Pc suite Russian version. Communication software

general information about Nokia PC Suite
Today, almost any mobile phone can be connected to a computer or laptop using the software offered by the manufacturer of this device. Nokia should be considered one of the pioneers in this area, the developer pays close attention to its Nokia PC Suite software, improving it year after year. At the time of preparation of the material on the Nokia website, one could find the version of the package under the index 6.83 (http://www.nokia.ru/support/software/pcsuite/download/), it is suitable for any Nokia mobile phone, if the OS installed in the device implies the ability to work with PC Suite. Getting the program is not difficult, it is free, as a rule, it comes with a mobile phone. However, if you are purchasing not a novelty, but a phone or smartphone that has been on the market for quite a long time, then I recommend that you look at the above page and use new version software package. Anyone can download it, the volume of the distribution kit takes about 23 Mb, the software package is Russified, and the localization is at a fairly high level.

PC software requirements.
The OS used, PC Suite occupies about 150 Mb of hard disk space
Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4)
Windows XP (Professional or Home edition), (Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2)
Windows XP Professional x64 edition
Windows Vista x32 and x64 editions

Connection methods
Data cable, and its marking is unimportant, infrared or Bluetooth, to work using the "blue tooth" it is necessary that the following Bluetooth software be installed on the PC.
- Microsoft Windows Bluetooth (included in XP SP2 and Vista)
- Toshiba Bluetooth stack for Windows XP/2000 v 4.0
- WIDCOM BTW 1.4, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0
- IVT BlueSoleil Bluetooth package for Windows XP/2000, driver version 1.6.1.4 (Nokia Nseries, Eseries and 3250 phones require driver version 2.1.2.0).

Installation
The installation process is simple and does not take much time. If the computer has old version Nokia PC Suite, the wizard will uninstall it and install the latest version. After installation, you may need to restart your computer for the new changes to take effect. During the wizard, the PC will be written drivers for mobile phones by Nokia, including for fairly old models that are already several or even more years old. Therefore, you most likely will not need to look for drivers for your phone.
After the system is installed and rebooted, the Nokia PC Suite icon will appear in the desktop tray. This shortcut will constantly hang in it, it is located in the startup area of OS Windows, it can be removed from the tray in the registry, but then you will have to manually launch the program when connected. An icon is a quick menu that provides access to various utilities. In addition, access the program and instructions ( pdf format) you can also work with it from the "Start" menu.

Immediately after connecting the phone via a data cable, Windows XP/Vista will automatically find new devices and install all the necessary drivers on them. Almost all the latest Nokia mobile phones in the price range from 5000 r. (a typical example, Nokia 6085) can work with a computer in different ways, depending on the user's choice. After connecting, a menu appears on the display in which you can select the operating mode of the device. Usually it consists of three parts, two of which are unchanged, and the third varies depending on the purpose of the phone. For example, instead of the synchronization mode with Windows MediaPlayer, PictBridge can act. The other two modes: work with the PC Suite software package and data transfer, in the latter case, the radio part is turned off, and the phone memory and memory card are defined by the PC as removable hard drives. If you select this mode, you cannot use Nokia PC Suite. After we select the desired mode of operation, we can begin to use the software package.
This will help the mobile phone connection wizard, offering to configure the type of connection between the device and the PC. Working with it is very simple, just select the type of connection, the wizard will do the rest for the user. When working with the software via Bluetooth, using Widcomm Bluetooth Software, it was noted that before starting the connection wizard (if the phone is connected to the PC for the first time through the "blue tooth"), it is advisable to first pair the phone and PC (enter the required password when connecting, which requires Widcomm Bluetooth Software), otherwise, at least it happened to me, the phone may not be determined, the master will miss it.

Nokia PC Suite dialog box Extra options
The Nokia PC Suite dialog box consists of general list available programs. At the top are additional settings, among which there is a menu "File", "Internet" and "Help". Of greatest interest is the second section, which allows you to "register" a software package on the Nokia website, however, registration means the ability to receive information about available updates, however, not in Russian; and the ability to order GPRS/MMS/e-mail settings for your mobile phone. Users of 06/07 smartphones should not be interested in getting the settings, since this means downloading from the developer's website and installing the SettingWizard program in the device's memory, on new devices it is included in the preinstalled software set.

Backup
The first utility for working with the phone is "Backup", under it is the Nokia Content Copier utility version 4.0. Its meaning lies in the fact that the user can create a backup copy of all data (contacts, programs, bookmarks, multimedia, Internet settings, etc.) stored in the phone's internal memory and even on a memory card. But is it worth doing a "backup" of information from a memory card? After all, the contents of the card can be easily copied to a computer using file manager, but if they offer, why not use it?
After starting the program, the user can copy or restore data.

