Miui 8 does not search for contacts in Russian. Ways to transfer contacts to Xiaomi

Detailed feedback on changes in MIUI 8 for Redmi Note 3 (Qualcomm).

Font

MIUI 8 now has a new font called "Mi Lanting". You might be saying, "What's wrong with that? What's new?" But after a few days of use, you yourself will notice that this trivial change is crucial. The new typeface makes optimal use of space for headings and status lines, while also looking sleeker and more elegant. Compared to the font for MIUI 7, "Mi Lanting" looks amazing!

Design

From the design side, there are many more innovations. The lock screen wallpaper uses the main colors of the rainbow, and this is combined with geometric lines lined up in the face of a diamond. It is impossible not to notice the updated clock, where hours and minutes are now on the same level.

The MIUI 8 application has changes that are obvious even to the naked eye, including an enlarged dialing surface, a marine green background color instead of the standard gray, access to the search bar in recent tabs. Above all, MIUI 8 displays more contacts than MIUI 7 when dialing is minimized. Pay attention to how attentive the developers of MIUI 8 are, and to what details they thought out the interface of their product so that the user can use MIUI 8 as comfortably as possible.

In the settings of the MIUI 8 pages, the number of points has decreased by 8 positions. At the same time, all the options that were in MIUI 7 remained in place, with the exception of "Notifications". Although you can configure them using the "Melody" page. In one section "Wallpaper" is now merged " Main screen” and “Lock screen”, and to quickly make backup topics, a quick access button has been added.

Changed the display when choosing a theme. Now you can quickly delete a topic using the key in the right upper corner instead of scrolling down the page to select the "Delete" option.

Interface

The call interface has also changed. MIUI 8 now uses a round icon to display a contact's photo, unlike MIUI 7 where it took up half a page. You can turn on the loudspeaker using the text button in the lower left corner so that you can quickly take the necessary notes during a call. When choosing a mode speakerphone the background changes to a lighter one and vice versa. Among other things, the developers have improved the animation effects during the acceptance and end of the conversation.

The Settings page interface has also been optimized and uses a dark gray background color. Changes were also made on the "Blocks and Permissions" settings page. MIUI 8 has two new features on the settings page: Second Space and Cloned Apps. We will talk about them a little below.

The status bar in MIUI 8 now looks like a deck map. The length of the status bar is not static, and depends on the number of your notifications. Even the color of the line now depends on the weather, it will be green on a sunny day and blue on a cloudy day. You can even not open the weather, but find out about it simply from the status bar. The animation of the status bar changing when touching up and down has also changed and became smooth and fluid, like the movement of water.

If you are not happy with the appearance of the MIUI 8 Status Bar, you can easily fix it. Just go to "Settings" and then "Notifications and status bars", there select the layout switcher and the item "Separate". And now you are back to the status bar in MIUI 7.

There are some improvements and quick access to recently used applications. Yes, control music player added on top of all applications. In the upper right corner there is an icon for switching the viewing modes of programs - icons or pages. Therefore, you do not need to increase or decrease the image, you can simply select the one you need. In addition, the overall layout of the elements has been optimized to minimize the use of space.

MIUI 8 stands out for its round app update design, while MIUI 7 has a triangle design at its core. These small touches give the impression of an open interface space.

Head screen clock purchased new appearance, now the minutes and hours are aligned. And the height of the clock itself has decreased. The toggle icons on the Lock Screen have a modified look. Also takes up less space search string Google. It is thanks to these changes that the desktop has become even more convenient and more free space.

Contacts

The contact book in MIUI 8 looks much cleaner and more organized than in MIUI 7. The background has been changed from gray to white, and with the addition of a floating button, more contacts are displayed in the window. Adding a new contact has also become easier, you can now fill in the fields "Name", "Company", "Title" in one window, without going into each one separately.

