How to make a touchscreen from a simple phone. How to make a push-button phone touch

Touchscreen phones are, without a doubt, pleasant devices that delight the eye and fingers. Is it true that ordinary push-button telephone, even black and white, can you make touch? It sometimes looks like a myth, but oddly enough it is true. What methods have not been invented by people just to be similar to those who have a fancy phone and one of these methods has proved to be effective. Strange as it may seem, but it doesn't take a lot of money and time to create a touchscreen phone. Let's not stand on ceremony for a long time and figure out how to make an ordinary touchscreen phone? If someone thinks what to turn into touchscreen phone, it is possible only any models, then I will say right away, this is not so.

In fact, you can absolutely any old or new model turn the phone into a touchscreen device. And so, as many have guessed, the phone itself cannot be turned into a touchscreen device, it can only be done with a screen, but how to do it so as not to break it, we will now talk. First you need to choose one or another phone that you would like to make touch, for the first time it is better to take old phone, because in which case it will not be so sorry. In order to learn how to make a phone screen touch, you need three things: the phone itself, hairspray, and a clean cloth.

Each of the ingredients is best handled with care. For example, the phone, as mentioned above, must be taken older or at least not expensive. Hairspray you can take "Sensitive", you can take others, but this one is proven, so if there is an opportunity, it is better to take it. You also need to take a clean cloth, or even better, use a cotton swab, so it will be safer. These ingredients have been tested on the phone, so if you decide to learn how to make a laptop touch, it is better to read something else. Apply hairspray to a cotton swab or cloth, then apply it to the glass panel of your phone with gentle but even movements.

Apply until the varnish dissolves. Then, after a couple of seconds, a thin film should form on the phone, and it will make an ordinary phone a touchscreen. This method is really simple and effective, but there are comments on the Internet that refute this way... This may be due to the fact that people are using not very high quality varnish. After such an experience, the question of how to choose a touchscreen phone will disappear by itself. You can make a touchscreen from any phone, you just need to follow the instructions and choose the right product.

Touchscreen phones are popular not because they are multifunctional, but because they completely eliminate the ability to operate with buttons. Now this opportunity can be provided on a regular phone. It is not advisable to try this method on a computer or laptop, since the devices are very expensive and in which case, no one except yourself will be responsible for them. You can learn how to make and how to turn on the touch panel on your computer from the videos posted on the Internet.

This is also a pretty good invention to help simplify the user's work. In conclusion, we can say that a simple phone will cost much less than a touchscreen, and if the problem is only to switch functions with your finger, then this problem can be easily corrected with varnish, but if the preferences fall on design and functionality, then in this case even hairspray is powerless.

Electromagnetic interference can interfere with cell phones and degrade signal reception. But they may be the key to transforming traditional LCDs into gesture-based displays.

A group of researchers from the University of Washington Computer Laboratory has developed a method for converting a conventional liquid crystal display (LCD) into a touchscreen using electromagnetic interference. UTouch technology uses a simple sensor and software. This technology is based on weak electromagnetic radiation emitted from consumer electronics.

“The devices around us are the source of all these signals. But people do not attach importance to them, because they perceive them as hindrances, ”says researcher and co-author of the work Sidhant Gupta.

If for tablet computers and smartphones, touch screens have become the norm, but in television panels and computer monitors, they are just beginning to spread.

Current techniques for converting passive displays into sensitive screens tend to rely on cameras or other sensors. However, this solution is not always practical. The results of the latest research will be presented during the May scientific conference in Paris, where issues of human-computer interaction will be discussed.

The authors of the study note that they measured and analyzed the nature of the signals coming from LCD displays when the hand was brought to the screen. These signals are recorded as electromagnetic interference and can be measured with a $ 5 sensor plugged into a household outlet.

The sensor collected information about electromagnetic interference and sent it to a computer connected to the system with a special software... The program used machine learning to predict a signal that is recognized as noise, or as one of five established gestures. After registering a touch or gesture, the screen followed the user's command.

“We are trying to better understand the nature of the signal change, its intensity,” says Gupta.

