), Bluetooth 5.0, the presence of a classic 3.5 mm headphone jack and a USB Type-C port. capable of transferring data in USB 3.1 mode.

Cameras

The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is triple. Thanks to the use of modules with different lenses, it allows you to shoot scenes of almost any nature: landscapes and architecture at a wide angle, portraits and macro, and on occasion - to bring the subject closer due to the presence of a telephoto lens.

  • First module: 12.0 Mp, aperture f / 1.5-2.4, focal length 26 mm, matrix diagonal 1 / 2.55 inches, pixel size 1.4 μm, support for Dual Pixel, phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization
  • Second module: 12.0 Mp, f / 2.4, focal length 52 mm, matrix diagonal 1 / 3.6 inches, 1.0 μm, contrast autofocus, optical image stabilization, 2x zoom
    Third module: 16.0 Mp, f / 2.2, 12mm focal length, 2x zoom

In general, these parameters look far from being as impressive as in the case of the latest flagship camera phones from the Chinese company Huawei, like the Mate 20 Pro and X. However, we know that transcendental megapixels do not guarantee high quality photography at all.

The Galaxy S10 Plus selfie camera is also unique in its kind. On the one hand, nowadays nobody will be surprised with a double front-facing camera. However, it supports phase detection autofocus, which, in principle, is almost never found in other manufacturers. So Samsung has a chance of winning the camera phone battle this spring.

Sensors and biometrics

Due to significant changes in the design of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus compared to its predecessors, its creators had to abandon the iris scanner IRIS. Despite the fact that it really provides high level safety, in practice it is not always convenient to use it.

Fingerprint module. In principle, today you will not surprise anyone with a fingerprint scanner built into the display: several smartphones received this at once. However, in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, it is not optical, but ultrasonic, which significantly improves both reliability and convenience.

The face scanner is based on the front camera and uses algorithms machine learning to recognize the owner of the smartphone. In this regard, the Galaxy S10 Plus will not be much different from its predecessors. Apparently, Samsung does not see the need for complex 3D scanners like the latest flagships from Apple, Huawei and Lenovo.

Autonomy

Good news for potential buyers of the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus: the new flagship has a 4100 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is significantly larger than the Galaxy S9 +. Apparently, the Koreans have finally recovered from their fear after the Note 7's explosive battery.

One full charge of the Galaxy S10 Plus battery is expected to last for a day or even a whole day and a half. So, “dates with the outlet” will have to be carried out much less frequently. And in order to keep them flowing as quickly as possible, an advanced 15W fast charging technology will be provided.

And if you prefer the technology of tomorrow, then you will definitely love the support for fast wireless charging according to the Qi and PMA standards. With Samsung's proprietary 15-watt adapters, battery recharge speeds are as fast wirelessly as wirelessly.

Software

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and simpler variants of the "tenth galaxy" became the first smartphones of the company, which "out of the box" received the most recent version of Android 9.0 Pie with the new One UI shell, which replaced Experience. As voice assistant proprietary Bixby acts (but its on Google Assistant if desired).

As in the case of previous models of the line, Galaxy firmware S10 Plus contain the region code. So if you want to activate Samsung Pay contactless payments on your smartphone released for another country, you can often limit yourself to uploading the firmware of the desired region through Odin.

Equipment

Basic delivery of the "tenth galaxy" is minimalistic

  1. Smartphone: 1
  2. AKG Wired Headset: 1
  3. Fast Charge Charger: 1
  4. SIM Tray Extractor: 1
  5. USB Type-C cable: 1

Summary

If you are planning to buy yourself a new mobile phone in the next six months, then the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus is an excellent candidate for this role. This flagship will support a range of technologies of tomorrow and will be the perfect smartphone for growth.

Its only real drawback is the high price (that is, that is). However, when you buy the S10 Plus, you get the device for at least two years. It is during this period that Samsung is actively releasing updates with the transition to new versions of Android.