Contact details have also undergone major changes. The "Edit" option has become a floating button located in the lower right corner, and "Options" has been relocated to display the panel more clearly. A novelty is the "History" in adding contacts, where you can check the recently added ones. And despite this, the MIUI 8 contact book looks much more transparent and organized than MIUI 7. And instead of the standard one color for the entire list, each contact will have one of the seven colors offered by MIUI 8.

Market

The app market has also changed. Now you can install new fonts, change wallpapers, download music with one touch - just by swiping right or left. When switching titles, top panel also changes color.

Camera

The camera app has also received an updated interface design. By moving right / left, you can select photo settings or effects, among which there are many new ones. Now you can play with images, apply more filters and make them even brighter and more interesting. Each mode has its own icon in the interface for quick access. Despite all the novelties, some features were removed. So, now there is no way to switch the front and rear cameras with one touch. The animation when switching between photo and video has become smoother and more minimalistic compared to the version in MIUI 7.

The audio recording interface has also been improved. The navy blue theme combined with the flowing pattern looks great. Although, as for the functions themselves, there are no changes here.

Without them, the calendar functionality remained, although the interface itself has become more interactive. When switching between months, the color changes and the current date will become the bottom floating icon if you are viewing other numbers and dates.

Calculator

The calculator in MIUI 8 has changed dramatically for the better. Finally added % that was missing in MIUI 7! The calculation display itself has become an order of magnitude larger, and there are more options for calculations that can be opened in the upper right corner.

In addition to the standard calculator, special ones have appeared, including a currency converter, a loan calculator, a tax calculator, a scientific calculator, so you can handle any mathematical operations. Especially relevant - a currency converter, the dollar can be found at any time.

Notes

The Notes app in MIUI 8 has been greatly improved over its predecessor. The display of the list of notes has changed style - now it is a grid or a timeline. You can choose a style yourself by clicking on the icon in the upper right corner. The color scheme is also pleasing to the eye. When filling out a note, the background changes its color.

You can also apply special themes to your notes and make them brighter and more colorful, as if you drew them in your paper notebook. The only negative is that there is no way to apply these themes to display the widget on the desktop.

In order to maximize user security, the developers have added the ability to hide your Notes with a password. To do this, just drag the note down and the hidden place will become available.

Introduction of new features in MIUI 8

An unexpected solution with a screenshot, who would have thought that it could be made even more convenient and useful ... Well, what can be improved in this function? Conventionally, this can be called a “long screenshot”. Once you've taken a page photo, it will float in the top right corner. If desired, it can be edited, for example, to add text with explanations and expand it, and it can also be edited even while it is still floating. Animation with a floating screenshot is something!

I think everyone knows about a similar function on Apple smartphones or Samsung. But MIUI 8's "Shortcut Menu" floating icon is organized much easier than you thought. It allows you to have fast access up to 5 shortcuts and configure access to any hidden applications. If you do not use this menu for more than 2 seconds, it will become almost transparent so as not to disturb you. You can configure this parameter in the Settings menu - Extra options- Context menu.

We have already mentioned the Second Space function above, and now we will take a closer look at the novelty. This is the ability to create multiple spaces for different users. Something like Windows systems on your computer. The second space can contain completely different apps and items that you customize. To switch between spaces, it is enough to select a user and enter a password when the screen is locked.

Application cloning is also one of the novelties, which has already been mentioned, and now about it in detail. With MIUI 8, you can now create another copy of apps, for example, to use two accounts in in social networks and don't switch between accounts. The clone button is located in the lower left corner and is indicated by a yellow icon. Thus, with the help of cloning, you can stay in your personal Facebook account and maintain a working one at the same time.

One of the most functional novelties is the new MIUI 8 scanners. Now they have more functionality for even the most demanding users. There are 6 different scanner options available, including the well-known QR code scanner and merchant scanner. About the second in more detail - with its help you can find any product in the famous Chinese online store Taobao. You can do this by taking a picture of the desired position and uploading it to the trade scanner - similar products, prices, details and everything you want to know about this product. The trade scanner is useful for users all over the world and is not limited to the Republic of China.