Each display generates its own electromagnetic interference. The sensor is able to tell the difference between the two. This makes it possible to teach conventional LCD displays to recognize touches and gestures.

But uTouch technology has its limitations. In this way, you cannot turn a regular display into an interactive one. iPhone screen or -smartphone. The device responds to simple gestures that play videos, start and stop applications. More complex finger movements on the screen are still incomprehensible to him.

The researchers do not plan to commercialize the technology, but according to Gupta, the necessary components are commercially available, and all the algorithms are discussed in the report. Therefore, if desired, the system can be assembled independently.

The team will continue to work on improving the uTouch technology.

The dying PC market can be saved.

Due to the constant decline in the cost of cell phones and the regular appearance of new models, almost everyone can find several unused cell phones of varying degrees of obsolescence. If the phone, although it is outdated, is quite functional, then it is possible to make some kind of remote notification system from it, for example, a GSM alarm system or a GSM microphone. It's another matter if you got the device incomplete or even in the form of wreckage.

It seems that nothing useful can be extracted from such a device, but this is not so. It is natural to shoot for reuse SMD elements are not at all rational. But any cell phone has a vibration motor.

Vibration motor

You can use a vibration motor in different ways, in the simplest case it can become the main part of the simplest vibro-robot. The basis of such a robot is a foil-coated fiberglass board, approximately 40 x 10 mm in size.

Two holes are made in the board, one for installing the battery, the other for the eccentric of the vibration motor. In fact, the board consists of two supply conductors from the power supply to the terminals of the vibration motor.

From the bottom side, “legs” made of some elastic material, for example, foamed polymer (polyurethane foam, microporous rubber, etc.), are glued to the “body” of the robot.

The vibration motor is fixed with epoxy plasticine.

The contacts for the battery are made of brass foil.

Thus, we get the simplest design, which, due to the unequal height of its supports, irregularities and the slope of the surface, will write out intricate trajectories. However, the vibrobot can be complicated, for example, made to follow a line.

LCD screen

In addition to the vibration motor, an LCD screen can be used. Tracking down the technical documentation for this particular screen can be difficult. But due to the peculiarities of the physics of work, any liquid crystal screen has films that polarize light.

Light polarization is a phenomenon that proves that electromagnetic (and how special case light) waves are transverse, that is, the vectors characterizing the electric and magnetic components of the electromagnetic wave are always directed perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation. An example of mechanical shear waves is waves on the surface of water, where the liquid vibrates up and down, while the wave propagates horizontally. Without going into the physics of wave phenomena, I will simply note that in addition to transverse waves, there are longitudinal waves, an example of which can be sound waves... In longitudinal waves, particles vibrate along the direction of wave propagation. However, you can read about all this in a good physics textbook, or at least here.

Now it is important for us that the coating of the liquid crystal screen can polarize light, i.e. from all possible electromagnetic oscillations to choose only waves oriented in a certain way. Thus, the polarizer immediately attenuates natural light by half.

After passing through the polarizer, only waves that oscillate in a certain plane remain in the light beam. Now, if you place another polarizing film (called the analyzer) in the path of the light beam, then by changing the mutual orientation of the polarizer and the analyzer, you can smoothly change the brightness of the light beam. In the last photo, the light source is not completely extinguished, which indicates incomplete polarization of the light. The laser beam is initially completely polarized, so no analyzer is needed to change its brightness. As for the practical application of this phenomenon, they are quite diverse. For example, reflected light is almost always partially polarized, so glasses with polarizers or a polarizing filter on a camera lens greatly reduce glare.

Discuss the article WHAT CAN BE DONE FROM OLD PHONES

A grandmother is a cell phone with large, large buttons, big screen and increased ringer volume for visually impaired people.

The name "babushkofony", which was aptly dubbed phones for the elderly, has become firmly established in the modern lexicon. And if earlier elderly parents and grandparents got their mobile phones mainly "inherited" from advanced offspring who decided to change their phone model to a more modern one, then in recent years mobile phone manufacturers have been actively developing and producing grandmother phones - models for this target audience.