The Galaxy S10 and presumably the S10 + promise to be the most interesting Samsung phones in years. And there are at least two reasons for this. Firstly, the Galaxy S9 sold poorly, as they did not offer anything interesting, and the company needs to rehabilitate itself. Secondly, in 2019, the anniversary smartphone Samsung Galaxy S10 will be presented - the tenth generation of the flagship, which is bound to be truly revolutionary.

We expect the smartphone to have an under-screen fingerprint scanner, 3D face recognition, three or four main cameras and a new processor. Also, we will definitely see a completely frameless design, which we have been waiting for a long time. Read more about what the Samsung Galaxy S10 will be like below in our preview.

Design

It's possible that one version of the Samsung Galaxy S10 (possibly the S10 Mini) may not have a built-in fingerprint sensor. According to the editors of SamMobile, a more budget version of the Galaxy is also preparing for release, where the fingerprint recognition sensor is on the side edge.

The housing is protected from water and dust according to the IP68 standard. At the back we will see the familiar glass cover. The number of cameras located on it remains a mystery. In light of recent events, it is possible that there will be four modules: the main, wide-angle, telephoto lens with two- or three-fold zoom, as well as a black-and-white module or a separate sensor for determining the depth of field.

The phone will not lose a headphone minijack, it will have stereo speakers and a USB Type-C charging port. The opportunity to expand internal memory smartphone.

In September general manager Samsung DJ Koh has revealed that the Galaxy S10 will come in an "astonishing" range of color options. We will find out what the Koreans have prepared for us when the device comes out.

Display

The larger version of the Galaxy S10 will be equipped with a 6.2- or 6.3-inch display, while the smaller one will have a 5.8-inch display. Super AMOLED matrices are expected, as in the previous "Galaxies".

In March 2018, Samsung patents surfaced containing blueprints of a smartphone with 99% of the front panel occupied by the display. In this case, the front camera can be under the screen, or be in a special pull-out module, like in Vivo NEX. Obviously, the developers also hid the sensors under the glass.

There is no doubt that the screen will be great, as in previous models it was their calling card. The brightness will be enough, the viewing angles should also please us. The picture will probably remain the same oversaturated, but the color rendition can be adjusted in the system settings.

Sound and communication

The company will continue to install stereo speakers. They will most likely be developed in collaboration with Samsung's Harman Kardon Corporation. Recall that in the Galaxy S9, the sound was one of the best of all smartphones. The C10 will have an audio jack, and support for aptX HD and LDAC is expected to improve the sound in wireless headphones.

Developers will install NFC, which works in Russia and other CIS countries. There is speculation that the S10 version will be released with support for 5G networks, but there is little confirmation of this information.

Firmware

So far, we know almost nothing about what the company will implement in the new operating system, but we have several leaks and assumptions.

For starters, Samsung's 2019 flagship will almost certainly ship with Android 9.0 P. We also expect to see a major update to Bixby as Samsung acquired Viv, a startup created by the founders of Siri. We hope that this helper will finally be useful.

It's also possible that the Galaxy S10 will have improved activity and health tracking software. According to the recently published Let’s Go Digital patent, Samsung is working on an app that detects your skin type and can offer guidelines for limiting sun exposure.

We really hope that Samsung will work on the smoothness of the firmware, because their smartphones on Exynos sometimes managed to lag more than state employees from Meizu. Will appear dark theme and the DEX mode will also improve, which still works well.

Cameras

Samsung will install at least three lenses on the rear panel. There is no doubt about that. But why settle for three rear lenses? Insiders report that Samsung will add a second front lens to improve portrait mode performance.

Engineers will install completely new modules into the novelty (their characteristics are not yet known). The main one will be focused on improving the quality of the photo in low light. Perhaps we will be shown a 48-megapixel sensor. Telephoto (2x or 3x zoom) and wide-angle (120 degrees) lenses should also have OIS.