Three devices were taken for testing: Nokia 6670, Nokia 6290 and Nokia E65. The memory of Nokia 6290 was occupied by 15 Mb of various data, the creation of a copy of the data took 87 seconds, not so long. It took 203 seconds to create a "backup" from a memory card (128 Mb card was used, 24 Mb was used on it). The generated files have *.nbu extension.

Using the code *#7370#, through which the smartphone returns to its original state, allowed me to check how the reverse process is going. And it happens without a hitch, 4 minutes and all the information was in the smartphone, while you can choose which type of data can be restored and which is not worth it, saving time and free space. The created backup copy can be written to any Nokia mobile phone.

Synchronization
The ability to store contacts from a mobile phone address book on a PC is one of the most important features of such software. It is she who uses the majority of users, paying little attention to other utilities. In the software package under consideration, these functions are performed by Nokia PC Sync.

Nokia PC Suite can synchronize data with the following programs: MS Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Organizer 5.0/6.0, Lotus Notes 5/6/7.x. I made synchronization with MS Outlook address book.

When the phone and PC are synchronized for the first time, a wizard is launched that allows you to configure the work settings, they include: choosing a program for storing information, determining the type of data that you want to save (contacts, calendar / to-do items, notes and bookmarks, in the latter case, when they transfer from PC to phone copy bookmarks from IE or Mozilla FareFox, other alternative browsers are not supported). In addition to the basic settings, there are also additional parameters, which I will not list, I suggest readers take a look at the screenshots, I will only briefly note that the correct setting can save a lot of time in the future.

After the synchronization is completed, you can see a report about what changes were made.

Nokia PC Sync works according to the following principle: data from a mobile phone is transferred to Outlook and vice versa, and almost all information fields remain unchanged, but "practically" is not "all". Unfortunately, Nokia PC Suite and MS Outlook are not group friendly. Group information is not transmitted. The reason is that in MS Outlook groups are categories, and if there are categories in the notebooks of devices on OS Windows, then in Nokia, alas, they are not. However, groups are not so bad. The real trouble is when data about the ICQ user number and other information that is recorded on the contact is lost.
When transferring data from a PC to a phone, you may also encounter the fact that the mobile phone, which is recorded in the Outlook card under the number "Other" (there may be other "unlucky" field names, but for some reason I constantly encounter it) often refuses to be copied, then it cannot be found in the device's memory.
The program does not care what recording format phone numbers used by the user: through "8" or through "+7". All contacts, except for those recorded on "Other" are recorded in the device's memory. It is worth noting that graphic images are also transmitted, which are attached to the contact.
For all the time I have been working with Nokia PC Suite, I have noticed that the success of synchronizing a computer and a phone directly depends on which OS is used in the device, if this OS is Symbian, especially latest version, then everything will go smoothly enough, if this OS Series 40 is the first or second edition, then there will be no problems. First of all, this is the loss of phone numbers or the loss of letters in names, then the duplication of phone numbers. With the third edition of the Series 40, these problems are much less, but they are still noticeable.
During the transfer of calendar data, you rarely encounter the loss of part of the information (either a letter is omitted, or the time on the reminder was not transferred), basically, there are no complaints.

Internet connection
Utility one touch Access does the same thing as a standard network connection that comes preinstalled with Windows desktop software. However, it looks much better, besides, everything necessary settings can be entered in the appropriate section (login, password and connection number), including, and indicate extra line initialization, which in Windows you have to look for in the modem settings. The program also has preset settings for domestic mobile operators, but they are different from those used in some regions, so they did not help me, I had to enter them manually.

Application installation
Nokia Application Installer allows you to install new programs in your phone memory or on a memory card, and this is done in a few mouse clicks. Select in the left window necessary program, press the "Download" button, and for many devices it makes no sense to choose the type of memory in the program, since the installation process is controlled on the mobile phone screen. During installation (like an application with the *.sis extension or a java-midlet), the user is free to choose the type of data storage.

File Manager
This is Nokia Phone Browser, which plays the role of a file manager, it could be called an analogue of a regular file manager (or an analogue of the "data transfer" mode), if not for two "buts". First and second: the browser allows you to work with contacts and send text messages, duplicating the "Contacts" and "Messages" items.

Before opening the list of contacts, the device downloads them from the phone within a few seconds. Using the browser, you can edit entries in the phone book and immediately save them to the phone memory.

When creating a new contact, the owner is greeted not only by the colorful interface of the program window, but also by an extensive set of additional information fields, whose abundance is surprising at first, you won’t even expect such generosity from Outlook. Here you can also personalize contacts by adding only a picture to them (the picture can be of any size, the image will be automatically scaled), you cannot attach a ringtone.