Mobile is no longer a luxury item, but an absolute necessity.

And for a person aged presence / absence cell phone can become literally vital: for example, it became bad, but the city number does not work, or in general it happened on summer cottage, where the nearest doctor is 40 kilometers away! Yes, you never know possible situations, not to mention the fact that the very ability to freely contact your children at any time will have a calming, almost therapeutic effect on a person of age.

But for you to do right choice and your gift did not become useless and inconvenient for a grandmother who sees poorly or for a grandfather who is angry because he cannot figure out “how to use this thing”, it is important to understand exactly what requirements you should have mobile phone for an elderly person. In principle, it will not take long to list all the main necessary signs and features of the "babushkofon":

  • the largest and most comfortable keyboard buttons;
  • accessible, understandable, single-level menu;
  • the minimum required set of functions;
  • loud call ringer;
  • the ability to connect a headset compatible with a hearing aid;
  • the presence of the "SOS" button, which provides emergency call a predefined number or several numbers;
  • keyboard lock desirable separate key or a lever;
  • monochrome display with a clear, large, readable font, which will be convenient for people with low vision;
  • the ability to listen to the radio without headphones;
  • low, "budget" price (to convince a relative to use the phone, and not put it in the sideboard, as a too valuable thing).

Which grandmother phone you choose for your elderly relatives is a matter of taste and your financial capabilities. But, making your choice, do not forget that our grandparents need more than just a “dialer”.

Push-button phones based on Android 2018

And, although they do not need extra functionality, it would be very nice to put your favorite melody on the phone. By the way, some quite "advanced" grandparents successfully master the cameras built into the phone and use them to the fullest to take pictures of their beloved grandchildren or their pets, caught fish or summer achievements. It is pleasant to keep such information "for memory", and you can boast to your neighbors very clearly.

Choosing a phone is a responsible process that requires a certain approach. The choice of a phone should be approached as carefully as possible, because it is hardly possible to change it every week.

Telephones

Today on the counter of the store you can see different models phones that differ not only in color and functions, but also in the presence or absence of buttons. On the market in this moment most of all, it is touch-sensitive phones, but push-button ones are quite enough. In this regard, you can often hear a dilemma - which phone to choose a touchscreen or a push-button?

Phone selection

The final choice must be made based on a variety of very different nuances. First of all, you need to understand if you can live with the new screen and work well with it. Of course, almost every person has a fear of the new, and in the first place, this is due to natural instincts. It is better for the older generation to choose push-button phones, since it is much easier to work with them (calls and SMS can be sent by simply pressing buttons), while a touch-sensitive phone still needs to be dealt with.

The second reason is directly related to the sensor itself, because it does not always work well, while the buttons always work as they should. Today there are two types of sensors: resistive and capacitive screens. Resistive sensors respond to any press. The first touchscreen phones had just such a screen. It should be noted that this screen had two films. When you click on the top one, a certain signal was given, which was eventually read by the program. This film was often scratched and dirty, because sometimes it was necessary to press very hard on the screen. As a result, the phone lost its original appearance. The new generation of phones has a capacitive screen that reacts exclusively to current conductors (fingers, stylus, etc.). Such a touchscreen is easy enough to use (you don't have to press hard with your fingers for the phone to respond), but you need to understand that such screens have thin glass that can break.

The latter leads to the following reason for the choice.

The person may drop the touchscreen phone.

How to make a touchscreen from a push-button phone

If its screen breaks, it will be impossible to use the phone, which means that such phones should be treated with great care. Push-button phones, for the most part, when the screen breaks, retain their own functions, and if you need to call such a phone with a broken screen, then this can be done simply by pressing the buttons.

The latter is the inconvenience of using touchscreen phones for people with thumbs. Most often, the touch screen is pre-programmed for a certain size of icons that cannot be changed (unless you reflash or use other special software), and if these icons are small, you can press other icons at the same time, which causes additional inconvenience.