As for the video, there should be improvements in the aspect of stabilization. Improved HDR video technology is not excluded, because something needs to be answered Smart functions HDR provided by Apple. Also, thanks to the new processors, recording at 4K 120 FPS, 1080p 960 FPS or even 8K 30 FPS can be realized, which, of course, is unlikely.

There will be two cameras in front. It is unclear what improvements this will bring, as the blur works very well without an auxiliary sensor. Perhaps the company will offer new functionality, redesigned Animoji and other buns, selfie chips based on the work of AI.

Performance

Samsung announced in February that it had invested $ 5.6 billion in a new plant to build 7nm chipsets. Qualcomm also recently released the first Snapdragon 855 samples using this process technology and sent them to vendors for testing.

Obviously, the international version of the Galaxy S10 will be equipped with an Exynos 9820 processor, and the American version with a Snapdragon 855. Samsung's processor configuration is not yet known, but there is no doubt that the new Cortex-A76 cores that are already in the Kirin 980 will be used there. the corporation will not abandon the big.LITTLE architecture, where there will be four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores and 4 high-performance Cortex-A76 cores. But there is news that the SoC will have three clusters built on the 4 + 2 + 2 principle, not 4 + 4. The Mali-G76 should be responsible for the graphics.

It is imperative that Samsung will fit new LPDDR5 memory on the board and install UFS 3.0 storage, which will significantly increase the phone's performance. UFS 3.0, in particular, consumes less power, processes requests faster, and behaves more consistently at high temperatures. LPDDR5 has more fast speed Reading and writing will allow new content to be used, such as creating clips in 8K.

In synthetic tests AnTuTu and Geekbench, the gain should be significant. However, there are big questions about the stability of such a powerful phone, since the corporation simply may not implement high-quality heat dissipation and power supply.

Autonomy

We are waiting for an increase in the speed of the devices. Moreover, the battery capacity may change slightly or remain the same, but the energy efficiency of the components will lead to the fact that the phone can be used for longer without recharging.

Charging should be faster thanks to Qualcomm's new Quick Charge and updated technology in the Exynos 9820 SoC. Wireless charging will remain on board.

date of release

Expect new mobile phone will be announced at next year's Mobile World Congress, which kicks off on February 25th. The exact release date has not yet been disclosed. If Samsung sticks to a similar plan for the S10 as it did for the S9, the phone will hit stores in mid-March 2019.

The price is not mentioned anywhere. Given the number of innovations and the price tag for Apple products, Koreans can ask for at least $ 900, or even $ 1000 for the younger version of the flagship.

Outcome

If everything goes, as leaks and analyst reviews say, then we will see chic smartphones S10, S10 Plus and, possibly, S10 Mini, which have been waiting for a long time, but Apple and Samsung did not want to show them to us this year, rolling out the flagships. In the tenth "Galaxy" we will see a scattering of innovations that are really important for us as users and for the industry as a whole.

We have been waiting for real framelessness for a long time, and it is already close. New processor also opens up wide opportunities for working with AR, video recording, photo production. Therefore, we hope that we will see these and other changes early next year in the Samsung Galaxy S10.

Announced in February, the Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip all came out with One UI 2.1, while the rest are running software version 2.0. It is reported that other flagships of the brand will soon be updated to One UI 2.1.

News archive

Not so long ago, Mobile World Congress 2018 took place, where the new flagship of the company, the Galaxy S9, was presented. However, users did not have time to study all the features of the new item, as they are already eager to know everything about the future of the Samsung Galaxy S10. There are already a lot of rumors and all kinds of leaks on the network, but we will try to find out what is true and what is fake.

First of all, it is worth paying attention to the rumor about solid-state batteries in the next generation devices. According to technical parameters, such batteries have an increased energy capacity in a smaller size, and also do not overheat or explode, unlike conventional lithium ion batteries... Despite all the brilliance of the development, the introduction of such a battery in the Samsung S10 may slightly slow down the release date of the smartphone. According to the company, the developers have not yet fully explored all the nuances of the technology.