Messages are represented by four items: outgoing, sent, received and draft. However, writing a message is easy and simple, you must select the appropriate item in the browser. The form of a new message consists of two blocks: a number block and a text block; you cannot attach any additional elements (graphics or sound). A new message is sent via the connected mobile phone.

It is not possible to send multimedia messages using this version of the software, since the corresponding utility called Nokia Multimedia Factory is not included in the package.

View media files or Nokia Multimedia Player
It can be called a real omnivore player, since it can work with any kind of multimedia content, but by and large it is not worth using it.

The choice of supported files is carried out in the settings, their number directly depends on the codecs installed on the PC, however, frankly, I didn’t like the fact that when choosing a format, the player becomes the main program in which this type of file will open by default. Nokia, nevertheless it is necessary to be a little more modest. You can create your own playlists, save them and edit (music - *.m3u, video - *.npl), and one list can contain both audio and video files.

Nokia Multimedia Player understands almost all video formats, and the player window size is automatically scaled to fit the video resolution. The utility allows you to convert video files to 3gp format with the click of a button. True, the program shows an anachronism of the past - you can not change the resolution of the video, as well as the quality of the file, the first will always be 128x96 pixels, and the second is the worst. It would be time for the Finns to provide the user with more options when encoding, otherwise the player is inferior in this parameter even to simple small utilities designed to work with 3gp files.
Using the utility, you can also view images, but the usual Windows image and fax viewer does this better, better and more interesting.
Communication with music files is carried out in exactly the same way as with video, except that Nokia Multimedia Player does not allow you to change music tracks. As the main player of music files, it does not pull, because it does not even have a banal equalizer.

Thus, this application is only interesting for watching video files from a PC.

Saving an image
This section hides Nokia app Image Store, through which you can transfer all video files and images from the phone's memory to a folder specially selected by the user on a PC. Transferring files is fast and hassle-free. A feature of this application should be considered only convenience, since all actions are carried out with a couple of mouse clicks. The user gets rid of the need to use the browser to navigate through the sections of the phone or memory card in search of photo and video files.

The Nokia Image Store settings include the ability to: enable automatic copying media data when the phone is connected to the PC (in this case, all files will be immediately copied to the selected folder), delete overwritten files from the phone's memory or leave them intact, and whether it is worth viewing immediately after synchronization using Nokia Multimedia Player received data.

Music transfer
Nokia Music Manager is responsible for this action. The program is not bad, as it has diverse functions. First of all, it acts as a song viewer for further downloading to the phone. It is enough to select the section with music and then tick the files that will be downloaded to the mobile device. The program understands mp3, aac, m4a, m3u file types. You can also use it to create a playlist and then transfer it to your phone.

During file transfer, you can convert selected songs to aac / aac + / mp4 format - this is the second opportunity that the program offers.

In addition, it can act as a music player, of course, in terms of its functions, it is far from the same winamp, but it offers user-friendly interface. True, it supports Russian tags only in Unicode format.

Connection management
Selects the type of connection between the mobile phone and the PC.

Phone software update
Probably one of the most interesting features that the Nokia PC Suit offers is the ability to update your mobile phone software yourself. When this section is selected, the user will automatically go to the company's support page, from where it is necessary to download the Nokia Software Update program (installation file size - 23 Mb), if it is already installed on the computer, it will automatically start.

You can flash the phone using any cable, including non-original ones. In an attempt to perform this operation on 6290, an ordinary cable from a digital camera was involved. Before flashing, you need to make sure that the battery is full or it’s better to play it safe and turn on the charger, and don’t forget to back up your data, after flashing the device will be pristine.

Principle works of Nokia Software Update is what the Finns call it "three steps", and it is necessary that the PC be connected to the Internet. Step one - the phone is determined, step two - the program checks the Nokia web resource to search for updates, if any, then you can perform the flashing process, and this is the third step. It is curious that the program does not work with all phones, so it refused to work with the old Nokia 6670. In addition, for some Nokia mobile phones, flashing will be carried out in the "data transfer" mode, the manufacturer honestly warns about this in the Russian-language instructions.

The firmware is downloaded via an Internet connection and weighs quite a lot, for example, for Nokia 6290, the software update took 69 Mb. Therefore, a high-speed connection is required. Installing all updates takes about 20 minutes, then you can use your mobile device again, downloading, of course, the saved "backup".