There is also a built-in translator. IN this moment it can translate up to 7 languages, including English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish, German and Korean. But almost all languages will be translated into Chinese. An application for solving complex mathematical problems has also been added.

The highlight and main decoration of MIUI 8, in our opinion, was the application for scanning and editing documents. You can edit or crop the document and even extract text from it, but only in one language. And yet, the feature gives you a lot of options for processing your documents just on the way to work.

And here are a few features that were simply removed in MIUI 8.

These include save data and a battery profile. It is no longer possible to have multiple battery profiles and switch between them. This feature was hidden in the battery settings in the upper right corner.

The "Economy Mode" option for the battery in MIUI 8 has been greatly simplified. However, we have a new battery analysis feature available in the battery menu. To use it, just click the "Analyze battery usage" button and view a detailed report on the battery status.

conclusions

The MIUI 8 version has many differences from its predecessor, while MIUI 6 did not differ significantly from MIUI 7. Now there is more space, the main applications have gained the new kind, and the functionality has expanded with at least a dozen new products. We think MIUI 8 will bring more features and comfort to the lives of its users, all combined with a very elegant picture.

Very often, novice users who have bought smartphones from a Chinese manufacturer have difficulty finding various functions which would make life much easier. The article is devoted to how to transfer contacts to Xiaomi, taking into account all possible ways implementation of this task.

Working with device and sim card

The most common way to export/import contacts involves moving them between the phone and the inserted SIM cards. Everything is implemented quite simply, but first you need to launch the contact management menu. Can be quoted experienced users: "To launch any hidden menu, you need to hold down the touchpad function button under the device display." The manufacturer Xiaomi marked the desired button with three horizontal lines.

After starting the desired menu, proceed as follows:

  1. You need to open the "Import and Export" section.

  1. The "Import" block allows you to move contacts from your SIM card or your device to Google Accounts and Mi.

The option to import from a storage device assumes that the device contains .vcf format data previously exported there, which is called a vCard. After pressing this button, confirming the import, the user activates the process of searching for vCard data in the smartphone.

If the data is imported from a SIM card, then after choosing the account where the transfer will be made, you will need to select one or more entries. To mark several records at once, you should not just click on any of them, but hold down until the cells for marking appear.

  1. The "Export" block allows you to create the same vCard, placing it on the phone, and if you transfer contacts to the SIM card, then when you press the device, it will immediately notify you of the number of entries that can be moved.

Also, through the "Import and Export" menu, you can send contacts from SIM (devices) through various system and installed programs: SMS, Bluetooth, Email, as well as Skype, WebMoney Keeper or official apps various social networks.

The last item "Import to Mi account" allows you to transfer between Mi and Google accounts.

Transfer between devices

IN early versions firmware on Xiaomi Redmi and other devices of the Chinese manufacturer had the function of transferring data between different devices via Bluetooth. Now it is missing due to uselessness, according to the manufacturer, so there is nothing else left but to transfer data through a downloadable application. For example, you can use the Xperia™ Transfer Mobile app designed for mobile devices Sony Xperia, but also works with other smartphones (iOS, Android, Windows Phone).

You can also import the desired content from Xiaomi Redmi 3 or other models. In addition to contact information, you can transfer various multimedia files, personal information, applications and configurations. The transfer is carried out by cable or wireless connection Wi-Fi Direct™, in other words, directly from device to other device.

Using the QR code

The third of the described methods is not simple, since it involves the formation of a special QR code due to special application. Then downloading contacts is carried out by scanning this code with a device where you need to add encrypted data. You can implement this procedure using the QR Droid Code Scanner application, which is easily downloaded from Google Play.

You can transfer absolutely any data from Xiaomi Mi4 and other Android devices. In the case of transferring contacts, it will be enough to enter the "Import and Export" menu described above, and then select the "Send" function. Then you should select "Send contact as ..." and encrypt it into an XQR code according to the simplest intuitive scheme.