IT Blog Touch Monitor

This article is about how to make a real touch screen monitor from a regular monitor.
I made a touchscreen monitor from a regular 15-inch LCD and, in fact, the touchscreen itself.
Caution! Lots of photos 🙂

So we have:

  • 15 ″ monitor (I had Proview)
  • crazy desire to get a touch screen

Let's get started.

First you need to disassemble everything and see what's inside. To do this, unscrew the bolts. In my case, there are only two, if the monitor is different, then there may be fewer or more bolts, but we unscrew one fig.

After unscrewed, very often the front panel of the monitor still does not want to be removed. So you need to snap off the latches. I am good at doing this with a screwdriver:

Everything. The lid was removed. We looked at the latches 🙂

Now we have a naked screen:

We pick it out of the case (do not ask why, right now you will see for yourself)

Got it out. We look, looking for free-places-voids.

And now I’m telling you why. At the very beginning of the article, I said that we will install a touch screen. So, the touchscreen that I installed consists of, in fact, a touchscreen (glass with a film glued on it) and a USB controller, which I also decided to cram inside.

Here is the controller itself:

Quite small. In length a little more than 10 cm, in height about 4-5 mm.

The controller does not warm up to warm up, so I wrapped it with electrical tape, just in case.

I glued 2-sided tape on the back. With this tape, the controller will be glued to the case. There will be plenty of such attachment, since no effort will be created on the touch-screen controller, so there is no need to fence anything superfluous.

We glue it to the body. It is advisable to glue it so that it does not stick out because of the metal cover, but is level with it, since we still have to put the screen back 🙂

We remove the extra "ribs of the ventilation grill" of the monitor from the bottom in order to bring the USB-cable of the controller outside. I did it with an ordinary soldering iron and scalpel.

We skip the cable.

how to make a touchscreen from a push-button phone

Since the set includes a cable with filters (barrels), we had to cut off a few more plastic stiffeners.

In order to prevent all this from dangling during the installation process and so that the cable is not accidentally pulled out of the connector during the operation of our future touch panel, we fix the cable with plastic ties.

Now we proceed to the installation of the glass itself with the touchscreen. First, I wash the monitor screen very carefully (which shows the picture), because if you don't wash it, then it will be difficult to get to it, and we don't need stains "inside" the monitor! 🙂

After that, we glue double-sided tape (thin automobile) on the steel frame of the monitor screen

On this tape we glue the glass with the touch screen. At first, I had a desire to glue the glass over the entire surface, but after thinking, I left this desire - it would not fall out and so it would not fall out (and on top there was also a frame), but if you had to disassemble this structure, it would be very difficult to tear off the car adhesive tape.

Now all that remains is to connect the touch screen and the USB controller. A ribbon cable with a connector is used for connection. The cable is thin, so you can wrap it around the screen and the base of the screen. So that it does not dangle, I glued it too.

It was very lucky that in the place where the touch screen's cable runs, there was a fastening notch. Now you don't have to worry about the train being squeezed or something else will happen to it.

First test drive:

After I tried to put the front panel of the monitor back, it turned out that this panel presses on the touchscreen, thereby interfering with the calibration.
I had to come up with such a hack:

Well, I think the idea is clear - we make small protrusions so that the touch screen does not touch the front muzzle.

That's all, actually. Finally, a video with the result of my work today:

As you can see in the video, I have no problems with positioning at all and I don't press the screen hard either. In general, it works fine.

P.S. Xeon will come soon and tell you exactly what kind of screen it is, where he got it and how much money it cost 🙂 I really don't know.

Xomep Jan 24, 2013 Comments Off on How to make a touch screen yourself, disabled at home

Many people know that touch monitors are: Matrix, Capacitive touch, Projected capacitive, Resistive, etc. These touchscreens cannot be assembled at home, but anyone can assemble an optical touchscreen! So, what is required to assemble a touch screen with your own hands:

White, blank sheet of A4 paper (white matte acrylic)

Scissors

Webcam (the simplest 0.5)

Photo frame with glass, preferably under the size of a sheet of A4 paper

An empty box is also desirable to fit A4 size

With these tools we will be able to create a multitouch.

