If you are out of the way with the majority, it is not a fact that you are moving in the wrong direction. You just have your own opinion, and its dissimilarity from the point of view of your neighbor makes you unique. When choosing a phone, we observe something similar - when the device is needed exclusively for calls, why turn towards the shelves with expensive smartphones, if in the foreseeable future they will definitely not become companions. It seems that presenting Nokia 230 and its dual-sim sibling Nokia 230 Dual SIM, Microsoft was not aiming to impress anyone, but expressed its desire to move towards truly mass demand.
To simplicity with respect
What good thing does it seem to be offered for $ 55? But in fact, true practicality never appealed to the size of the wallet. Nokia 230 is no exception in this regard. What is the excellent protection of the model from mechanical impact provided by a metal, namely aluminum version back cover? It is already known that the choice of body colors is limited to a couple of combinations: black-gray and white-gray.
Autonomous "chaos"
The keypad is still the ideal telephone for many, but that's not all. A special dignity Nokia 230 the battery life appears. With an unpretentious 1200 mAh capacity by modern standards, the battery can last up to 27 days without recharging. In this you can find a minus, because during this time about the place of stay charger you can completely forget. Let's clarify that during a conversation, the reserve is enough for 23 hours, and if you go through life exclusively with a song (AAC and MP3), then you are provided with 52 hours of audio and no power outlet.
And vision is normal, and the screen is nothing
In addition to this, our "simpleton" is equipped with two cameras with the same resolution - 2 megapixels each. Both simple modules work with the support of photo flashes, which affects the quality of images only for the better. The only pity is that they lack autofocus. For gadgets of this class the size of the QVGA-display is 2.8 inches, 320x240p, which can be safely called large. The sensory layer is, of course, absent in it.
Memory resources and content
Block random access memory small - 16 MB, for putting a microSD card in the slot, general possibilities memorization increases to 32 GB.
Nokia 230 similar to Nokia 230 Dual SIM, only supports 2G networks. The device has Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM technology, MP3, video player, flashlight, FM radio. The factory set of software includes Opera Mini, Bing search engine, GroupMe by Skype messenger, etc. The weight of the metallized novelty is almost 92 grams.
We are looking forward to the appearance of the phone not only in the Asian markets, but also in Russia!

As practice shows, not only modern touchscreen smartphones with big screen and running on Android, WP or iOS OS. Another category of phones does not go out of fashion either - with keys, a simple "glass" display and compact dimensions. We will talk about just one of these devices today.
Meet, before you a product developed by Microsoft in conjunction with their subsidiary corporation Nokia. The phone has a composite image of the once popular Nokia models equipped with physical keyboard, which is why it was released under this brand. For more information on what keyboard phone developers have to offer their customers, read this article.
Positioning
To tell you the truth, the development of a phone with a physical keyboard in the age of advanced touch technology is an unexpected step even for Nokia. No, we remember the very successful 6300 line and the like, but today the release of such a model looks unusual.
The phone, apparently, was created in order to replace the niche of simple, affordable, but reliable devices. Now they are still in demand, and the Nokia 230 Dual SIM, which we are reviewing today, is obviously designed to meet that demand.
The gadget is relatively inexpensive - about $ 50. Due to this, it is already more profitable than some competing devices from the same niche. Its huge plus is the fact that it is a product of the glorious Nokia, which clearly has the most valuable experience in promoting keyboards among other companies. All this is the basis for positioning the device as an affordable, but functional smartphone.
Appearance
The phone design is nothing new. Nokia 230 Dual SIM (Black and White - two available colors) has a classic look: a candy bar with a keypad visually separated in the lower segment of the case and a screen in the upper one. The display here, by the way, visually seems larger than it actually is, due to the thick bezel painted in a dark color.
The “segmentation” logic we see on the front side Nokia Asha 230 Dual SIM continues at the back. There, the top and bottom of the case are painted in the same color, and the battery compartment cover (made of brushed metal) is slightly darker, due to which it creates a contrast. All this, if I may say so, “composition” looks quite attractive. You really want to hold your phone in your hands and use it over and over again.
Navigation here is implemented according to the classic scheme, worked out on the older generations of Nokia "keyboards" - here you can see a recessed cross-shaped joystick.
Display
The screen has a low resolution (especially in comparison with modern gadgets) at 240 by 320 pixels. This is quite enough for working with a device with a physical keyboard: it is easy to navigate on it in menus, contact lists, and messages. And although the physical size of the display is only 2.8 inches, visually it seems much taller (due to the dark inserts described at the beginning of the article).
Also, regarding the screen, it should be noted its energy efficient mode of operation. We learned about it only after getting acquainted with technical characteristics, however, his presence is confirmed by reviews. Nokia 230 Dual SIM is a highly optimized phone that can work for a long time on a single charge.
Camera
Like other keyboards designed by Nokia, the 230 has two cameras for both taking simple pictures and taking selfies. The resolution of both sensors is 2 megapixels, each of them is paired with a powerful LED flash, taking photos even in low light.
Of course, the quality of the images leaves much to be desired against the background of the 8-megapixel matrices that have become familiar to us; however, take some basic photos from the rest for placement in in social networks they can.
Connection
Those who developed mobile phone Nokia 230 Dual SIM (Silver) understood that this device would be primarily used as a reliable means of communication. The user here pays attention to the quality of the connection and conversation, so the phone perfectly keeps the signal and works in the current GSM-connection standards. Also worth noting is the ability to work with two SIM cards. It is available in one of two device variations: there is a Nokia 230 Dual SIM phone, and there is basic version without a Dual SIM prefix, indicating the presence of one SIM card slot. There is no need to explain once again that it is the “binary” version that is popular, which allows you to use the communication services of two operators at once.
Memory
Do not think that Nokia 230 Dual SIM (which we are reviewing) is a “brick” that does not support smartphone functionality. In fact, this model also has a huge number of possibilities. Take, for example, the presence of memory card support.
According to the documentation, built-in here offers 6 GB of free space for the functioning of the system, as well as installing some programs and downloading multimedia content. At the same time, the phone also supports work with microSD cards up to 32 GB. Due to this, the total space on the device can reach 48 GB, which is quite enough to accommodate a fairly abundant collection of films, audio tracks and even programs. Due to this, from a "dialer" Nokia Asha 230 Dual SIM turns into a full-fledged smartphone with buttons.
Entertainment
The model certainly has various possibilities for entertainment and performing some tasks, which should also be mentioned in this article. These include, for example, the presence of a built-in voice recorder, a flashlight (implemented using a flash), an organizer. In addition, due to operating system installed on the phone, the user can install their own software packages using a special software catalog maintained by Nokia. In it you can find not only various games for this phone, but also some improved (compared to the standard) players, browsers, codecs, and so on. All this, as you know, expands the capabilities of our Nokia 230 Dual SIM (the price of which is an order of magnitude lower than any sensor device of the same quality).