Working with cloud technologies

Advantage this method obvious, but why it is used less often is rather difficult to explain. Perhaps this is due to distrust of Internet services, where the risk of identity theft is higher. Consider everything using the example of Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro. Information on how to copy contacts from SIM to one of the accounts was discussed above. Further, the user's task is only to download data to a new device. Mass synchronization of all available gadgets with Google or Mi accounts allows you to distribute one card with information between all connected phones, tablets, computers. Naturally, it is worth remembering that the platform plays an important role in synchronization: it is impossible to use MIUI resources with iOS and vice versa.

Also, standard services can be replaced by popular cloud resources: Yandex. Disk, Dropbox. They work with them according to the same scheme: first, the data is sent to the account, and then downloaded through the desired device.

Problems displaying contacts

Again, it is worth talking about the nuances of displaying data on Xiaomi devices, since the wrong actions of a novice user can lead to certain contacts they just won't show up in the list. So, after the "Settings" menu has been enabled (described earlier), you need to enter the "Display" section.

The menu has a range of various ways sorting, display configuration and smart grouping function. For example, if you sort by first or last name, they will be displayed in alphabetical order. If the contacts are not displayed in the list, but the user is sure that certain entries were previously there, then you need to check if the sliders are disabled: “Only with a phone number”, “SIM card contacts”.

Outcome

So, transferring contacts within one Xiaomi device or to other gadgets is quite simple. Guided by the recommendations presented above, you can easily customize the display of contacts, as well as export or import them. It is enough to carefully study all the information and choose the most optimal of the methods.

MIUI has come a long way in 6 years from a simple fork of CyanogenMod to a full-fledged operating system - the title one for Xiaomi smartphones and tablets. But it is also installed on tens of thousands of devices from other manufacturers. many users of MIUI seem to be more convenient and functional than the native firmware of their gadgets. The last couple of years, the system has become less relevant, largely due to the development of stock Android and competitive shells. The operating system became “adult” already by the fifth version, in MIUI v6 they radically changed the design of the graphical shell, made it flat. The seventh version brought little that was new and the update could be called rather minor, but MIUI 8 has greatly changed both externally and in terms of functionality.

Attention: when writing this review, the Anglo-Chinese firmware installed on . The names of applications and settings items are given in English and Russian. The international (global) version of the firmware may differ slightly from the one shown in the review in terms of interface and set of applications.

Lock screen

By default, the device can be woken up with the Power button (optionally with the volume rocker), by double tapping the screen, or by opening the Smart Case. The latter option implies direct unlocking, in all other cases, after waking up, the gadget must be unlocked with a swipe from bottom to top in any part of the screen. The system is able to prevent involuntary unlocking of the smartphone when it is in your pocket, using the proximity sensor above the screen. For security purposes, you can set an unlock password in three ways: create graphic key, set a PIN or password. In parallel with the password, in those devices where the fingerprint sensor is installed, you can use your finger. In addition, you can set up unlocking using the MiBand bracelet, it will happen if the bracelet is in close proximity to a locked smartphone or tablet.

By default, the lock screen displays: status bar, clock, date and day of the week. Optionally, you can display information about the owner of the phone on the lock screen. If there are missed events, they are displayed as a list of cards. With a double tap on one of the cards, the user will go to the corresponding application.

With a swipe from the top edge, you can pull out the notification curtain, swipe from the left-right edges launch applications of the user's choice. By default, the swipe from the right edge is set to launch the Camera application.

Desktop and multitasking organization

IN operating system application menu, and the main workspace is the desktop, they scroll horizontally. The desktop can contain application icons and widgets. At the bottom of the desktop is the Dock, which can hold up to 5 shortcuts or folders.

On one desktop in MIUI 8, up to 20 application icons and widgets located on a 4 * 5 grid can fit, the number of desktops is unlimited. Icons of newly installed applications appear on the last desktop in free space. Icons can be grouped into folders, a folder is created by simply dragging one icon onto another. The folder can contain an unlimited number of icons, scrolling inside the folder is vertical.