It is also known that the company intends to move away from the Galaxy S name in a different direction. At the moment, there are speculations that the new flagship will be called Galaxy X or some similar name. Obviously, this is due to the new design that the future smartphone will have.

Galaxy S10 release date

By tradition, all devices of the Galaxy S line will be presented at Mobile World Congress, which takes place in the first quarter. Accordingly, the future flagship should be expected no earlier than the period from January to March next year.

Samsung Galaxy S10 will be officially presented on February 20, 2019.

Dee Jay Koh, who is the head of the mobile division of the Korean company, said that most likely, the name of the future "Galaxy" will be slightly changed. It should be noted that the line itself will remain called Galaxy, but its one-letter name “S” will be replaced with something else.

Samsung has already taken a similar decision in the case of the line budget smartphones Galaxy A, when all the available Core, Prime, Mini and other brothers were combined into one "A". It looks like now is the time to change the name of the flagship smartphones. Let's hope that with the new name the smartphone will get a new look.

Again, do not forget the possible delay in the official release of the Galaxy S10 due to the introduction and testing of a new type of batteries. The company certainly doesn't want a repeat of the old battery exploding incident.

Specifications Samsung Galaxy S10

Exact specifications Galaxy S10 is still unknown, however, there are already a lot of leaks and insights about the screen, processor, camera, RAM and some features. We invite you to familiarize yourself with them.

  • Screen- 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED
  • CPU- 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon of the latest generation at the time of launch of the smartphone (presumably Snapdragon 855).
  • Camera- main (18 megapixels), front (10 megapixels, dual with optical stabilization and phase detection autofocus).
  • RAM- 6 GB, memory type - LPDDR5.
  • Main memory- 64, 256 or 512 GB.
  • Battery- ~ 3800 mAh.
  • Networks- 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G (600-700 MHz).

At the moment, that's all that is known. However, even this list is not accurate, so take everything with a grain of salt. But, having this list, it is worth considering in detail each item, as well as some of the specifications of the future flagship.

Screen

In a future smartphone, we expect a 4K Ultra HD Super AMOLED display that will cover at least 93% the entire front panel of the device. In addition, Samsung continues to spread rumors about a patent for a flexible display that will apparently be used in the Galaxy S10.

The point is that the new "Galaxy" can acquire a screen that will cover the front, one side and part of the rear panel. The display itself will be made in a single form factor, which, according to the design idea, should “envelop” the smartphone. The corresponding photos are already on the Internet.

A similar idea has already been implemented in the Meizu Pro 7, which has 2 displays. The second screen is for displaying notifications and hours. In addition, the rear Meizu display The Pro 7 has found its way into a selfie mirror. However, the rear screen was separate and not a single whole with the bezel, but the developers' idea turned out to be quite interesting. We hope that Samsung will be able to bring the flexible display patent into practice, and the Samsung S10 will become a truly revolutionary and new device in every sense.

Processor, RAM, network

As befits all flagships, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 will have the most top characteristics to satisfy all user requests. It is expected that the heart of the device will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 series, made by 7nm process technology... This processor will be developed by Qualcomm in cooperation with Samsung specialists.

The amount of RAM and user memory is still only a guess. Obviously, the user will be allocated about 256 GB for storing applications, photos, videos and other multimedia data. Perhaps there will be a version of the smartphone with 512 GB of memory on board. It is not known exactly how much RAM the future Galaxy S10 will have. However, Samsung plans to use chips with LPDDR5 type, which are significantly superior to the current LPDDR4.

It is also known that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will definitely support 5G generation networks. This network allows data transmission with a maximum latency of 1 millisecond at a speed of 15 GB / s. It should be noted that MTS, Megafon, Beeline and Tele2 are actively working on the 5G network in Russia. A record has already been set in which the operation of a new generation network has been tested - Huawei smartphone using 5G from Megafon reached a speed of 35 GB / sec.