Let's start assembling. We take an empty box (A4), from the inside, draw diagonals at the bottom of the box, put a point at the intersection with a pencil, and punch a hole for the webcam. We strengthen the webcam. Next, insert a blank A4 sheet into the photo frame. We strengthen the sheet with clamps. We turn the photo frame with a sheet of paper glass down (the glass looks at the bottom of the box) and put it on the top of the box, make the webcam look at a blank sheet of paper, which we will put on top. The result is a "clean" box with a lid. We connect the webcam to the computer. Before connecting, make sure that the webcam drivers are installed on your PC!

For your touch screen to work, we also need special software.

1. So, go to the CCV.NUIGROUP.COM website, download the (Community Core Vision) program for your operating system.

3. Launch the program that controls the webcam. In the property tab, select the black and white mode. By adjusting the brightness / contrast, we will achieve that only the tip of your finger is visible (not the entire part of the hand that the webcam sees) 4. Run the mouse driver. While it is deactivated. Recall that the webcam must be running during operation!

How to make a push-button telephone touchscreen?

Launching Community Core Vision. For the system to work properly, the following must be enabled: Use camera, Track Dark, Send Tuio Oso. Next, we mark the work surface, and then it should be calibrated. Check the Flip Horizontal checkbox, press the English letter "C".

4 points will appear on the monitor, which serve as an assistant for you in calibration, we press them on the surface of your touch screen. 6. Activate the mouse driver window, press the space bar. That's it, the work is over! Now you can brag to your friends that you have assembled your optical touchscreen. Also, using the touch surface is very convenient to draw in Photoshop, Paint, Gimp!

Everything is possible in our time! It is quite possible that an ordinary push-button telephone with the help of skillful hands and “transcendental” knowledge becomes touch-sensitive. But is the game worth the candle?

The human genius wondered: how to make a phone touchscreen?

The invention of the touch screen became a kind of breakthrough in improving the input method, interaction with the displayed information on the display, as well as the practical application of technology in all spheres of human activity. Agree, it's convenient: instant response to a command, efficiency of actions, comfort in use and much more, if you have a touchscreen phone in your service. All this became feasible thanks to the use of resistor and which only visually resemble "ordinary" displays. For the rest, there are some differences as in technical issues as well as in the functionality of the parts.

Touch from push-button: is it feasible?

Have you thought about how to make a touch-sensitive phone by remaking a regular mobile phone? It is unlikely that your venture is destined to come true, because it is practically a waste of time and effort, since the “usual” screen cannot be given touch functionality. Design features The touchscreen interact with the entire hardware part of the phone, and it is almost impossible to “attach” such a screen to the Nokia-6131 or another push-button phone! The various ways of making the phone touch-sensitive, which the Internet is replete with, are nothing more than deception and a ruthless attempt to ridicule the "gullible" of this world. The easiest way is to purchase such a unit, so to speak, ideally, from the manufacturer, than to experiment and cripple a work phone with a slightly different principle of navigation and control.

How to choose a mobile phone with touch
screen, or Optimal choice

Which company should you give your preference to? What to look for when buying
"Sensitive" apparatus? Of course, on the practicality and reliability of the device. The economy of the device and its functionality... Touchscreen phones are not a luxury these days, and almost everyone can afford to buy the model they want. The best option when choosing a touchscreen device, one should, first of all, consider the moderation of the price and the pleasant design quality of the device with a touchscreen display. Budget models brands like Nokia and Samsung would be ideal options that fit the aforementioned parameters. Again, the user should be guided by his preferences, therefore, when choosing a mobile phone, ask the sales consultant of the salon how justified your choice is regarding the device you like.

Summing up

The obvious answer to the question of how to make a touchscreen phone can only be seen on the assembly line of the manufacturer. Because the manufacture of such a phone is a high-tech process that has nothing to do with a video from the Internet, which shows how to make a touchscreen using hairspray from a push-button phone. Be healthy and don't expose yourself to an unpleasant moment to be ridiculed!