Icons and widgets move around desktops with a simple drag and drop. A widget can be removed from the desktop by dragging it to the trash can at the top of the screen. If you try to do the same with the icon, the system will offer to remove the application from the system. The desktop settings menu is called up by pinching your fingers on the screen or by holding the “Multitasking” button. The menu consists of four items: Sort, Widgets, Wallpapers and Effects. When you select the first item, a screen opens where you can in more convenient form sort application icons, move them from one table to another and create folders. The second and third points allow you to add a widget or change the wallpaper. In the last menu item: Effects - you can select one of the options for animating the tables scrolling. In addition, you can add additional tables or remove unnecessary ones.

Multitasking in MIUI 8 has the same principles as in bare Android, and is not regulated in any way. True, the system has a function of blocking background activity of applications with two profiles: Off. - the system does not interfere with the background activity of applications; On - the system, if possible, completely blocks the background activity of applications. It is possible to add individual applications to exceptions or select one of four control options for them: MIUIBattery Saver - the system will manage the background activity of the application at its discretion; No restrictions - has two sub-options, either the system will not interfere with the background activity of the application at all, or it will partially restrict access to geolocation services; Restrict background apps - the application will not be closed, but some background activity will be prohibited; Restrict background activity - the application will be unloaded from memory.

The multitasking button brings up the screen of the corresponding menu, at the bottom of which are displayed: the amount of free random access memory, just above the Clear memory button. A list is displayed above it all. running applications, it scrolls horizontally and can be displayed as icons or thumbnails, up to 4 icons or 3 thumbnails are visible at the same time. Swipe up on the icon closes the application, swipe up and down brings up two buttons, one of them sends to the settings window this application, the second - locks the application so that it is not unloaded when Clearing memory. Locking can be very useful when you want to save application state but need to clear RAM.

Controls, keyboard

Smartphone management in MIUI 8 implies the presence of a power button, volume buttons and three control buttons: Multitasking, Home and Back. Swipe, long tap and context menus are actively used for certain actions. The built-in search in MIUI 8 is called not by holding the Home button, but by swiping from bottom to top anywhere on the desktop, it is obvious that the idea was spied on in iOS7+. For the international version of the firmware, the search is called up by holding the Home button.

Like stock Android, MIUI has a notification shade that is combined with a toggle bar. On the desktop, the curtain can be pulled up with a swipe from top to bottom in any part of the screen, which is convenient, in applications, traditionally, by swiping down from the top edge of the screen. There are two modes for displaying information in the curtain, the default is Combined mode, when all switches are displayed in one scrollable row, and notifications are listed below. In Split mode, there are two screens: one screen with a list of missed events/notifications and a notification settings shortcut; the second screen contains: 20 switches, a backlight adjustment slider, and a shortcut to the Settings app. In both modes, the search bar, current day of the week and date are displayed at the top.

The native keyboard in MIUI 8, as I understand it, is not available for general use. Instead, two third-party keyboards Sogou Keyboard for MIUI and Baidu IME for MIUI are preinstalled in the system, a keyboard from Google has been added to the global version of the firmware. In some situations, for example, when entering a password on the lock screen, a completely different keyboard appears that looks more like a native one. The dial pad is comfortable, the buttons are large, there is a smart-dial.

Basic Applications

Appendix Phone / Phone, on the one hand ascetic, on the other hand, it has all the necessary functions. The main screen is divided into three tabs (only two tabs for the international version): Recents / Calls - recent activity, Contacts / Contacts and Yellow pages / Directory. The Calls tab displays a list of calls with the possibility of filtering and a dialer. The dialer has a smart-dial, it only works with the Latin alphabet and numbers. In contacts, from top to bottom, the following are displayed: contact groups, favorites and the contacts themselves; this tab has its own desktop icon. By default, contact photos are not displayed, but this can be enabled in the settings.