Note that 4G reaches a maximum speed of 1 GB / s with a 10 millisecond latency. Presumably, the Russians will be able to enjoy the new speed no earlier than mid-2018.

Design

What will make the Samsung S10 stand out from the crowd? Chinese copies? That's right, a design that will surpass all critics' expectations. If the Korean experts, nevertheless, call a new Galaxy smartphone X, then it should clearly outperform its direct competitor, the iPhone X.

Given that the future device will have a curved display, which was written about earlier, you can roughly imagine a new design. It should be a monolithic block with curved side bezels like the Galaxy S9; the screen occupies almost the entire front panel - at least 93%; from the front, the display goes through one side frame to the rear panel; no buttons other than the power / lock key.

Battery

When it comes to battery capacity, Samsung devices have no complaints. All-day battery life active use devices - 4G, games, viewing and shooting 4K video and prolonged use of the device at maximum display brightness, which should significantly “exhaust” the smartphone.

However, recently, Korean experts have been actively working on a new, solid-state type of batteries. This is evidenced by all sorts of reports, as well as news from Samsung. The plans of the developers include the introduction of new batteries into their wearable gadgets, and then the mass production of solid-state batteries for electric cars. According to experts, this will increase the charge capacity, while the dimensions of the battery will be quite compact.

For the future Galaxy S10, this is at least another couple of hours of work and minus a couple of centimeters in the thickness of the device. However, there is no exact data on this yet. Therefore, we can only hope for the success of the developers for the release of the smartphone.

Galaxy S10 features

Design, screen and new processor alone will not be able to win the top sales. Therefore, Samsung Galaxy S10 simply must have its own characteristics. Everyone knows that Samsung has been working on introducing a fingerprint scanner into the device's display for a long time. However, so far it has not been possible to achieve the desired result. According to critics, by the release of the Galaxy S10, Korean developers should complete work on the in-display fingerprint scanner.

In addition, do not forget that Samsung has not yet presented its analogue of Face ID technology, which is popular with iPhone X users. The iris and face scanner, even in simultaneous tandem, does not provide the comfort of use that Apple provides. ... Comparing the security of Face ID and Samsung's face and iris scanner simply doesn't make sense - alas, the fruitful winner is clear.

Also, there is information that the Samsung S10 will hide speakers under its display - both spoken and stereo. This is evidenced by data from Samsung, which speaks of a new development of the company's specialists. Judging by the experts' opinion, when the right approach developers, the result should come out with a “wow” effect. In this case, the maximum volume of the device should not be affected. We hope that everything will be successful in Korean laboratories.

Despite the demands of users to make the future flagship extremely frameless, the company still faces some difficulties even at the concept stage. In particular, by abandoning the bezels, the device runs the risk of being left without room for the front camera. According to experts, in order to position the camera matrix for selfies, at least 3-5 millimeters must be allocated at the top of the device. Accordingly, the Galaxy S10 will not be so bezel-less. At least at the top, for sure.

The solution to this problem could be a mechanical retractable front camera module. However, Korean experts cut it off at the concept stage, explaining that with such a module, the risk of device breakdowns increases. In addition, it is absurd to introduce something mechanical into a new product while more and more people are rejecting it all over the world.

We left the most interesting for dessert. Perhaps the S10 will implement a revolutionary single-chip system of work in a single bundle of a processor, a graphics module and a neural network chip. Such a module will significantly speed up the operation of the entire system, as well as its overall performance and efficiency. The work of specialists on this technology is most closely watched by critics and tech bloggers.

Samsung Galaxy S10 price in Russia and in the world

Taking into account all the features of development, new components and production costs, the cost of the Samsung Galaxy S10 in Russia should start at 56,990 rubles. For other CIS countries, it may traditionally slightly increase due to local legal peculiarities. However, it is unlikely that it will be higher than $ 1,100 in equivalent.