Conclusion
Nokia PC Suite is a set of versatile utilities that allow you to do whatever your heart desires with your device. It seems to me that of the entire set of functions, only the possibilities for working with phone book and organizer data, as well as flashing mobile device, however, do not forget about a number of disadvantages, without which it will not be possible to do. However, they are not so significant as to spoil the overall pleasant impression of the work.
The only thing you can't get rid of, especially for many Series 40 devices of the first two editions, is the loss of information about contacts, you just have to "grind your teeth" and endure it.
As for the ability to change the phone's software on your own, this is a strong move by Nokia. Yes, other manufacturers offer to update the software of their phone "over the air", but none of them has implemented this feature in the software package, and changing the firmware is really convenient, fast and requires only a couple of mouse clicks from the user. It is this simplicity that underlies the operation of the software package, so that any user can not rack their brains and understand the program, but immediately start working with it.

As you know, Nokia devices are of high quality and "indestructibility". That is why many of their owners are in no hurry to change their, perhaps not the most fashionable means of communication for cool smartphones. And really - if you are satisfied with the functionality of the phone, why spend extra money? If you have a decent camera and the ability to surf the Internet, you can safely postpone the new phone, say, for another year.

But in order to make the most of the functionality of such a device, you will need the Nokia PC Suite utility (the latest version comes without the abbreviation “PC”). By installing it on your computer, you can easily manage everything that is on your mobile phone - SMS messages, photos, a book with contacts, records in the organizer.

In addition, you will be able to install applications from the Ovi online service. We hope that, despite the takeover of the mobile division of the Finnish giant of the telecommunications industry by Microsoft, this analogue of the AppStore will continue to work.

At the same time, the intentions to stop the release of the Nokia line give reason to believe that the distribution and support of the software we are considering will soon cease. Therefore, it makes sense to install it as early as possible.

Opportunities:

  • synchronization via infrared / USB / Bluetooth;
  • access to the Ovi online service;
  • creating copies of any files from the phone;
  • convenient transfer of photos, compositions, videos;
  • copy contacts and SMS;
  • managing Java/Symbian applications;

Advantages:

  • Nokia PC Suite interface - in Russian;
  • possibility wireless transmission data;
  • clear interface with icons-tiles;
  • You can download Nokia PS Suite for free.

Things to work on:

  • the program is not compatible with all models (supported from Nokia 2112 to Vertu Constellation Quest).

Users of phones from the famous Finnish brand will make their lives much easier if they understand all the advantages of using Nokia PC Suite and decide to download this useful software for free. After all, a simple installation of various applications (including games), as well as copying SMS messages and contacts to a laptop or a stationary PC is exactly what we need so often.

Nokia PC Suite- this, as the name already implies, is a specialized application for Nokia phones, smartphones and communicators for synchronizing these devices with a computer and various applications that are not available for use with a normal connection via a high-speed USB interface, infrared port or using wireless data transfer technology bluetooth.

Key Features of Nokia PC Suite

The most important purpose of Nokia PC Suite is that with this program you can thoroughly view the contents of your phone that are not available for viewing via USB connection (without installed program). Here you can use the phone book, messages, view call logs, pictures, music, ringtones (even edit them in some versions) - in general, everything that can be done on the phone itself. However, on a computer, such editing becomes much more convenient and faster.

The undoubted advantages of the program include its functionality in the field of working with the Internet and using third party applications. Having set up the program once and using your phone as a GPRS modem, you can easily connect to the World Wide Web. Of course, the data transfer rate will not be as high, say, as when connected to local networks, but for those who do not have such an opportunity, this will be a huge plus. In addition, it is worth noting the presence of OVI services, where you can find anything - music, videos, weather, books, applications, etc. In addition, you can create backup copies of data for their quick subsequent recovery.

Virtually all models Nokia smartphones, means modern smartphones and communicators, until recently worked under the Symbian family of operating systems, the difference was only in the versions of the operating systems themselves. Here, too, you will find a wide field of activity for installing Symbian and Java applications on a phone directly from a computer, using, say, not .sys installation files, but standard computer Setup.exe files. This is very convenient and saves a lot of time, especially when there is nowhere to download the native installation file.

In some ways, this program resembles the Nokia OVI Suite version specifically for smartphones. However, the advantage of this software product obviously. It lies in the fact that it works not only with smartphones, but with regular Nokia phones that do not have operating systems on board at all. And even when working with a regular phone, many functionality, as well as when working with communicators.

In general, I must say, Nokia PC Suite is a really high-quality product for working both with a phone and with a computer. At its core, it provides tremendous opportunities for synchronization. Among the pluses, it is worth noting that, for example, the built-in video / audio player can work autonomously and regardless of the phone connection. That is, you can watch videos and listen to music directly in Windows environment without using, for example, Media Player.

And most importantly, the program works regardless of which phone model is used. That is why it is so versatile. The only pity is that it can only be used with models of this manufacturer.