Application screen Messaging / Messages displays a list of dialogs and a search bar. The dialog window interface is simple: in the upper right corner there are two buttons: call a contact and a contact card. Above the keyboard are: the field for typing the current message, the send message button and the + button, the latter allows you to add to the message: message template, emoticon, contact, picture, video, etc. A long tap on a message calls up the context menu, through which you can delete the message, forward it, copy the text of the message, view detailed information on it, or send it to favorites.

Appendix Mail / Mail can work with various mail delivery protocols, including IMAP. I liked the swipe system in the list of letters. A left-to-right swipe marks cyclically changes the read mark (read / not read), a right-to-left swipe calls up two buttons: delete and add to favorites.

Browser / Browser its interface resembles the Chinese UC Browser. On the start screen favorite sites are located, on the second screen - a list popular services broken down into categories. The search bar is combined with the address bar, there is a built-in QRcode-reader for quickly entering the site address. In general, the interface seemed convenient and thoughtful to me, and in my opinion it is more pleasant than Chrome's.

Appendix clock includes: alarm clock, world clock, stopwatch and timer. The alarm can be set to sound even if the device is turned off.

Camera / Camera- the main screen of the Photo mode contains 8 buttons: flash control, HDR mode control, filters, a button that calls the shooting mode selection screen, a button to switch to front camera, gallery, shutter button, and switch to Video recording. Focus is set automatically or by tap. In the second case, pressing the focus area again takes a photo, sliding up and down to the right of the focus indicator, you can adjust the exposure. Swipes in the updated interface got rid of completely. Absolutely in all devices of the manufacturer there is a mode manual control photography settings, but budget smartphones it can only adjust the white balance and ISO. For video shooting, there are two additional modes: accelerated shooting (time lapse) and slow motion.

Calendar / Calendar– There are three views: Month, Week and Day. You can add events and reminders to them.

In the application Gallery / Gallery there are two tabs: Photos / All - an analogue of the film in iOS, absolutely all the photos taken on the phone's camera are collected here; and Albums / Albums where they moved everything else. The application can automatically synchronize all photos and videos with the cloud and detect faces in the photo. Added Photo Editor and Video Editor to the system, which have all necessary tools for basic editing.

Music / Music is a simple music player. There is online music, apparently it is free.

Mi Video / Mi Video- a video player similar to the Music application combined with online video.

Appendix Calculator / Calculator pumped, now, in addition to simple and engineering modes, there are several conversion modes, including for currencies.

One of the advantages of MIUI is that it is pre-installed with a fairly functional file manager Explorer / Explorer. The main screen of the application contains three tabs: the Recent tab displays a list of recent open files; the Categories tab displays 6 categories of files and 5 places where these files can be located. In the Storage tab, you can view all files in the form of a folder hierarchy. All three tabs below have two buttons: Mi Drop is a tool for transferring files to other devices with MIUI and Clean up / Cleaning is a shortcut to the utility of the same name.

In the same section, you can find other interesting settings, such as:

There are times when, when you go outside on a bright sunny day, turning on the screen, you can’t see anything on it, because. The brightness of the screen was set to a very low level, which was convenient for working indoors. It is not always possible even the first time to enter the settings in order to increase the brightness. To do this, there is a convenient function that allows you to increase the brightness of the screen to the maximum, using a keyboard shortcut.

QUICK REMOVAL OF APPS

Due to the fact that in MIUI all installed applications are on desktops, to remove them, there is no need to go to "Applications" and delete them from there. It is enough to press and hold on the application icon and then move it to the top of the screen to the trash. This function only works with installed apps, system applications cannot be removed in this way.

If someone doesn’t like this innovation, in “Settings” it is possible to configure the display of the curtain, as was implemented in MIUI 8. In the “Notification and Status Bar” section, by selecting the “Notifications and Switches” item, you can choose from two display options: "Combine" - MIUI 9 or "Split" - MIUI 8.

Also in this section you can configure the following functions:

Notifications in the curtain can be quickly deleted (swipe to the right). Mark as "Not important" (swipe left). In this case, you will not receive notifications from this program. Also, some applications have the function of displaying a message in the curtain or displaying additional options, such as: “Answer”, “Forward”, “Call”, etc. To display additional options You need to swipe down with two fingers on the message.

AVAILABLE FUNCTIONS IN THE SECTION "ABOUT PHONE"

And finally, we have saved two, perhaps the most interesting features of the MIUI shell, which are not available in the shells of other manufacturers.

APP CLONE

This function allows you to create a copy of any application, while it will work with its own settings. For example, you have two Accounts any messenger ("WhatsApp", "Telegram", "Viber", etc.). One account is personal, the other is work. Previously, in order to use several accounts on one smartphone, it was necessary to log out of one account and log into the second one, while entering credentials (login, password) each time. This is very inconvenient and takes a lot of time, besides, you could not use both accounts at the same time. The App Clone feature gives you that ability. To do this, go to "Settings" - "Clone applications" and select those applications for which you want to create a clone.

For example, let's create a clone of the Telegram program.

Agree with cloning Google services(if such a request appears). After that, a second shortcut for "Telegram" will be created.

As we can see, the application shortcuts are different so as not to be confused in the future. The cloned app has a yellow icon in the bottom left corner. We launch a clone.

The application prompts us to set up an account. We enter our data. Now we have two accounts in the Telegram program. In order to create a clone for another application, we follow the same procedure. To delete - just uncheck the box in the "Clone applications" section opposite the selected application, after which the clone will be deleted.

SECOND SPACE

This function allows you to set up on one smartphone, two independent spaces. Thanks to this, we can have two smartphones in one (virtual of course). For example, you can set up one space for work and another for home (or as "Guest" mode). Each space has its own settings. Also, it is possible to install different applications. To create a second space, go to the "Second Space" section in "Settings" and click "Create Second Space".

In the next window we will see the inscription "Space created" - click "Continue". Now we will be prompted to set a password for the second space, at this stage you can click "Skip" (in the future you can add a password in the settings, if necessary). Next, you will be prompted to install a fingerprint (if your device has a scanner). We skip, as when setting a password. Setup completed. In this window, leave all the items activated and click "OK". We have received the second version of our system, which has standard settings like we just installed it. The desktop differs only in the presence of additional shortcuts (marked in red in the screenshot) for:
- moving applications, photos, etc. between spaces (we will consider a little later);
— management of this space;
- transition to another space.

Also, a corresponding item will appear in the curtain for a quick transition to another space.

Moving data between spaces.

The "Settings of applications" item allows you to configure the use of the selected application only in the first space, only in the second space, or in both at once.

The app can be downloaded and installed from Play market(if it is not already installed in another space). To do this, you need to log into your account (accounts may be different).

Items import (export) photos, files, contacts - are used to transfer data between spaces.

When changing spaces, you will need to enter a password or fingerprint if the space you are moving to has a password.

In the first space (after creating the second one), a transition shortcut will also appear on the desktop and in the curtain.

To delete the second space, you need to click on the "Trash" in the upper right corner, in the "Second space" section.

Confirm the deletion in the next window.

And enter the password from the MI account.

All the features listed in this article are available in MIUI 8 and 9 skins (maybe some of the features were available in earlier firmware). There are slight differences in their implementation, settings, display, etc. Some of them work only in a certain version of MIUI or Android version. Where necessary, we have pointed out the differences between MIUI 8 and MIUI 9.

We hope you read this article, you have learned more about the capabilities of this shell. Many of them can significantly simplify and speed up the work with the device. Try to use the described features in everyday life, we think that this will bring you only positive emotions.

Information for owners of smartphones of other brands. If you want to try out the MIUI skin, you don't have to be the owner of a Xiaomi smartphone to do so. The manufacturer produces its shell for many brands of smartphones. You can see if there is a firmware for your smartphone, as well as download it, using the following links.
